Why I Think Valentine's Day is Ruined(kinda)

Now before I start, I know people will be saying I'm totally wrong and start a rant and blah, blah, blah de blah. Well let me just tell you: it's not perfect.

I'm not saying I don't like Valentine's Day, it's just because by this generation it's totally ruined. The story of Valentine's Day marks the death of a bishop who bethrothed people in secret against his king's wishes. He was then put in jail, thought he teached a blind girl (requested by her father) while hewas there. The bishop and the girl fell in love, as time grew on, but the bishop was told to have a death sentence. To say his goodbyes to his beloved, her wrote a letter for her about how much he loved her. This marks the story of Valentine's day.

Valentine's day was made to remember the bishop who believed in love no matter what his king says. Over time, you have to admit the purpose is kinda ruined now. All Valentine's day is now is just a excuse for marketers to give merch to otherwise oblivious consumers. For example, Starbucks. Vday is just a excuse for them to make a bunch of expensive chocolately drinks for more money. Other places like Walmart, Shoppers, cosmetics brands, also fall under this. Heck, they even give out teddy bears with excessive hearts, MORE hearts, overpriced candy, jewelry, decorations!

Again, I'm not saying I hate Valentine's day, it's just it kinda stands far from it's original purpose because of marketers and consumers. Props to marketers for making so much money right under our oblivious noses!

This is where the "kinda" part comes in.Although Vday is really just a gimmick at this point, there are people who actually celebrate their love for each other. It's really sweet, which is actually the reason I can't hate it. But you have to admit, being single on Vday can be . How can someone be so calm when all you see are blindingly vibrant hearts literally everywhere! I can't even go to the bookstore without seeing this sale on romance books that covers like half the store.

So you can say I'm wrong, stupid, idiotic (which realy just means crazy, mind you) or a single overly-emotional pessimist, it's my opinion, and if you don't like it, go ahead and tell me. Why? Because I don't care about some ranting stranger who says I should change even thought I can't. PEACE!

I'm not entirely sure of my history, I've only remembered what my mind could remember from a few years ago.
