DBSK: My Love, My Life, My Everything
Hello friends ^^
I have been wanting to ask this question for a long time. How many of you know about DBSK/TVXQ? :)
Well, I have noticed that many new kpop fans hardly know their existence. And I don't blame anyone for that. I can understand. they have been in the industry for too long.
I have been a Cassiopeia (their fanclub name) for over 6 years now. When I speak with some kpop fans, they ask me to tell them a bit about DBSK or better known as TVXQ. probably because of my crazy spazzing. lol
Anyway, so I thought I would write a short blog about them ^^
- DBSK/TVXQ debuted in 2003 as a "5 member group"
(some would say 2004 because their debut single was released in Jan 2004) but we say 2003 because they had their debut showcase on 26th December 2003
- They have different names in different countries:
- Dong Bang Shin Ki/DBSK in S.Korea
- TVXQ, their international name
- Tohoshinki/Toho in Japan
- Tong Vfang Xien Qi in China
Their names roughly translate to "Rising Gods of the East"
They really are known as the 'Gods of K-POP'
I know I would look like I'm boasting (maybe I am :P) but you can ask any old k-pop fans and they would agree with me.
- Offical Fanclub:
Cassiopeia (initially S.Korea & now international fans too)
BigEast (Japanese fans)
- Offical color: Pearl Red
Anyway, some of their notable songs are
Mirotic (the song which made me a Cassiopeia instantly and the song which made me look more into kpop)
Hug (their debut)
Rising Sun (the song which got them to peak)
Honorary mentions:
Purple Line (the most famous english line in k-pop history :P Yoochun's "Really wanna touch myself" haha :D)

They are a lot more famous in Japan. They, along with BoA and Rain are solely responsible for paving way for k-idols in Japan. All groups have it easier now, it's all thanks to them. If you know any Japanese, then feel free to ask them ^^ I'm sure no one would deny it.
And they are the only Korean group who are pretty much considered as locals (as J-POP group) in Japan. All other groups are only considered to be part of the Hallyu wave.
Here are some of their Japanese songs: (personally I love their Japanese songs more than their Korean ones)
Why did I fall in love?
Love in the Ice (not a MV but their live in Tokyo Dome)
Bolero
Unfortunately, they underwent a split in 2009. Long story, short: 3 out of the 5 had issues with SM contract. So they filed a lawsuit and left, while the other two stayed back. The 3 formed a group called "JYJ". They are the major reason why the contracts for newer groups have become 7 years from 13 years.
