A Resolution to Tzuyu vs. China?

Chinese Government steps in: censors comments and blocks searches about Tzuyu on Weibo

From Taiwanese news sites (there's others reporting but those were the ones I liked the best) + bits and pieces of news floating around in other OH threads.

Earlier in the morning as people may have heard, ex-President Ma expressed his opinion on Tzuyu's matter. One of his government spokespersons also commented on news sites that the Taiwanese Foreign Affairs department which deals with China-TW relations has been mediating discussings between their Chinese and Korean counterparts.

A few hours ago, both the Chinese and Taiwanese departments issued statements. The Taiwanese department basically supported Tzuyu.

The Chinese department statement reinforces that both sides of the Strait should respect that 1992 consensus and the One China policy. It continues by saying that certain elements of the Taiwanese media were responsible for 'certain uproars recently' that were aimed at disturbing peaceful relationships between the people of Taiwan and China, and that everyone should be on heightened alert against this propoganda. They finish by saying the Chinese government strongly supports interaction between the youths of Taiwan and China and hopes that they will continue to deepen their bonds with each other and not have any misunderstandings.

According to Chinese citizens, mass deletion of posts on Weibo containing Tzuyu's name has started and Tzuyu has been banned from the search function. There has also been confirmed reportings that CCTV has started broadcasting TWICE's MV and live performances (with focus on Tzuyu), probably along with positive government press on her.

Basically the Chinese government has to sound tough in their response (including blaming the Taiwanese Media instead of Huang An as the main perpetrators of this scandal) but I think everyone should understand that this is how the PRC does things and ironically right now are Tzuyu, TWICE and JYPE's biggest allies.

Hopefully now that the Chinese government has started cracking down, this whole issue will slowly subside. Already after Tzuyu's apology video, C-netizen opinions have started shifting towards more blaming of JYPE, and with the official government stance, will slowly shift to blaming the Taiwanese media. JYPE should still lay low in China for a few months but I think afterwards the schedules for the rest of their groups will return. Whether TWICE will recover from its alleged blacklists and CF removals remains to be seen but we can only hope for the best.

As a person of Taiwanese descent currently in Taiwan for the elections, I can tell you all that sentiment is still running high and many people will probably not react well to this news. The biggest worry now is that Taiwanese and international fans will still hurl insults against the still-touchy Chinese, reigniting the embers.

While I can't do much so far about Asian fans, I post this on OH in hopes of getting as many international fans to go out on social media, spread the news and urge all international kpop fans to show restraint in continued insults against Chinese netizens if they truly care about Tzuyu, TWICE and JYPE. The quicker this dies down the quicker they can recover from this whole ordeal.

Also don't worry about Huang An. The Taiwanese are preparing VERY warm welcomes for him when he returns to Taiwan for New Year celebrations (he's now pretty much the most hated man in the country) and it seems back in China the c-netizens are slowly turning against him. This is in part due to Taiwanese netizens posting on Weibo old videos of Huang An in the past insulting Chinese women and singing patriotic Taiwanese songs while waving the now infamous flag, and partly because people are starting to blame Huang An for the KMT's (pro-China Taiwanese ex-ruling party) landslide loss in the elections today as Tzuyu's issue blew up 'conviniently' in time to lose KMT a lot of votes.

The old man will be hit by the karma truck sooner or later  :imstupid:

I know OH has been flooded this past week with TWICE threads, but I hope and pray to god that this is the last one that needs to be made. I don't want to wake up and see Tzuyu invited to Oprah tomorrow.

TL;DR (with Chinese response for any lovely guests out there) Spread the news Spread the news, make peace not war. (the little statement I formulated below is a decent starter for copy pasting over the web)

The Chinese government has started cracking down on Tzuyu hate and broadcasted her on CCTV

This is the best outcome for everyone who supports Tzuyu, TWICE and JYPE, no matter where you come from. If you truly support Tzuyu, stop throwing insults at the Chinese or trying to seek 'justice' for her, it will only serve to make things worse.

Chinese and Taiwanese, please stop arguing and let everything calm down ;__;

This is the only way for Tzuyu, TWICE and JYPE's other artists to return to doing what they love; performing music for the rest of us.

Everything aside:

I really like this fact about it. The last part was hilarious and expected tbh.

I really hope everyone can recover soon. TWICE had a lot going for them despite the fact that they are rookies. I hope they can continue promotions and be the happy girls we know they are. And I pray that Tzuyu will stay healthy and happy despite this situation.
