Unbound Advertisement
Just to follow up with you all about the advertisement yesterday—because I said I would and because so many lovely people gave me their karma points to help pay for it—here's how the Unbound ad went compared to my first ad.
The best day
I picked a Monday instead of a Saturday this time and that was a good choice for finding YJ fans. It felt like I got about the same amount of traffic to my fics as the last time I advertised, but it cost about 4000 karma points less. I will always go for a Monday or Tuesday from now on. I set a price limit and was ready to walk away, but there wasn't the bidding war this time that there was last time.
The right fic
I also think that Unbound was a better choice for the rated-M section than JFGtS. People clicked wanting , and they got it almost right away. I noticed I didn't have the same problem with people subscribing-reading-unsubbing that I had the last time I advertised, either.
The results
In terms of numbers, I got almost TWICE as many subs for Unbound as I did for JFGtS, and roughly the same number of random subs to other fics. It was still really cool to see my fic all over the site and I definitely reached some new readers, so it was a good experience all around.
Was it worth it?
Yes! This time I can say enthusuastically that it was worth it. The cost was high, but not too high. I got a lot of new subscribers and readers. It was fun. I recommend it if you want to get a bunch of new readers to your fics. ^^
Big Thanks to everyone who donated their karma points to me for the ad. I love you!
