IronyI was a big pot of mixed emotions on Monday. I was angry, embarrassed, sad. And every one belonged to different reasons and different people. I wanted to punch some people’s faces in and cry over others and run away from some. It didn’t help that everyone was still laughing over the past week’s events; those were the ones I wanted to run away from, the students. The ones standing in a huddle around the corner lockers were the ones I wanted to punch and among them was the one I wanted to cry over.
Kim Taehyung was conversing with Tao and one of the basketball team members. I tried my hardest to ignore the boys standing behind them, leaning against the lockers as usual. Oh Sehun and Luhan were merely standing there, watching the others like nothing was new. I turned my face away, paying attention to my own locker. I took a glance in my locker mirror, noticing Oh Sehun was back to normal. His hair was a mess, uniform was untucked though he still his blazer and his tie neatly knotted. He was also on time again. I didn’t buy it, not anymore.
Just then, some kid walked by and slammed my locker in my face, throwing out a “fattie” as he walked off. I jumped back in surprise, almost having my face caught in the locker door, before I turned and glared at the person who already gone around the corner. I heard Luhan laughing as they all looked up to see what had happened. What was that guy even doing in this part of the hallway anyhow? I sighed and reopened my locker, grabbing my books, before starting to class early because I didn’t want to stick around.
Though the whole big incident didn’t blow over through the weekend, it wasn’t as bad as I expected. I got a few fingers pointed at me and some snickers here, a few names there, but it could’ve been worse by a lot. That I discovered when I went into the canteen to satisfy my aching stomach. I thought I would have all eyes on me after Friday but that didn’t happen until Oh Sehun shouted something about me returning to my pig pen and then half of the VIP section began making pig noises. When I eventually managed to get some food, I went to the very back of the canteen and sat by myself. I couldn’t even find it in myself to miss Taehyung’s company when I saw him play-fighting with Park Jimin across the room.
I realized I was staring pathetically and quickly flicked my eyes away. By chance I caught Oh Sehun looking in my direction and my eyes stopped on him. He casually sat backwards at the picnic-styled table, his back against the table and one arm around Kim Taeyeon. I could see their fingers tangled on her left shoulder as she talked animatedly with one of her friends from the cheerleading team. When Sehun noticed me looking, his lips quirked up as he tilted his head a bit. He thought he was hilarious, the big man around town. How sickening. With a big frown, I looked away and returned to eating my food, which I had lost appetite for. I couldn’t help but wonder what was about to happen next.
I didn’t have to wait long to find out.
I thought it was going to happen bright and early on Tuesday morning when I saw him storming across campus, one backpack strap over his shoulders and a scowl on his face. But he ended up leaving me alone and only talking quietly with Luhan next to his locker. I did receive a scowl from him before leaving for class, though.
Gym class was something I never really liked, not because I was lazy but because of the people. Even before everything, none of the girls were my friends and class today was no exception. It was just a friendly class of running laps, only I got tripped by Taeyeon’s clan more than a couple of times. They kept apologizing just to make sure the coach didn’t get mad, but then they only did it again and jogged off giggling like a bunch of hyenas. Oh Sehun just really had a lot of connections.
I limped into the locker room and plopped onto the wooden bench where my bag sat. All the girls were fixing their makeup and uniforms before they had to continue classes. A big mistake on my part, I sat and waited for them all until I decided to get ready. I usually took all of five minutes, really. Not until the locker room was almost empty did I come to the realization that my uniform was gone. I sighed loudly and slammed my locker, scaring the few girls left in the room as I stomped out of the room and into the hallway. I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I still in a sharp breath when I came face to face with Oh Sehun.
“Lose something?” he asked innocently.
I crossed my arms in front of me. “Give it back,” I demanded.
He laughed and started to retreat, his hands clasped behind his back. “Who said I took it?”
“I know you’re behind it, now where is it?” I asked, stomping my foot.
He shrugged, pursing his small lips.
