A Little Something Called Love

Description

"Why can't you just admit that you love her?!" Minwoo shoved Suho. "You're playing with her heart, you know? Pretending that you don't know what the whole world does." Minwoo pushed Suho into the wall.

Suho dogded his punch. "Don't scold me for playing with her heart! I pieced her back together after you left her to fall apart."

Minwoo hit Suho in the jaw. Suho tasted blood in his mouth.

"You're just scared because you know you lost her. To me."

"Some things just aren't meant to be." Suho placed his hand on Hyemi's shoulders. "Life has a funny way of reminding us that."

"How have you been so strong this entire time?" A tear trickled down her cheek. "It hurts so much."

He gave a small smile and squeezed her cheeks. "You don't even know half of what I've gone through."

Transition chapter: Accepted

"Hi, Unnie!" Minhee, Minwoo's little sister opened the door. It was Sunday and Hyemi was getting bored so she walked over to Minwoo's house. "Oppa is upstairs."

Hyemi nodded and removed her slippers before entering the house.

"Do you want something to eat?" Minhee cutely asked as she followed Hyemi.

Hyemi pinched Minhee's cheeks. "You're so cute. But no thank you, I'm just going to go see Minwoo." Minhee nodded and Hyemi slowly walked up the stairs. She quietly opened Minwoo's bedroom door and found his back facing the door, sighing with his head in his hands. I wonder what's wrong. She tiptoed over to him and peaked over his shoudlers. On his desk was college acceptance letters. Since they were finally seniors and graduation was in three months, it was natural to stress over college selections.

"Which colleges did you get into?" Hyemi whispered into his ear.

Minwoo jumped and hurriedly shoved the papers into his folder. "Mimi-ah!"

She frowned. "Why are you hiding your acceptance papers?"

"Huh? I'm not hiding them." He threw the folder across the room. "So what are you doing here?"

"I was just bored. Am I not allowed to visit my boyfriend?" She sat on his bed.

He smiled and sat next to her. "Of course you're allowed to. I was just surprised. I thought you were going to study all day today."

"Studying is boring. I'd much rather be with you."

He leaned in to kiss her. Before their lips touched, she pulled away. He tilted his head in confusion.

"So what college did you get into?" She teased.

He frowned and shook his head. "I heard you got into all of the top universities in South Korea." He kissed her on the cheek. "Amazing job."

"I know, I don't know which one I'm going to choose." She laid down on his bed and stared at the ceiling. "But I think it's coming down to Hanyang University or Seoul National University."

He sat down next to her and patted her leg. "Follow your heart."

She sat back up. "My heart will follow you." She poked his cheek and started jumping on his bed. "We're going to the same school, right? Don't forget that we promised two years ago!"

He frowned and played with his fingers out of nervousness. "Mimi-ah... About that-"

"Oh!" She stopped jumping and remembered about his acceptance letters. "I want to know which schools you got into." She climbed across the bed to where he threw the folder of acceptance letters earlier.

"No!" He grabbed her leg and dragged her away from the folder.

She smirked and pushed him over, forcing him onto his back. She eyed him as she climbed ontop. She had her legs wrapped around his waist. He gulped as she leaned forward to kiss him.

"Oh my gosh," he gasped in between breaths.

"Heh," she giggled as she reached for his hair. But instead of touching his hair, she grabbed the folder. "Got it!" She ran out the room.

Minwoo remained, motionless on the bed, catching his breath. "Damn, we've been dating for almost two years but the things she does to me..." He tried to calm himself down when he realized that Hyemi had his acceptance letters. He ran into the hallway and found her staring at a particular college letter.

"You got accepted to Julliards?" Her voice cracked.

"Yeah..." He slowly took the letter away from her.

"Congrats..."

He sighed. "I'm not going."

"Why not?" She looked up at him, eyes wet from forming tears.

He her face. "I can't leave you here in Korea."

"But Julliards is a great school for performing arts. It's your dream school. Didn't you say you wanted to be a famous performer?"

"Then what about you?" He tucked a hair behind her ear.

"Don't worry about me. It's only four years; you'll come back right?"

He nodded. "I'll never leave forever. But four years it too long. I need you to see you everyday."

"We can call and text and video chat."

"I can't hold you through the phone." He hugged her tight. "I can't leave FrogoYogo, the store we created together, either."

"I'll take care of it for you," she hugged him back.

"No, I can't leave you to run the business by yourself."

"But-"

He shushed her. "You even reminded me of the promise we made two years ago."

She shook her head.

"We promised to go to the same college."

She laughed. "That's silly. We made that promise a long time ago. I give you permission to break it. We're talking about Julliards here."

He sighed. "I don't know." He let her go.

"Oppa," she held his hand. "I'm letting you go. This your dream. Follow your dream for me, please. Once you achieve it, come back for me. Okay?"

          - Graduation Day -

"Now, I'd like to present to you our five valedictorians. Yoonjung Lee, Sumin Ko, Kwangmin Jo, Seohee Kang, Hyemi Kim, and Minwoo No." The Principle paused and waited for the applause to die down. "Yoonjung Lee will be attending Sungkyungkwan University, Biology Major. Sumin Ko will be attending Yonsei University, Math major. Kwangmin Jo will be attending Sungkyungkwan University, Engineering. Seohee Kang will be attending Seoul National University, Astronomy major. Hyemi Kim will be attending Seoul National University, Business major. And Minwoo No will be attending Julliards, performing arts."

Hyemi and Minwoo looked at each other and exchanged small smiles.

"These are the best of the best, may their futures remain bright."

"Stop pouting, Youngminnie," Kwangmin patted his brother's back. They were at a hotel ballroom, celebrating their Senior project after graduation party.

Youngmin took another gulp of soda as if it were beer. "If I hadn't fought with the physics teacher this quarter, I would've been up on stage with you guys as the sixth valedictorian." He started crying.

Yoonjung, Sumin, Kwangmin, and Seohee patted his back, trying to cheer him up.

"Mimi-ah," Minwoo grabbed her hand. "Can I talk to you?"

Hyemi nodded and followed him out into the hotel garden. Seohee watched them walk away, worried.

Hyemi roamed around the small garden, touching the pretty flowers.

Minwoo watched her for a few minutes before saying "I'm sorry."

She stopped abruptly. She plucked a blue flower out of a bush. "Don't be. You did nothing wrong."

"I broke our promise."

"I let you break the promise." She gave him the blue flower. He took it and placed it into her hair.

"Are you sad that I'm leaving?"

"Of course." She started tearing up. "But I'm more happy than I'm sad. You're going to become a great performer."

He stared at her, hoping that the moment would last forever. "I'll visit as much as I can. We can talk everyday, text, and video chat whenever we're free."

She smiled through her tears. "You don't have to." She took a deep breath. "Maybe we should take a break in our relationship."

His heart sank. "No. Never."

"It's the best for us."

"We're not breaking up!" He clenched his teeth.

"It's hard to keep a long distance relationship, Minwoo."

"No! I'm telling you we're not breaking up! Never!"

"Minwoo..."

He punched the air. "If I knew you were going to break up with me, I wouldn't have accepted Julliards!"

"Minwoo!" She held his flailing arms down. "Calm down. I'm sorry, I'm sorry for bringing it up!"

He screamed as his tears took over.

"Minwoo!" She sobbed as she held him. "I'm sorry."

"Mimi-ah... Please... Don't leave me..."
