Baek Kyungri or her American name, Kaila 17, a Chinese-Korean American who was born and raised in Los Angeles, California moved to Seoul, South Korea at the age of 2 with her family and her best friend, Kris who is 1 year older than Kyungri but is also in the same grade since he was held back. By the time Kyungri turned 2, her parents announced that her best friend would come live with them but of course Kyungri didn't know since she didn't know English yet. She mumbled and blabbered but she did not know English until she turned 3. 

Wu Yifan or Kris Wu was born and raised in Canada to very busy parents. Every year on his birthday, his parents were never there to celebrate with him. Kris' parents would always leave him with either a nanny or at a friend's house and by the time Kris turned 3, his parents decided that he should stay with someone he was close with: Baek Kyungri.

9 years later at the age of 11, Kyungri's little brother Kyungsan or his American name Kallen was born in Korea so her brother is a full Korean and Chinese. Kyungri's mom is Chinese and her father is Korean and everyday at home, Kyungri would speak one language at home, either English, Mandarin/Cantonese or Korean. Kyungri's parents thought it would be best if she spoke at least one language at home so she would understand later. Since Kyungri's parents had Kris living with them, Kyungri's parents felt like they should do the same thing with the 1 language at home with Kris. 

By the time Kyungri and Kris was in their first year of middle school, Kris already made new friends other than Kyungri. Even though Kyungri was Kris' best friend, they both decided to make new friends. Kris called himself and his new friends 'EXO-M' and the group consisted himself, Kim Minseok (Xiumin), Luhan, Zhang Yixing (Lay), Kim Jongdae (Chen) and the youngest of the group, Huang Zitao (Tao). Once the group got to high school, EXO-M was known as the 'Kingkas' of the school meaning all girls would fall for them because of their looks and personalities. 

Kris felt like it was the time for his new friends to meet his one and only best friend, Kyungri. But of course, Kyungri is a shy girl just to meet them so once she met Kris' friends one by one, her attention turned to the last person she meets: Lay. Of course she fell for his smile, his laugh, the way he talks and the way he sings but she knows he won't return the love if she ever confesses but Kyungri thought wrong.

Lay does everything to make Kyungri his but for some reason, the girl is too shy to be close to him. On some days, Kyungri thinks Lay's just acting weird because he'll give presents just so he can get out of the friendzone and Kyungri wants to do the same. Kyungri realized that she really likes Lay a lot but she is always afraid to show it. One wrong word and Kyungri's already out the door with red cheeks which makes Lay like her more.
