Three Halves to Make Me Whole

“Are you sure that you’re alright taking her to the airport after lunch?” Yifan asked, adjusting his tie a little as he looked to the two sitting on the couch.

“I am a big girl, I can take a taxi if I have to,” Mrs. Wu teased, Yixing giggling.

“I think I can manage to take her to the airport,” he replied, Yifan stepping over to kiss the blond’s forehead, then his mother’s cheek. As he straightened, she stood, pulling him into a tight hug, and he smiled, wrapping his arms around her to return the embrace.

“The house is truly beautiful,” she said softly before pulling back a little, looking from Yifan, around the living room, then to Yixing. “It’s perfect for the two of you,” she added, dimples poking into Yixing’s cheeks as he nodded.

“Almost as if it was built just for us,” he said, Mrs. Wu gasping and looking to Yifan.

“You never told him?” she asked, the pair laughing.

“Of course he told me, Mrs. Wu. I was joking,” Yixing explained, and she reached over, ruffling his hair.

“‘Mama’. I’ve told you, call me ‘Mama’, we’re family,” she cooed. Yifan gave Yixing a soft peck on the lips before he grabbed his briefcase and made his way over to the front door, heading to work. “Now that he’s out of the way,” Mrs. Wu started as the door closed behind Yifan, looking to Yixing. “I think it’s time to go enjoy ourselves~”

The two were sitting in a simple coffee shop, killing the last half hour before Mrs. Wu had to be dropped off at the airport; Yixing had thought that it was the one that Minseok worked at, and it wasn’t until they had sat down with their drinks that he remembered that Minseok didn’t have two jobs anymore; he had been hoping to inconspicuously check on the older after hearing about the whole matter with LuHan. He wasn’t sure who he felt worse for between Sehun and Minseok; while what the other had done wasn’t something to be excused he knew that the two were both hurting… And after what had happened it didn’t seem like there was a chance for them to rely on one another like he and ZiTao had in Yifan’s absence.

“Yifan’s father and I have been talking, and we were wondering when the two of you were getting married?” Yixing was pulled back from his thoughts and he felt a shy smile creep across his lips at the question, looking down at the cup he was holding “You two are going to get married, aren’t you?” Mrs. Wu prompted.

“I would like to, and I’m sure that he wants to as well, he and I just haven’t talked about it yet. There’s been so much going on around here that I guess we got lost in it all,” Yixing explained, Mrs. Wu reaching across the table to take a hold of one of the blond’s hands.

“I think you should mention it to him. I saw how miserable he was in China without you, and seeing the way he looks at you… It’s obvious that the two of you are bonded in a way that no document could rival. Even so, I can’t think of anything that would make me happier than you joining my son in marriage,” she said, Yixing returning the smile she gave him, squeezing her hand back.

“I’ll talk about it with him when he gets home tonight,” he replied and she nodded.

“If he dares to be stupid enough to tell you no, just give me a call and I’ll knock some sense into him,” she added with a wink.

Yixing hummed softly to himself, Mung’s fur, pausing when his head lifted off of Yixing’s chest, looking over to the front door. His ears twitched a couple of times before he mewed, jumping up onto the back of the couch so that Yixing could sit up, standing to welcome Yifan with a hug as the front door opened. Yifan smiled at the blond, dropping his suitcase and hugging him tightly, pulling back just enough to cover the younger’s face with quick pecks, Yixing bursting out into a fit of giggles at the action.

“You’re in a good mood,” Yixing said once he had stopped giggling, Yifan looping one arm around his waist, the other under his knees to pick him up bridal style, walking over to sit on the couch with Yixing in his lap.

“Who wouldn’t be in a good mood to come home to you?” Yifan asked, kissing Yixing’s cheek again before placing a soft kiss on his lips.

“How was work?” Yixing asked, reaching up to the older’s cheek, one of Yifan’s hands coming up to rest over his hand.

“The usual, lots of boring paperwork. I’m happy to be home with you,” he replied, Yixing smiling at him. “How was lunch? My mother didn’t talk your ear off or anything, did she?” He asked in turn.

“Actually, I had a thrilling talk with your mother earlier.”

“Oh no.”

“Oh no?” Yixing echoed, Yifan letting out a small laugh.

“My father said the same thing the day he told me he wanted me to take the company after I finished business school,” he explained, intertwining his fingers with Yixing’s and setting them in the blond’s lap. “What did you two talk about?”

“Well, she asked me why we weren’t married yet.” Yifan stared at him long enough to pull a giggle from the younger, who watched Yifan’s cheeks turn pink. “I mean, it’s a question we should have expected to be asked, we’ve been together for a couple of years.” Yifan’s eyes lowered to their hands, playing with Yixing’s fingers for a few moments.

“Would you be interested in getting married?” he asked, looking up slowly to meet the younger’s eyes again, heart skipping a beat at the look in Yixing’s eyes as he smiled.

“Yes I’ll marry you,” he replied, Yifan laughing.

“I haven’t asked yet.”

“I know, but when you do, the answer is going to be yes.”

“Yifan-Ge, I’m home~” Yixing called, slipping out of his shoes as he slid his messenger bag off of his shoulder, setting it by their coat rack. He smiled, kneeling down to pick up Meng, kissing his forehead as he stepped further into their house, pausing when he noticed something red scattered across the floor. No, not scattered, it was more of a trail than anything, and Meng jumped down from Yixing’s arms to paw at one of –what Yixing could now tell were- petals. Rose petals to be more exact and Yixing followed along the trail, careful not to step on a single one as he made his way across the living room, and up the stairs.

“Yifan-Ge?” Yixing called again once he had reached the top of the stairs, looking up from the trail to glance around to see if he could find where the trail lead yet, giggling a little when he saw their bedroom door slightly ajar. He padded his way along the hallway, pushing the door open slowly, smiling at the light brown haired male kneeling down on one knee on the carpet a few feet inside the room, a small box in his hands.

“Zhang Yixing, my darling little star. Will you marry me?”

“Ge, what are you doing?” he asked, Yifan pouting a little.

“I’m… I’m proposing to  you…”

“I thought we were already engaged,” Yixing stated, Yifan staring at him. “We talked about it and everything last week, you asked if I was interested in getting married and I told you yes,” the blond explained as Yifan stood, shaking his head.

“Not this again,” he said with a playful roll of his eyes, then he took the few steps between them, placing a hand on Yixing’s cheek. “It’s just like when you decided we were boyfriends all of a sudden.”

“It wasn’t all of a sudden, we had gone on three dates, so obviously we were boyfriends,” Yixing reasoned, Yifan chuckling softly as he opened the box in his hand, pulling out the ring before he set the box on the dresser. He took Yixing’s left hand, slipping the ring on his finger before raising the blond’s hand to his lips, kissing the back of it.

“And now I want it to be obvious that we’re engaged.”

The knock at the front door caused LuHan to look up from the table that he had been helping set, watching the way his mother’s lips pulled up into a smile and his father excused himself from the dining room to answer the door.

“We were expecting guests?” LuHan asked, his mother reaching out to fuss with his hair, straightening his shirt as footsteps approached.

“LuHan, this is Meiqi,” his father introduced, the black haired male’s attention shifting to the long haired girl that had joined them, two people behind her that he assumed to be her parents. She smiled, tucking the bit of hair that wasn’t long enough to be in the braid that the rest of her hair was in behind her ear.

“It’s a… pleasure to meet you,” she said softly, and LuHan felt a slight nudge, and he cleared his throat.

“The pleasure is all mine,” he replied with a bow of his head. They all settled at the table, LuHan instructed to sit directly across from Meiqi, and the six of them ate the appetizer mostly in silence. LuHan helped clear the used plates, as well as serve the main course, settling back in his seat once he was finished. He went to take a bite, pausing as his mother tapped her glass, pulling his attention to her.

“I feel like now is the time to announce the nature of this dinner,” she said, LuHan frowning a little, scanning the faces at the table, unease settling in his stomach as he seemed to be the only one who didn’t understand.

“Mama, what are you talking about? I thought we were just having dinner with some of Baba’s co-workers,” LuHan said slowly, his gaze flickering across the table to Meiqu when she shifted a little, then his eyes were back on his mother.

“Oh of course not, sweetie. This is your engagement dinner.” LuHan dropped the utensil in his hand, eyes wide as he stared at her. “Now-”

“My what?” LuHan asked, his mother turning a frown to him.

“Hush, it’s rude to interrupt,” she scolded, looking around the table at the guests. “You father and I, along with Mr. and Mrs. Chung have decided that you and Meiqu are the best match for one another. Along with the fact that you two joining together in marriage would join two large companies together, making the two of you financially stable enough for anything. You can find the perfect home and move in together as soon as the wedding takes place, honeymoon anywhere in the world, raise lovely children, it’ll be perfect.” His mother rattled on, LuHan’s gaze falling to the table though he saw nothing that was in front of him.

The perfect home-

“I really think you’ll like this one, Hyung.”
“You’ve said that about the last three.”

Moving in together-

“I’ve found the perfect place for you.”
“But we already told that last place that I was going to come back and sign the paperwork and everything,” Sehun argued, staggering a little when LuHan tugged on his wrist.
“Just, hear me out, okay?” LuHan requested, smiling when Sehun gave in. “So, it is a one bedroom, like all the ones you’ve been looking at since your promotion, but you’ll have to share a kitchen.” Sehun arched an eyebrow. “And a living room, and… a bed.”
-
“Hyung, you’re not suggesting what I think you are, are you?” He asked, LuHan’s serious expression breaking as he tried to keep back a smile.
“Will you stay here? With me?

After the wedding…

He could picture Jongin tearing up as Sehun would walk down the aisle, joining LuHan as their fingers intertwine and they turn to the minister as he starts the ceremony.

Raise children-

Waking up to see Sehun beside him; the way his face would scrunch up a little as footsteps barreled down the hall and they were called to by their child- no, two voices, two little boys.

LuHan blinked back to the present, looking slowly up to find Meiqi staring at him with a polite smile- one he couldn’t bring himself to return, and he didn’t realize he had spoken until his mother stopped.

“Excuse me?”

“No.”

“What do you mean ‘no’?”

“I mean no!” LuHan said, voice raising a little as he looked to her. “I didn’t agree to this, I don’t want this. This isn’t me.”

“Come now, LuHan, I thought we were over your whole delusional fantasy,” she sighed, LuHan gritting his teeth.

“Fantasy? I’m the one that’s delusional?” he asked, tone showing his offense. “I’m not the one trying to marry my son off to every girl I come across because I can’t accept some simple fact that my son doesn’t want to marry who I want him to! I’m my own person mother, and I’m tired of letting you dictate the way my life goes. Where I live, what job I have, who I marry, the color of my hair! I’m sick of you refusing to accept me for the way that I want to be just because if doesn’t fit into the image that you want it to!”

“LuHan, calm down, you’re making a big deal out of little things,” his mother tried to brush off, causing the dark haired male to stand from the table.

“No, you’re brushing off things that matter to me! You’ve been doing that ever since I decided that I wanted to go study in Korea, and that I wanted to be a music major. You never even bothered to learn Sehun’s name, calling him whatever you could come up with that started with an ‘S’.” LuHan argued, earning a sharp look from his mother.

“You will sit down, this instant, or else.”

“I’m not a child anymore, your threats don’t work on me anymore,” he said, looking across the table, sighing and bowing his head. “It was nice to meet you, and I’m sorry that my parents got you involved in this. But I can’t marry you, it wouldn’t be right to either of us.” He straightened, making his way around the table, his mother catching onto his sleeve.

“Where do you think you’re going?” She asked, frowning deeply when he yanked his arm away from her.

“I’m going home.”

Chapter 105: nooooooo I can't believe it's over!!!!!!!!!!! I await eagerly for the epilogue!!
this was such a great story idea and such a great story!!! I'm glad it ended happily although that car crash scared me, suchen will always be my otp but I have a soft spot for xiutao in this. I think my favourite chapter is actually when jongdae confronts baekhyun after he leaves cy. idk there's something so precious about baekhyun running away only to run into the big red sign that is jongdae saying "wrong way, go back". man I can't believe this story is over but I'm also happy that it ends well, i don't think i could take another round of drama (seriously??? baekhyun with taehyung as a son????? I'm crying ) idk everything about this is good I love it all <333333333333333 x 100

Chapter 102: Omg don't do that to me! What is it with the boys and cars? Probably didn't help that I just read a fic where these two got in a wreck and Yeol actually died. *sobs* I was so scared you were just gonna off one of them XD. Great chapter, as usual. And a tiny bit of angsty-fluff at the end to wrap it up, well done. :)
