Season 2 Chapter 1

“THE KITCHEN IS ON FIRE!” A shrill scream came from a frantic Luhan, the boy vigorously waving his hand in front of his face trying his best to breathe normally from the fumes that clouded his nostrils. He had a pink apron on, his deer eyes fluttering open and close with clear drops of tears starting to run down his face. Luhan coughed, his hands fumbling with the stove, trying to find a way to die down the flames when the padding of footsteps from outside the kitchen neared and in came a half awakened Suho. He did not remain like that for long and the moment his nose took in the burned aroma of vegetables his eyes grew big and he too, began coughing non-stop. “What-“ “FINALLY SOMEONE SHOWS UP! Really, I’m here about to ing die and y’all just-“ Suho did not bother to listen to Luhan, the man running over to the stove to turn it off with one try, shoving Luhan aside on the way. Luhan fell backwards against the cabinet that, his body slamming against the wooden furniture, his face twisting in pain when his hip made contact with the sharp edge. Beeps began to fill the air and two machines flew in, hovering in the air with red lights on, signaling emergency as it spoke in its robotic voice. “Fire. Fire. Emergency fire.” They let out a light beam, scanning the place, their metallic bodies turning 360 degrees from the door and back. Their beeping red lights started flickering with more speed and before Luhan knew it, they sprayed out a wave of water from their bodies, straight onto his face making him sputter in shock. “WHAT THE-“   Splash. Splash. Splash.   “Stop it! I’m not on fire-“   Splash.   “Are you ing serious?”   Just when Luhan was about to get attacked by another round of water, the door opened and Yixing merrily shouted to make his presence known. The hacker paused by the door when he saw his half flooded kitchen and when his eyes landed on the stove, Luhan, and the robots; he put two and two together to figure out what had happened. He raised a hand and snapped his fingers, the robots flying over to him, scanning his face to make sure he was their master before flying out the door. “I’m so wet.” Luhan grumbled, standing up and trying to remove the pink apron. Suho was trying to push open the window and he finally succeeded, the fumes rapidly escaping out of the opening. “Sorry, they aren’t well programmed. They can’t tell between humans and flames.” Yixing began and stopped when Luhan glared at him menacingly. “….yet.” Yixing added pointedly. “I’ll fix them soon-“ Another glare from Luhan. “…now. I’ll fix them now.”   Yixing gave a meek smile to Luhan whose facial expression made it obvious that he was in an incredibly bad mood. The fairy boy pursed his lips in a bratty manner, Yixing turning to leave the room just to run into Kris, Baekyoung and Minseok who stopped by the door as they take in the scene. “Did you guys have a water fight early morning?” Minseok asked, Yixing slipping past all of them and running down to halls after his fire fighting robots. Sehun appeared just in time to hear Minseok speak, his hair sticking out in different places like flashes of lighting. “Water fight? What water fight?” asked Sehun, walking into the kitchen sleepily and taking a seat on the chair beside the table. His eyes were swollen and he looked like he lacked sleep, the youngest putting his head down on the table.   Luhan sighed, motioning to the soaked floor before speaking with such confidence. “Those damn robots showered me down. This is what happens when you’re born hot.”  “Hyung, I hope to god that was a joke. Even if that was a joke, it was a lame one.”  Sehun who seemed to not be listening, raised his head and shook it, answering to Luhan’s statement. “You didn’t think I was lame last night.”   Suho who was listening to the conversation, squinted his eyes to Sehun. The researcher approached the kid, placing his hand on his back to check is body temperature. “Talking about it, Sehun, you feeling okay? You seem tired today… Oh. Kai, Tao. Come in.” “What the happened here?” Kai’s loud voice made everyone turn to him as Double Force made their entrance. “Luhan, what in the world happened to you? Did you piss yourself?” “Seems like Luhan hyung ed things up this morning.” Tao said, chuckling and pointing to Luhan who was put into an even worse mood. Luhan rolled his eyes at Double Force that were in sync as usual, crossing his arms across his chest and giving out a sigh before turning to Suho to give an answer to the researchers’ previous question. “Sehun stayed up all night.”   “Did he? What did you do?” Kai butted in with a suggestive tone while Tao tried to wake Sehun up. Sehun lifted his head up slightly, his head drooping towards the salad that was put in front of him. Tao touched Sehun’s arm softly, Sehun abruptly standing up as if he got out of a trance. Sehun blinked, finally coming out to his senses. The maknae scratched his head and sat down with embarrassment. “What?” Sehun yawned and rubbed his eyes. “We did nothing last night. We just stayed up talking.” “Really? I thought I heard screaming last night. Baekyoung and I thought zombies got into the house.” Kris snickered and Baekyoung who was in the midst of pouring water down his throat choked on the liquid, spitting it out on Minseok who stood up and waved his hand in front of his moist face in feigned disgust. “Kris Hyung would know, he’s an expert.” Kai said. “Shut up, you .” Luhan shot back at Kai. Kai turned to glare at Luhan, his cheeks turning pink despite his bronzed skin. He lifted a middle to Luhan just as Yixing came back- holding a bunch of newspapers with Chanyeol trailing behind him. The tall Korean man looked just as sleepy as the other people, his hair slightly messy.   “Whose duty is it today to fix the airplane?” Baekyoung asked, wiping the table with a piece of cloth.   The past week they have been fixing the airplane. Yixing said he received the airplane for his 18th birthday but he got bored of it so he left it to gather dust over the years. He didn’t have a license to fly it, later it became useless to him since he spent days making his own small flying objects. It wasn’t big, it was enough to fit all them but they all had to be careful with the amount of weight it could hold.   Chanyeol had proved himself knowledgeable in the area of VME (Virtual Machines Environment), being rich he had many hobbies and one of many of those was flying airplanes. Kai could help with the basics, figuring things out with the brainy Suho and Baekyoung who spent nights up reading the manuals that Yixing kept in his room. Yixing did most of the work, of course, with the help of the robots hovering around him. They had to trust him, they all had no choice, he was a genius when it came to electronics.   Chen, Kyungsoo, Baekhyun and Sehun were in charge of serving the others with water and food while they worked. While Minseok often read the manuals, he usually spent time with Tao breaking furniture available in the house to make self protection weapons. At first, they did not want to since Yixing once mentioned that the dining table in the hall (There was actually a dining table in the hall by the stairs. Weirdly, it wasn’t in the dining room but in the hall blocking the stairs instead.) was owned by his great great great great great great great grandfather of many generations and he had it shipped from China.   He got bored of it though, as expected of Zhang Yixing, and told them to just destroy it. When they refused, seeing it as a family heritage, Yixing sawed the legs right in front of them to prove that he was okay with it being broken down. He told them to karate chop it, Minseok and Tao wrecking the table with all their might by cutting out the legs of the table and shaping them into stakes. They now had 4 nicely shaped stakes and was eyeing another table that was put on a grand piano (Yixing put a freaking table on a piano) that was said to be owned by Yixing’s great great great great great cousin many times removed that he didn’t even know if they were even related or not. To top that off, they were in charge of packing things, Minseok calculating the total baggage that was allowed on the plane.   Luhan and Kris did not have a certain role, both of them helping everyone by hopping from place to place. Yixing gave them a buzzer and whenever someone needed them, it would light up. Turns out, the light would turn on and blink constantly for the whole day making them run back and forth. They did the most work, having to fetch tools; help the younger ones pick vegetables, read a lot of the manuals, and carry around the furniture pieces for Minseok and Tao. They both ran marathons for 8 hours the day before that they vowed to rest the day after.   “Luhan and I will go back to bed.” Kris spoke out and Luhan nodded, his hands going to the newspaper Yixing brought, flipping through the pages. Luhan started reading the news out of boredom, his hands switching pages when he eyes caught an image of someone who looked familiar. He focused his eyes on the fading picture, turning to look at Chanyeol then back at the picture. “Isn’t… Isn’t this you?” Luhan asked, lifting the newspaper and holding it beside Chanyeol’s face. Chanyeol swatted the paper, an annoyed look on his face. Kai leaned in to take a look at the newspaper, his eyebrows lifting. “It is you! Chanyeol Hyung, this is totally you! PCY Industry stocks to be transferred to- Oooh, Hyung, your sister is pretty. She’s your sister is she?” Kai kept talking, even the sleepy Sehun was now reading the article laid in front of them.   “Yes, she’s my sister.” Chanyeol answered coldly, not even bothering to look at them. “Wah, is it me or does your family have the tall gene?” Sehun asked, looking at the family picture pasted on the front page newspaper. “She’s damn pretty.” “Of course.” This time, Chanyeol said it smugly, his pride in his family name making a smirk appear on his lips. “Where is she now-“ Tao began but Baekyoung nudged him to signal that it was a sensitive topic. “I mean- Uh… Yeah, she’s pretty.” Tao desperately tried to save his own face, Chanyeol looking own onto his hands that were clasped tightly on his lap.   “I have no idea where she is now.” Chanyeol began and the kitchen went quiet, everyone listening to him talk. It was the first time he started a conversation. “The day the disease broke out; she had to go on a plane heading to Istanbul to speak to a few bank loaners. Before our signal with the outside world cut off, I heard that the plane did not reach Istanbul and their flight was a bit delayed. That would mean one thing- the plane never left the airport.”   “I’m sorry to hear that.” Baekyoung was the first person to express his condolences to Chanyeol, the tall boy shrugging like it wasn’t something he would think about. “I got over it.” “You must not have been close with her.” Minseok spoke, bringing a couple more plates onto the table. “I was incredibly close to her.” Chanyeol’s mood suddenly turned foul and he shot back his answer, pushing the plate away from him. “I’m not hungry.” He stood up, the chair falling back against the ground, his long legs turning to bring him out of the door with Suho shouting him.   “You need to eat-“ Suho began but Kris laid a hand on his shoulder, a sign to let it go. It was probably a sensitive topic. Suho bit his lip, turning away, everyone lowering their heads to continue eating. Chanyeol kept walking down the hall, his facial expression hardening with every step. He stopped on the hallway, placing a hand on his head, trying to calm himself. He laid his head against the wall, regaining his composure. His lip trembled and he sighed. How he hated moments like this. He hated how he felt. He liked to control things but he could not even control what he felt. Chanyeol closed his eyes, his heart beat slowing.   It was the day his sister would leave for Istanbul and Chanyeol was called up to her room. She was to stay there for 3 years and even if the siblings did not speak much, they were closer than other siblings. Chanyeol had walked into her room just to see the furniture covered, her bags packed and his sister was looking as beautiful as ever as she applied red lipstick onto her lips with a smack. “Noona, do you really have to go?” “What kind of stupid question is that?” His sister asked back, rolling her eyes at him. She was a blunt talker, her personality strong and opinionated. She often spoke meanly, insulting him and Chanyeol was the quieter version of her. He had sighed, shaking his head at her. “It’s good you’re going. Are you bringing Ellie with you?” He asked his sister and she nodded, waving a hand to fan herself. Ellie was his sister’s secretary and Chanyeol had been friends with her since he was young despite her being years younger than him. “Yeah, she’s going back with me. Why, are you going to miss your Noona?” His sister asked, turning to wrap her arms around his shoulders and Chanyeol hugged her back, biting onto his lower lip. “No one will be around to entertain me anymore. Not you or anyone else.” “You have Mira.” “She’s also busy.” “Are you sure she isn’t cheating on you?” His sister asked back, turning to look at Chanyeol and Chanyeol frowned. There were rumors but he did not beli

Chapter 37: <span class='smalltext text--lighter'>Comment on <a href='/story/view/955370/37'>Epilogue</a></span>
This fic had everything: action, suspense, mystery, horror, gore, comedy, romance... even some plot twists. Although the story took a long time to complete, i feel a little empty as it has come to an end. The ending was rushed though.

Can't wait to read your next apocalypse fic.
