Description

Her life was like the leaves on trees in Autumn; beautiful, silent, but falling.

Always falling.

To the point, she could fall no more.

Foreword

Tao, I find (or maybe because I don't actively look for fics with him in it OTL) doesn't get that much attention fic wise where he isn't stereotypical. Also for some reason I tend to put my top biases in angst.

I'm so nice. In addition to that though, Tao is more of a minor character as the OC is the main focus. I didn't mean for it to happen like that but if you don't like that, then do not read, its as simple as that.

Inspired by Time and Fallen Leaves by AKMU, and a true story.

However some events do not reflect reality whatsoever, so be forewarned.

On a side note, I love how I'm posted this closer to summer than the intended season but pffft--whatever.

Enjoy~

Chapter 1: Was going through my old subscriptions and came back to read this story. Can't believe it's been 8 years since I graduated high school and at least 4 years since I last lived at home. I was able to escape a toxic and broken household, and my mental health was better for it. Qiu is me. I am Qiu. Wonderful story ❤️

Chapter 1: I never had the chance to listen to the song inspiration but I have always find Akmu amazing and endearing in everything they do. what this fic reminds me of is a bit of Kyungsoo's movie with Soohyun.. I just couldn't put it into words what it is exactly (probably because it's been more than a year since I have watched it) but it gives me the same vibe, a kid's longing for parental love and despite being surrounded by her ever supported friends, a void is still out there, too big to be filled that somehow, something's just got to give. it's an awful truth and it cannot be helped. Tao has been the most supportive as he only did what he can. If there's one cruel thing in this world that is mostly ignored that I sincerely want to be eliminated, that is the existence of broken families. Kids need love and trust and they have to feel it from the their very own families before they are expected to share the same love and trust back to the society.

despite it's sad tone, this fic is a refreshing kind of ff. you may have borrowed Tao's face for a character but I'd like to think it as one of the characters he can certainly pull off for a role. tysm

Chapter 1: I teared up at the first part where little Qiu wanted to show her daddy the drawing she drew, but got yelled instead. She's just a child, i can relate to how confuse and upset she is at the moment. And i can say that no child deserve this. Though Tao isnt really the main character here but his role is still important like how he's the one always there for Qiu. I love the way you end the story! Definitely a good read!

Chapter 1: This was a story that really hit me. I didn't cry, but I could relate to Qui and experience what she was feeling through your writing. Thank you for this story!

Chapter 1: I love your style of writing and the imagery is so on point I can see it before my eyes! This prose, as expected, is sad. It realistically depicts the reaction of a child when their parents are at discord.
The graduation of baby Qiu to graduate Qiu mirrors the washing away of childhood innocence. And I love the transition of thought she has about her birthday. It ties everything nicely. I felt sorry for her at the end where even Tao left her but I guess that shows she's growing up and out of, erm, imaginary things.
Honestly, when I read the description I was lead to believing she would do something drastic lol. That was scary!

That description makes me brace myself for some super angst. Gosh, it's just as dark and pretty as the words used to describe it.

Don't worry about throwing angst at your biases. At least you don't give them brothers you plan to kill off later. xD

Tao's stereotype: wushu child prodigy, cries easily, terrified of: flies, insects, bugs, ghosts, dark places, etc. [Note: This is not an exhaustive list.] A change of character is good. The same stuff get's really boring :)

I have to agree that Tao doesn't get much attention, in a way that he's not the member whose fics are being more featured, but you'll find many good stories if you search well, I have read many good ones, all of them are whether Tao centered or TaoRis centered

I think The Season of Silence and I are meant to be. Literally, my ipod started playing Time and Fallen Leaves while I was reading your description and foreword. No lie.

And if that wasn't enough, I was miserable throughout your story. And it's not only because I can relate with the protagonist, but your words portray her feelings and helplessness. It's not "she's sad her parents are fighing all the time." No, you showed it when Qiu turns up her music to shut her parents out. You showed it when she stopped caring less about her parents, her friends, and school.

I have to say I love the gradation of the story - from describing autumn in a optimistic and lyrical tone to describing autumn in a cynical and cheerless tone.

And just to sum it up: I love your story, Sarah, and it's truly beautiful.

P.S. I teared up when I reached the end.

I do need one clarification: What is Tao the embodiment of? I understand he's part of her imagination and he's, I guess, a part of her that makes her feel less lonely, but to you as an author what does he represent?
