Park Shin Hye died from a broken heart back in junior high. She buried herself in her education in order to forget about her past. She became a straight A student and turned down all requests that weren’t school-related. Her “first love” experience having not gone well, led her to believe, love was a waste of time. “Why waste my time with trivial things like love when I have my future ahead of me? Like college!” She always questioned herself this.

Jung Yong Hwa, a free spirit, was kicked out of his old private school. Once at the top of his class only to fall rock bottom. Why? He fell in love. And the poor guy thought she felt the same way. But it turned out, she only used him to get good grades. As she excelled in school, his grades plummeted into the ground. His broken heart led him to think, "who needs school? I'd rather have fun, go out with hot girls while I'm young!" With that mindset, he went with the flow and didn't put effort into his studies anymore. He went out with a long list of girls, broke their hearts as a symbolic way of getting back at his ex, (though of course that changed absolutely nothing). Being the rather experienced player, he became haughty. He believed he was an expert on girls and relationships.
