Father of the Year
Description
Yongguk gets a call from his parents asking him to come back home to "talk". Yongguk's greatly against the idea of meeting them again, but to Himchan's consistent persuasion, he ends up going; his only condition is that Junhong's not allowed to come with. Placing Junhong in Himchan's care, Yongguk hops on the boat back to his old hometown, where his parents have retired to.
Returning back home after dropping Yongguk off at the port, Himchan realizes that Junhong may or may not have grown a little too much to lure out with just candy and chocolate anymore.
Himchan doesn't understand where exactly he could have possibly gone wrong. He'd always tried his best at everything he did (though at a darker period of his life, he'd been less than pleasant, even back then, he'd gone all out in being absolutely the best worst person he could be) and even donated to the charity workers manning the bells out during the holiday seasons. He'd lived his life to the fullest, so where possibly could he have slipped up so badly?
Foreword
When Himchan's significant other goes away on business (for several weeks/months), Himchan, a loving father, assumes full responsibility for Junhong, their only child. In addition to fatherly duties, they're in charge of cleaning the house and cooking dinners, tasks typically performed by their spouse. Himchan is confident, however, that they can handle things for the time that their loved one is away and they're looking forward to the opportunity to strengthen their bond with their darling daughter(son), Junhong. It isn't until Himchan and Junhong get home from dropping Himchan's spouse off at the airport(pier) and Junhong heads straight up to their room for privacy, that Himchan realizes that their daughter(son) isn't the little girl(boy) who likes to stand on her(his) dad's shoes to dance anymore. She(he)'s a teenager who's obsessed with social medica and boys(girls) and all sorts of things that Himchan has no clue about. Apart from the occasional encouraging phone call or video chat from their significant other, Himchan is on their own in looking after Junhong and they have to learn how to relate to their daughter(son) all over again; awkward conversations and all.

a/n: Happy (early) children's day (May fifth)! This story will not be (for sure) posted on children's day, but I did want to put it up here so I'll actually get to finishing it. I'm about two thousand words in but who's to say when I'll actually finish. Especially since I'm leaving tomorrow on a date with my brother (tralalalala). I actually planned this for Single Father's one year anniversary, but you know, I'm a lazy asshat.
"Father of the Year" was a father/daughter plot I saw from the plotsforall tumblr page, so all credit goes to them. I changed a few things around (the airport and changing the daughter to son as well as a few other minor differences) but other than that, it's all there. They're a really cool page, check them out when you have time. It'll spike your creative muse. And if your world revolves around bap like mine does (bap is judging me from their season's greeting calendar again) then you'll see a bunch of mini-movie clips of them in corresponding plot fills. fun.
This is also a "spin off" of sorts from Single Father. You don't need to have read that to understand this (though it will help explain some of the relationships established, I doubt you'll need it to make sense of the nonsense happening here). (Another note is that I've also been writing something that links the daejaeup family to the banghimlo family for this au, but it's been rotting in my drive folder for the most part.)
Sorry in advance for the slow update. I've gotten actually (semi) busy recently as well with my creative muse deciding to kick me in the .
