What If...

Description

A source of warmth was nowhere to be found on this cold night. A thin blanket covering half of a young womans body was weighted down by another. Cold swept through the thin material and soaked into her pores, filling each nerve with a bitter tingle, and the night leaked through an open window, welcoming dew and far off sounds of the hour. Her eyes begged to be closed, wanting to find relief in a world of sleep, but the reality of the moment would never allow that feeling of peace. There was worry running through her veins—a pure unease that left her mind filled with questions. The feeling paralyzed her joints, forcing her to stay in her frozen position, and each breath that escaped her lips was made with the utmost silence for she wanted to make sure she didn’t stir the man sitting on the edge of the bed.

The night cloaked most of his body, but a slight glimmer from the moon showed off a man that could come either from the most romantic dream or spine tingling nightmare. He sat with his elbows placed on his knees, hunched over thinking deeply, and his hands masked his face, lost in thought. He wore nothing but a loose pair of pants, and his black hair that was once slicked back neatly now lay in a gelled mess. The line of his jaw could be properly seen, even in the darkness the night sported, his lips kissed the air without trying, and his eyes were shielded with a million lashes. His forehead lay in a ruin of wrinkles as he stressed his thoughts, making his whole body rigid, filled with the same worry the woman had. His name was Jongin, Kim Jongin: the owner of warm brown eyes.

A loud sigh came from Jongin as he rubbed his hand over his forehead. He turned his body around to look at Eunhye laying next to him, and she could feel his brown eyes burning holes into her back; they cut right through her spine and pierced her heart. He stared at her for what felt like hours, but in reality it was only a few seconds. Those eyes were eating up her soul, devouring each bit of sanity she had left.

Long limbs climbed their way under the blanket that shielded Eunhye’s cold body. She shivered as Jongin`s slender fingers danced across her side and around her waist, pulling her to him. She shut her eyes, letting the comforting touch bring tears, and breath ceased to exist in her lungs. Jongin matched her position to his, putting their bodies together like a puzzle, and sensed the thoughts running through his lover's head. Warm breath crept its way up her neck to her ear as Jongin`s lips placed themselves right on her lobe, and an endless amount of kisses were place on that same spot. Eunhye tried to calm herself, but she was fighting a meaningless war, giving into the man she didn’t know if she still loved.

"Shhh," Jongin’s deep voice cut through the night as he whispered into Eunhye’s ear, "It’s alright, I’m here now..." The soft voice would have calmed any person, even a small child, but Eunhye could only hear the uncertainty on his voice. "I’m here..." he repeated several times as if he was trying to convince himself. Their hearts pounded in the quiet room, leaving tears to be shed from both eyes.

The warmth of Jongin’s body soon found its way to Eunhye’s, breaking the cold spell the night cast. Her breath found its way back out of tight lungs, and the tears melted away with his touch. She confided to his soft voice, letting the words words wean her to sleep.

Foreword

The two eyes, tightly shut
The eyes that are too late, the eyes that lost you
I’m becoming more and more sorry, looking at you with these kinds of feelings
Eyes looking at each other
One pair of remaining eyes, eyes that have lost their way

Hello everyone! This is a big moment for me, the moment the story I have been working on for the past year will be released! I have poured my whole being into it, I hope you all enjoy! I want to say a quick thank you to my friend Beth. If it wasn't for her, this story could have been lost. Thank you for putting up with my countless worries!

Be sure to check out the lyrics to What If, this whole story is based off of them and it would be a great guide, and perhaps a tear jerker, when you are reading this story. Also, the story jumps around time wise; to keep your head straight, be sure to notice the date of when the chapter is set, that will clear some confusion.
