“Sir?”
I looked up from my seat in the waiting room. I stood up as the nurse walked over.
“Hi, Karen is doing well for a person in her condition. However, her ribs are crushed and her heart is barely passing the test. The doctor wanted to let you know that.”
I swallowed. “Will she recover?”
“There’s a chance that she will, but it’s very small. Even if she recovers, she will probably have chest pains and her heart will forever be weak.” The nurse smiled. “You should go home. The best thing to do now is pray.”
“Thank you.” I shook her hand and went to walk out of the hospital when two adults rushed in. They had parts of Karen’s face, and both of them were worried.
“Mr. Li? Mrs. Li?” They turned to me with looks of annoyances. “I’m Jongwoon.” I held out my hand. “I was with Karen when the accident happened.”
Mr. Li’s face softened immediately. “Hello Jongwoon,” he answered, shaking my hand. Mrs. Li looked more reluctant, but briskly shook mine as well.
“I must find my daughter.” Mrs. Li walked off.
Mr. Li shook his head at his wife. “I’m sorry for my wife’s rudeness. She is very worried about Karen.”
I smiled. “We all feel that way.”
“Yes. I want to thank you for taking care of Karen during this time she was in New York. If she went alone, I would have lost sleep all those nights, but knowing someone was there with her made it much easier.”
“No problem. I think you should join your wife now.”
“Yes, thank you. Good bye Jongwoon.” Mr. Li ran off into the emergency room section.
I walked around the room, pausing by a window. It seemed the sky had gotten grayer, more unforgiving. Perhaps it was a mirror, reflecting my shocked fate.

As for the ending, you could have blend in the two last chapters. Trust me, they make more sense together than apart^^
