Why Lens and Pen?

Hmm, before going into that topic, let me share the prologue.

Few days ago, during my daily routine collecting information, somebody asked me a question. “What do you think is the most valuable thing in life?”

Instead of money, I answered… image.

Let’s take a moment to think about it.

These days, when information can spread in a blink of an eye, when you can share anything with internet and everybody can access internet easily, we are getting thirsty with information and becoming curious every single day. Information dictates us and media plays the coy. I don’t want to go “deep ” into the “giddy giddy” of media influence, but I just want to state the impact of this situation. People want to be famous, want to be a reliable source, want to be known, by what? By giving images! Politicians and ambitious rich people throw a lot of money to make other people see their good and positive image. Having the right image is the most important thing in life than money, people is thirsty to be famous with the image they choose. And what is the most deadly evidence to make an image of a person?

Have you seen few photos of the beautiful Princess Kate Middleton being topless during his holiday with her Prince William? People were shocked and started to change their point of view about her being a ty woman. Her perfect and classy image started to change because of those photos. That is how dangerous a photo can be.

Photo means thousands things, photo gives someone a good impression, a prejudice, a judgment, can cause happiness or tragedy, and most of all, a photo kills. Photo evidence can cause people to kill another person, even killing himself or herself. Lens capturing a moment to produce photo or video is the most effective weapon to use against people.

It goes the same with pen. I use the term pen, even though no one is writing articles or letter with pen anymore (come on, it’s 2015, guys!), because pen is used for writing. With pen, we can write insightful articles, sign important documents, buy some luxurious things, put someone into jail, and give award to someone for something his/her deserves. President or the head of a state can give amnesty and save someone from death penalty by signing documents. Sponsor can give recommendation letter or give scholarship award through letter to someone. Pen is capable to give life and hope.

And for me, a handsome young man who gets enthusiast with journalistic world, lens and pen are everything, my weapon, my life.

Lens allows me to prove what my thought has been written on with a pen.
