Dara shook her head vigorously as she couldn’t believe how unlucky the passed day was for her. Firstly she overslept and only because her boss was even a bigger sleepyhead, she didn’t got caught getting late to the office. Later it turned out that while packing she mistook her flash disk with  a freakin chocolate bar and weren’t able to show the presentation she have been doing till late yesterday. Today was the day when she wanted to shine and when the awaited moment of her possible promotion was supposed to come.

How excited she was with the opportunity to let the boss see what she came up with, what kind of product improvements she devised… All the struggle was for nothing. Dara sighed and remembered how her ‘over the wall’ colleague shined at today’s meeting.  She had to admit that his ideas were pretty solid but still… it was supposed to be me! Dara internally cried. Her fists clenched automatically when she remembered his smirking face and him looking right at her after finishing his outstanding presentation. That douche! Even if he begs, I won’t talk to him!

The boss seemed rather impressed with ‘that idiot’s’ ideas and even though there were few more workers performing, he only talked with him. If he promotes him I’ll be dying slowly and painfully while seeing his cocky smile every day!

“Aish!” her sudden outburst made few people who were walking by look at her with disapproval. Dara didn’t care about their stares but about her scratched knees and hands instead. Her black tights were ripped and she could feel her back aching a bit after the epic fall.

Dara was on her way to the subway station when suddenly one of her heels got trapped in a little hole in the drainage catch pit. She fell flat on the sidewalk and instead of giving her a hand, people passed by as if nothing happened.  Am I so pathetic that they don’t even care if I’m alright? Dara asked herself and didn’t even mind to rush and get up.

She sat on the sidewalk and started looking for a water bottle and some tissues in her bag. Seeing that there was only an inch of water left in the bottle made her clench her teeth. Just my luck. But when she was about to pull out the tissues, her hand touched an empty sandwich box.

Dara’s chin began to tremble when she remembered about her angel. Today’s morning she didn’t have enough time to eat breakfast and forgot to pack lunch. When she wanted to buy something at one of the vending machines it turned out that almost all sandwiches were bought out. Alright… I can eat that one with tuna… she told herself, but imagining the aftertaste she was about to experience made a shiver of disgust spread around her body.

How naive she was to think that she will be able to eat something today. There were only few wons in her wallet because she forgot to put in the money she paid out of her bank account yesterday.

“Hungry?” Dara heard a cheerful voice. Firstly she thought that the first phase of her hallucination started when he put a sandwich box at the desk in front of her. “My treat.” He added with a wink and vanished making her astonished with his kindness and overall angelical personality.

“Sandwich boy… I’ll find you and worship you as a god of purity and kindliness.” Dara swore to herself.

After somehow treating her wounds, she tried to fix her clothes and hair. Thank God that my glasses are fine. She thought and was about to get up when something fell on the sidewalk right next to her.

“What?” Dara glanced at it with frowned eyebrows and then looked around. However no one seemed to be interested with the mysterious object.

“A notebook?” she mumbled and took it in her hands. There was no title, no signing at the cover, what’s more there were only four pages inside.

Dara pouted and read the note that was at the first page.

This notebook is just a mere tool.

The number of empty pages is the same as the number of your possible lovers.

Choose your lover wisely.

The one whose love last longer than 24 hours is the one destined to you.

“What?!” Dara’s eyes popped open.
