Love? Hate? Death.
Description
What happens when fire and ice meet?
Will the fire melt away the ice? Will the ice extinguish the fire, destroying its very existence? Or, will there be some miracle, and the fire and ice merge together, to create a new substance that is strong enough to endure all.
This is the story of a friendship so twisted it seems unworthy to be written down and recounted for all to hear. This is a story of betrayal. Forgiveness. Friendship. Lies. Death
Deprived of a proper childhood, Han Jaejoong grew up twisted. Mentally unstable and diagnosed with severe Bipolar Disorder at age twelve, the boy is only a couple of inches off the rocker, before he finally falls to the brink of insanity.
The only thing that keeps him together, the only thing that keeps him marginally sane, after his never ending supply of medication, is one man. Han Yunho.
Along with their 'brother', Han Yoochun, the three of them work together under the guidance of Nine, a prestigious government run organization that specialises in threats to national security.
Why they all have the same first name you ask? That is how the agents are identified. In Korea, Han is such a rare surname in Korea that people will actually stop and stare when a Han is present.
Shim Changmin and Shim Karam are brothers, bound, not by blood, but by love for each other. When the two are kidnapped by Nine for their father's suspicion of being involved with Renegade, an anti-government organization run by the Free Army, the boys know they are in deep trouble.
Han Junsu is one of the newest recruits in Nine. Although he is young, he is highy skilled in almost all areas. Combat, weaponry, bombs, he knows it all. Forcefully made to join Yunho and his team, his dislike for them threatens the barely stable scale that holds them together. And he seems to hold a terrible secret, one that might possibly tear them apart.
The hands of fate are cruel and unforgiving, as she tries to bind the six of them together, to take down a single enemy. Who will that unlucky person be...?
Foreword
Han Jaejoong.
A child.
Perhaps that is the best, and most accurate way to describe the sixteen year old, with bright doe eyes and pouty lips. The scars and bruises that run along his arms and through the rest of this body, however, are testament enough that he is not just any ordinary child.
A special child, perhaps, one who is capable if inflicting enough damage that could kill you, in the blink of an eye. A spoilt child, perhaps, one who is always adamant on getting his ways. A smart child, perhaps, one who has easily skipped a grade in school.
But a weak child, a harmless child, a normal child he is not, as he weilds his knives like a master, as he fights like one who has seen death, and inflicts pain like someone who takes immense pleasure from it.
Han Jaejoong is beyond ordinary.
Han Yunho.
The one person, perhaps, who is able to keep Jaejoong at bay, Yunho is Jaejoong's drugs when the child's pills run out.
At twenty six, Yunho has seen much more than a person ever should. An unwanted child, a misunderstood teenager, and a cold adult, Yunho is all that rolled into one. There is practically no warmth in the man that he will show, perhaps only to his two 'brothers'.
His calm and ability to think through the most direst of situations have placed him as the leader of the three, as well as his selfless-ness for the safety of both Yoochun and his Jaejoong.
His Jaejoong. The young teenager is his, being the only one who has managed to break through Yunho's walls of steel, and land a place in his heart.
What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Perhaps that is the motto Yunho lives by. And perhaps what hasn't killed him has made him colder as well. Though seemingly heartless on the outside, be aware that he would break his back for Yoochun, as well as his Jaejoong.
Han Yoochun.
Among the three, Han Yoochun is easily the equilibrium, balancing out the scales of the childlike innocence of Jaejoong, and the painfully cold exterior that is Yunho.
At twenty three, he is but a junior in university, but already holds the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Born with a natural charm and warmth that his surroundings have not yet managed to steal from him, Yoochun is the brains, as well of the heart of the group. He is the soft smiles, the tension-easier, the mood pacifier and the prodigy, able to bring out the secret warmth of Yunho and the sanity in Jaejoong, as well as plan and execute the most complicated of plans for their missions.
The worst thing you could probably do is underestimate his handsome face, for although he is the one with the most compassion among his team mates, he can and will get as wild as Jaejoong when angered.
Shim Changmin.
The older of the two brothers. Shim Changmin is a person with the most complicated of pasts. At twenty one, he is the legally adopted son of Shim Siwon, the Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and despite living with him for the past three years, neither are closer to understanding each other.
Changmin is an open book, painfully gullible and trusting to the people around him, although his past still stands as a danger zone no one has yet managed to pass. The pain of what he has gone through as a child has shifted Changmin to be slightly off the rocker, though it is nowhere near Jaejoong's borderline insanity.
Shim Karam.
Two years older than Jaejoong, yet both are in the same class. Karam hails from Japan, saved from an orphanage run by an abusive Head. Despite his youth, Karam holds a maturity and understanding of Changmin's past that both work together to overcome.
The child is painfully shy, and almost never trusting, his eyes always aware of everything around him. His observance is his strength, as he can easily pick out weaknesses of others, though never does he manipulate that ability to his own use.
Karam is both brother and saviour of Changmin, teaching his elder brother that hope exists in the world, no matter how dire the situation.
Han Junsu.
A new team mate for Yunho, Jaejoong and Yoochun, Junsu is the one of the best Outposts there is, next to Yunho and Yoochun. He is perhaps the most meticulously trained, despite joining Nine in his late teens. Origins of Junsu are clearly unknown, though no one has taken the steps to question this fact.
Junsu lacks the basic trait of morality, something that is common for Outposts to be without. But being around three Outposts that do, their belief system frustrates him greatly, and Junsu unconsciously causes rifts whenever he is present.
Being someone regularly shielded from the outside world, Junsu learns more and more everyday, being around his new team mates. However it is this knowledge that will one day endanger not only him, but everyone else in his surroundings.
Han Kangta.
The Head of Nine. Brutally cold, yet like everyone else in the story, shares a painful past that is difficult to overcome.
Han Yoona.
Wife to Kangta. Her beauty is not her only strong point as she joins her husband in ruling Nine as the vice-head. Breath-takingly pretty yet equally cold, Yoona is adamant on curbing Nine from the direction of the cruel iron fist of Kangta's deceased father into something she hopes to be better.
Shim Siwon.
The Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Changmin and Karam's adoptive father.
Shim Leeteuk.
The Head of Renegade, the anti-government organization trying to run the show.
