How Much do Dreams Cost?
Description
What has a higher value?
Big money or big dreams?
Sophie Henson is a college freshman who eat, sleeps, and breaths Ballet, if it was up to her she would be on a stage performing instead of wasting time at some university. Not only does she hear negative comments from her parents who are shoving college down because they claim Ballerinas don't make money, and she'll forever be financially unstable, but from everyone else she hears how Black girls can't be professional Ballerinas. Despite all the negativity, Sophie still chooses to go after her dreams, but the constant fear of failing keeps her from giving it her all
Which is completely opposite of Oh Sehun, the only son of a sickly father who owns almost everything in their town, from banks to convienent stores. With his father being sick, at any moment Sehun is to inherit the company and there's nothing that he fears more. All his life has been about the skill of financing and learning how to run mulitiple companies. He's never thought of anything else besides running companies, he's never had dreams of his own.
So when the two meet, the arguement of whether dreams or money is more important has them forced to walk in each other shoes and experience different point of views.
Foreword
Sophie's POV
As I watch the glass window get stained by my breath, I watch the ladies practice in their studio.
I was five years old and that memory has been burned in my head every since, because that was what started it all.
"I shouldn't be eating this" I whine to my friend Vanessa as we stuff our faces with party sized Cool Ranch Doritos
"No worries, we'll go for a jog later" she says, but she always says that when I'm on my health guilt trip.
Vanessa was my only friend, and probably the only person in this entire city who believed in me and my dreams about being a professional Ballet dancer.
She works out with me, picks me up from my late at night ballet practices, comes to every recital, beats the hell out of new Pointe shoes to break them in, and always reminds me that being a Black Ballerina might be hard, but it is not imposible.
If only my own family was like her.
Sehun's POV
"And that includes our session for today" my tutor tells me, "I'll be quizzing you tomorrow, so be ready" he tells me
"I will be, I've always have for the past eight years" I assure him
We say our goodbyes and I get ready for my father's business meeting, which I too have been attending for eight years
I watch as they discuss the recent problems that have been happening within the companies, and amazingly my father had a solution to every problem.
How does he do it?
How would I be able to do it?
