Chapter 19

 A Different Side 

Two weeks had passed since Ki Joon started in kindergarten, things were going slow, but fine and you were getting him ready for kindergarten. Since two weeks had passed and he seemed to be doing well, you could finally get back to your work.

You said that you would take Ki Joon to kindergarten and Yongguk could pick him up. But you wanted to get him ready.

Ki Joon was in the bathroom with you and the both of you were still in your pajamas. You wore a long and oversized black t-shirt. Ki Joon and you were standing in front of the sink and brushing your teeth. Since Ki Joon was small and short, you helped him wash his toothbrush.

He looked at you as he brushed his teeth and washed his mouth. You looked down at him and giggled.

“Well done.” You praised him.

 “Now, let’s wash your face.” You said and he nodded.

Yongguk walked up to the bathroom and he knocked on the door, knowing that the two of you were washing.

“Come in.” You said.

Yongguk slowly opened the door and his eyes landed on you first, to see if you were properly dressed. He saw your long-oversized t-shirt that went to your knees. You had your hair pulled up in a bun, and he rarely saw you like this.

You looked at Yongguk, he was dressed for work and your cheeks suddenly heated up, because you had just washed your face and brushed your teeth. You were still in your pajama and you weren’t wearing any makeup at all. Yongguk rarely saw you like this, as you had been hiding from him.

“Need any help in here? I still have some time left.” He said.

“I need to wash Ki Joon’s face.” You said.

Yongguk’s eyes wandered to the little boy, who was standing beside you and he placed his toothbrush back in the holder. He looked up, and Yongguk knew that the kid couldn’t reach the sink and he needed to be carried up.

You looked at Yongguk as he happily walked up to the boy, and in a matter of seconds, he lifted up Ki Joon in his strong arms.

“Did you brush your teeth?” He asked and the little boy nodded.

Yongguk chuckled- “Good job.” He said and the boy smiled.

You for the faucet. Yongguk looked at the boy and asked him if he wanted to try to wash his face and he nodded. Yongguk then moved him towards the faucet and Ki Joon couldn’t help but giggle and he touched the water.

You looked at the two playful boys, and Ki Joon moved his hands under the water and he splashed it on his face.

“Rub your face.” Yongguk said and the little boy listened and rubbed his face with his small hands and you giggled.

Yongguk suddenly looked at you and chuckled. He watched you open the drawer and take out his lotion.

“Good Job, Ki Joon-ie. We are done now.” He said, but the little boy began to splash with the water.

Yongguk laughed. “Okay now, kiddo, you can stop.”

Ki Joon giggled and he turned off for the faucet and he put the boy back down. Yongguk let out a small groan and you laughed.

“We should buy a little chair for him, which he can stand on and wash his face.” You said as you looked at Yongguk.

He met your gaze and nodded. He liked your idea and it would be convenient for the pair of you.

“Let’s go out later.” He said and you nodded.

“Okay.” You cooed. “Come here.” You said to the little boy and he got up to you.

You bent down to his eye level and you rubbed his face with lotion. Ki Joon closed his eyes and you smiled. Yongguk looked down at the pair of you and he cleared his throat.

“I’m going to leave for work now.” He said and you looked up and met his gaze and you nodded.

Yongguk ruffled the kid’s hair and he then walked up to you and tapped your shoulder suddenly. “Have a nice first day on your job.” He said and you looked up and blinked a couple of times.

“Thank you, Yongguk.”

He smiled and finally took off. You stared back at the boy, who began to rub his cheeks with the crème he had on. Yongguk was being so kind suddenly, and you shook your head. You smiled as you looked at your little boy.

“We are done now. let’s get you changed.” You said and he nodded.

Ki Joon quickly ran off to his room and you followed him. You laughed as you got into his room and found him in front of his closet. He was looking for what to wear and he was really happy. It seemed like he looked forward to going to kindergarten now. You finally got him dressed.

Before leaving the house, you made sure to give Tigger some food. The brown poodle jumped on your leg and you bent down and it.

Ki Joon got beside you and cuddled into Tigger. “Say goodbye to Tigger.” You said.

“Bye bye Tigger. I’m going to kindergarten now.” The little boy said and your heart melted.

The brown and fluffy poodle was busy with eating its food, and the two of you left after locking the door. You drove off to Ki Joon’s kindergarten.

Ki Joon held your hand as he entered his kindergarten with you and you smiled upon seeing him this happy. You were in the dressing room with the little boy and you he took off his jacket and shoes and placed them at his closet.

You couldn’t help but smile, upon seeing how good he was and mannered. Ki Joon was such a smart kid. He then grabbed your hand again and quickly led you to his classroom and you followed him. His teacher Soo Jin was in the room and she walked up and greeted you.

“Hello, Soo Jin-ssi.” You said.

Ki Joon quickly took off and you watched him run off to a few boys, and they all giggled together. Your heart melted. He already made friends.

“Sera-ssi, can we have a little talk?” Ki Joon’s teacher said and you nodded.

The both of you walked off to a quitter corner and you were wondering about what she had to say. She seemed a bit serious and you were getting nervous. Was Ki Joon not doing well?

“I want to talk about your son.” She said and you nodded.

“I want to let you know that Ki Joon is doing so well and we all very happy for him. He is a smart kid, although he is quiet, he has made some good friends.” She said and smiled.

The corners of your mouth curved up and your eyes beamed. You got so happy to hear that and most of all relieved.

“He’s quick on adapting to new environment.” She added and you nodded.

“Thank you for helping him.” You said and she shook her head and smiled.

You then walked back into the room and found Ki Joon in a corner playing with some other boys. You looked at him and waved your hand to him, letting him know that you are leaving now. Ki Joon suddenly ran up to you and your eyes widened.

He wrapped his arms around your legs and hugged into you. Your heart dropped to your stomach and you bent down and looked into his round eyes. You his head gently and smiled.

“Yongguk will come and pick you up and then we can go out shopping.” You said and the little boy nodded.

You pulled him into you and hugged him, and your heart melted as you held the small boy in your arms. He warmed your heart and made you feel so calm and loved. Ki Joon pulled back and suddenly pressed his small and pouty lips on your cheek, gently.

Your eyes widened and you giggled. He kissed you, and you were certain that it was the first time he did that. You giggled and pecked both his cheeks, and you really wished that Yongguk saw this. Ki Joon giggled and hugged you once more.

“Go and play.” You said and he nodded and ran off to his new friends.

You left the kindergarten and got in your car. You had to tell Yongguk about this, so you took your phone out of your bag and sent him a text. You were giggling and you messaged him.

Ki Joon just kissed my cheek!! For the first time :D omg!

A few seconds passed and your phone buzzed and you received his reply. You opened his text and read it.

Jerk: Really? Sweet. I want a kiss too.

You laughed at his reply and then you suddenly remembered that he was still named as jerk in your contact list. You giggled at it and placed your phone back. You didn’t want to change it just yet, you sort of liked it now.

You drove off to work and you looked forward to coming back to your workplace, after being gone for so long. It had probably been a few months now, since you moved it. Around three months.

Time just went by fast. You had such a nice work place, that your position was still there, waiting for you. Hours had passed by on work, and you were soon getting off from work.

Yongguk was currently in his studio and it was past three pm, and he had been at work for seven hours and he was getting off in a few minutes. He was composing some music with some musical artists and his friends. Daehyun was in the studio and singing.

Yongguk mixed the tune and then signaled for him to come out of the recording studio. Daehyun walked out and met his older friend and asked him how he did. Yongguk was smiling.

“Your vocals have improved a lot. You should rehearse with Youngjae next time.” Yongguk said and Daehyun nodded.

“Are you leaving now?’” He asked.

Yongguk looked at his friend and nodded- “I need to get my kid from kindergarten and I’m going out with Sera and the boy.”

“Oh, really? Where to?” Daehyun asked with a smile on his face.

“We have to buy a small chair for Ki Joon. And I’m thinking that we should eat out, since it’s getting late and Sera is back to work.” Yongguk said as he got up from his chair and he grabbed his black leather jacket.

A grin formed on Daehyun’s handsome face, upon seeing his friend be considerate towards you.

“I thought you told me that you didn’t like her.” Daehyun said and Yongguk looked at his friend with a still look.

“What are you on about again?’” He shook his head and left the studio and Daehyun laughed.

Yongguk quickly drove off the kindergarten and he took out his phone from his pocket and messaged you.

You were getting off work, and your phone suddenly buzzed and your eyes widened upon seeing a message from Yongguk.

Jerk: I’m going to pick up Ki Joon now. Be ready, when we come home and we’ll go out.

You read his message and replied back.

Yongguk’s phone buzzed, and he looked down and once it became red, he grabbed his phone and read your message.

Kwon: I’m going home now. I’ll be ready. See you in a bit.

Yongguk put his phone back and drove off to Ki Joon.

Ki Joon was running around in the playground, when Yongguk entered the place and he looked out and saw his friend play with some of the other kids in the kindergarten. The corners of his lips curved up into a smile. He walked in and stopped to look at the boy.

The sun was out and it was shining brightly and the little boy was running around in his shorts and t-shirt, so happily. Yongguk chuckled upon seeing Ki Joon this happy and it seemed like he was adapting better than he had expected. He sighed of relief.

“Ki Joon-ah.” Yongguk called out.

The little boy stopped running, he turned around and saw his young father waiting him. Ki Joon giggled and he hurriedly ran up to the older male. Yongguk smiled widely, upon seeing the little boy run up to him.

He quickly bent down and grabbed the kid in his arm and pulled him up. Ki Joon laughed and held onto Yongguk.

“Did you have fun today, kiddo?” Yongguk asked as he walked back to the changing room, to get Ki Joon’s stuff.

The little boy shook his head and Yongguk asked if he had lunch and the boy nodded again. Yongguk continued smiling, because Ki Joon warmed his heart.

They talked about his day in the kindergarten on their way back home and Ki Joon was speaking a lot more than usual.

Yongguk figured that Ki Joon was really happy about his new kindergarten, hence he kept talking about all the things he did. Yongguk listened intently and smiled and laughed with his little boy.

You finally made it home and you were instantly met by Tigger at the door. The brown poodle jumped on your legs, happy to see you, but you had to leave it. You quickly it and went to refill its food, and the dog ran after you.

“See you later, Tigger.” You said.

You then hurried upstairs to get changed. It had been your first day back at work, you had to get used to being at work again. You could feel the tiredness in your body, but you really wanted to go out. You rarely got to out, as the three of you.

Yongguk and Ki Joon made it to the parking lot and you heard them honk for you, and you laughed to yourself. You hurried down and to his car.

Yongguk tilted his head to the side and he watched you walk down to the car. His eyes wandered from your face and down. Your hair was pulled up in a high ponytail, and you kept some lose hair- strands out and your hair was wavy.

His eyes moved down on you, you wore a simple outfit, a black top, and dark blue jeans and black ballerina shoes. You looked up and met his gaze.

Yongguk was looking at you from his driver’s seat and you blinked a couple of times and he suddenly adverted his gaze.

You walked up to the car and noticed Ki Joon, who was seated in the backseat, in his safety- child seat and got in the car and sat beside him.

“Are we ready to go?” Yongguk asked and you nodded- “Yeah, let’s go.”

He nodded to you as he looked at you through the rear- view mirror. The three off you took off to buy a little chair for Ki Joon.

“So, where are we going?” You asked Yongguk.

Yongguk looked at you through the rear view and replied- “Ikea, they should have something for Ki Joon.” He said and you nodded.

Yongguk saw you smile wildly. “Just, please Kwon, don’t go crazy in there.” He said and you rolled your eyes.

“I can’t promise you that.” You said and showed him an innocent smile and he froze.

Yongguk tightened his grip on the steering wheel. He shook his head and muttered under his breath- “Women.”

“I heard that.” You quickly said and he became quiet.

It was past 4 pm, when you arrived in Gyeonggi-do, to Ikea. You loved coming to Ikea, who didn’t? they had everything and whenever you came to Ikea, you wanted to see almost everything.

Yongguk looked behind him after he parked the car and he saw how your eyes beamed and he sighed deeply. He would never come out of Ikea.

You stepped out of the car and helped the little boy get out of the car. Yongguk was still behind, when you and Ki Joon suddenly ran off to the store and he stood there, gapping and wondering about what he had gotten himself into. He suddenly felt like he had to take care of two kids.

But he couldn’t help but laugh, at seeing how Ki Joon held your hand and you hurriedly went to store. Yongguk quickly ran up to the two of you- mother and son. He chuckled, when he made it to your side and you entered the store.

“We have to go to the kid’s section.” You quickly said as you entered the elevator and you pressed on the button, leading to the floor and he nodded.

You were excited like a little kid and Yongguk had never seen you like this before. The little boy felt excited too somehow. Your mood was contagious and affected the little boy and he giggled away, pulling your hand back and forth.

Yongguk looked down and somehow couldn’t help but smile and you finally made it to the floor. The three of you stepped out and you smiled widely.

There were kid’s furniture and stuff everywhere, and you didn’t know where to begin. You just walked down the aisle and your looked wandered from left to right. Yongguk narrowed his eyes and he couldn’t help himself and observe you.

You suddenly turned around and Ki Joon just followed you. You stopped in front of a basket that was full of stuffed animal and you gasped. Ki Joon was suddenly immersed in the toys and he ran around the little toy section and Yongguk’s eyes widened right away. It finally began, just like he had expected.

You grabbed a big teddy bear and Ki Joon ran up to you after seeing the big brown bear. The bear was bigger than Ki Joon, but the little boy loved it and he grabbed it from you and tripped backwards and fell down on the floor.

But Ki Joon giggled and hugged onto the stuffed bear whilst laying on the floor. Ki Joon disappeared under the stuffed animal and you laughed at him, and he giggled happily.

“What are the two of you doing? We came to buy a chair.” Yongguk said and you rolled your eyes at him.

“Don’t be so mad, Bang. Ki Joon is having fun.” You said as you walked up to him and he froze and looked into your eyes and you giggled.

“Isn’t that the important thing?” You asked him as you finally stood in front of him.

Yongguk looked down at you and into your deep brown eyes and he noticed how close you were standing to him. You looked up and into his dark eyes for a moment. He could smell the scent of cherry blossoms coming from your hair, and you smelled so wonderful and sweet.

He pursed his lips and looked silently into your eyes. You noticed how he became silent and you laughed.

“We are buying that teddy bear.” You said with a clear tone and scrunched your face at him and he scoffed back.

You turned around and grabbed the teddy bear from the little boy, because he couldn’t carry it since it was heavy. Yongguk saw the smile on Ki Joon’s face and he sighed. It seemed like Ki Joon also wanted it. 

You walked around searching for the section where the chairs were, and it was such a huge store and the three of you ended up getting lost, but you didn’t mind it at all. It was like being in a playground and being a kid all over.

Yongguk asked a worker, about where he could get the small chairs for kids, and got the direction and he hoped to not get lost again.

“Kwon?” Yongguk turned around and looked for you, but you were suddenly gone with the kid and he let out a deep sigh.

He looked around him and couldn’t seem to find you anywhere and he furrowed his brows. He moved his hand inside the pocket of his jacket as he walked down the aisle and past people. He rang you up and looked around him.

What was I thinking by coming here?

Yongguk continued walking down and his steps halted and he stared out. He found the two of you and you were looking at some small toy figures and you smiled so widely. Ki Joon was laughing and looking at the pretty figures.

“There you were, I couldn’t find you guys.”

You turned around and met Yongguk’s stare and he looked intently into your eyes. You could tell that he was annoyed, but you tried to brush it off.

“Look what we found.” You chimed and showed him the porcelain figures.

Yongguk grabbed the porcelain from your hand and he placed it back on the shelf and you froze and turned to look at him.

“Ki Joon come.” He said calmly and the little boy got up to his side.

Yongguk suddenly grabbed your arm and he pulled you towards him. You gasped, when you got pulled into him. You bumped into him and looked up and into his brown eyes.

“Let’s get what we came for. I think I might have to keep you near me.” He said and you furrowed your brows and looked at him.

Yongguk suddenly moved his hand down your arm and you shuddered, at the light skin contact. He then took a hold of your hand and your eyes widened.

“What are you doing?” You asked him.

“Keeping you beside me, like I said.” He repeated.

You parted your lip and was about to protest, but he quickly turned around and walked down the store. You still had the big teddy bear in your arm. He held onto your free
