My Wit's End
Description
Honestly, Sunggyu didn't know why he felt so useless as a leader, and especially years into his role. Maybe it was because every ounce of talent he possessed seemed to crumble into dust when they were on a broadcasting show. Maybe it was the way he stumbled over his words in front of the camera at the most inopprotune times. Maybe it was even how his own dongsaengs poked and prodded his faults until they were giant cracks visible for everyone to see. Even his own boyfriend pushed his buttons while they were taping. Really, he just feels like curling up into a dark corner and never reveal his face to the world from all the embarrassment he's felt in just this week alone. Maybe this whole idol thing was a...mistake.
Foreword
"Hyung's been kind of down lately, Hyunnie. Why's that?" Dongwoo asked after watching his leader disappear into his shared room. I frowned. I didn't know why Gyu was so low these days.
"I don't known he hasn't talked to me in almost two weeks, Hyung." I replied as I sat down on the couch. Sunggyu has been acting strange lately. He seems normal when we go to talk shows, and variety tapings, and radio shows. Even in practice when the managers are watching us he acts like his hamster self. But, the minute we walk through the door, the facade crumbles away and he disappears into our room with slumped shoulders.
"Maybe Gyu Hyung is tired, or sick." Sungjong suggested as he fiddled with the ear of his white bear. "I haven't hit Gyu bear in almost two weeks... That's how long it's been since Hyung has really talked to me."
"He doesn't eat as much with us either. I haven't seen him at the dining table for a couple of days now, too." Sungyeol said, concern etched into the forever elementary kid's face.
"Last night when I walked by the bathroom, I thought I heard someone crying..." Myungsoo spoke up timidly. We all turned to look at him. "Sunggyu Hyung came out after a while. I couldn't see his face."
"What's going on with Gyu Hyung?" Hoya muttered as he glanced at the closed door. I stood up and paused at the door before knocking on it.
"Yah, Hyung? Can I come in?" I asked gently. There was no response. I frowned and looked back at the others. I knocked again a little louder.
"Maybe he's just sleeping and we're all worrying for nothing." Dongwoo suggested hopefully. I pushed open the door to reveal darkness. The curtains were closed and all the lights off. In the middle of our queen bed was a lump of pillows and blankets cocooning Sunggyu. A soft sniffle came from the pile of blankets and I rushed to Gyu's side worriedly. Sunggyu's earbuds were playing loud enough for me to hear the music, it was his solo 'Because'. His eyes were clenched close as if he were having a nightmare, and tears freely rolled down his cheeks. I shook him from his stupor and wiped away the tears.
"Gyubear! Waeyo?" I asked as I pulled him into my embrace. He was stiff at first, but then melted into my arms. Why is he crying? What's happened to my lover?
