7 myths about KPOP make-up artists:

1. We feel so blessed and fortunate to be able to touch the faces of KPOP stars.

2. We all love our jobs.

3. We travel and dress in style, similar to KPOP stars.

4. We don’t mind getting up at 3am, just to help our artist get ready for their early performances.

5. Our parents are very proud of us.

6. We are filthy rich and have high social status.

7. We all live very glamorous and romantic/ melo-drama lives.

Annyeonghaseyo, ladies and gentlemen, my name is Sandara Park and this is my story as a struggling make-up artist in South Korea, Seoul. Don’t judge me like a picture book, although I may look petite, weak and fragile, I’m actually quite tough and have a never-die spirit. Well, at least I think I do.

I’ve been studying make-up and visual designs for 5 years now in Ewha Woman’s university, and I’m currently in the mids of my internship with a popular make-up studio situated in Gangnam district.

Yes. I do see a lot of KPOP idols, atresses and actors. No, I do not fancy ANY OF THEM.

They are not what they seem on your programs. Cute? Thoughtful? Gentle? Innocent???  ANIYEYO. Completely WRONG.

Anyway back to my story, my dream is to be a make-up artist at YG for actress, Yoo In Na unnie. –insert sparkly eyes-

She has been my role model and inspiration to strive for this career and obtain that position! Ya ya, you must be thinking, but you just said KPOP idols and artists are not what they seem. Let me tell you, I’ve got a strong instinct and my instincts always tells me that Yoo In Na unnie is different and true to what she seems!

But right now, sigh… I’m still stuck in intern, washing brushes in the toilet for other make-up artists… Tsk.
