Rain, more rain

Rain equals Heaven

He was strolling in the park, enjoying the good weather with a smile on his face. The sun was totally visible, only some clouds were there in the sky. It wasn't too cold, wasn't too hot; just the perfect temperature. He was alone, but it didn't stop him from being the happiest boy of the world. Then, he spotted the children having fun not so far from him. Right next to them were their parents, their grandparents. The boy walked to them and started talking to them. They already knew each others and they would always talk about the kids and their own childhood. He missed being a child. And most of all: he missed his big brother. He was the greatest person of the world, yet he had to leave so young… The young boy had tears everytime he thought about that. He couldn't help, it was his nature. How he wished his brother was still alive so they could stroll around together, happily.

When they all had to leave, he stayed alone there, sitting on a bench, staring at the sky. There were more clouds than earlier. He sighed. “Looks like it's going to rain…” He didn't like the rain because it kept reminding him his brother who had a car accident during a rainy day. Then he turned his head and spotted a new head. Yeah, let's say he knew almost everyone who came in the park because he was nice and super friendly. So he got up to his feet and walked to this newcomer with a smile, as the rain poured on him. “Hi!”

The other boy lifted his head as he was walking. “Hi.” He smiled.

“I'm Choi Youngjae! Feel free to call me Youngjae.” Youngjae smiled brightly, extending a hand to shake.

“I'm Im Jaebum.” Jaebum shook his hand then the latter asked him how he was. “I'm fine. What about you?” Youngjae told him that he felt great and thanked him for asking.

They told each others their ages. “Oh! Then I'll call you hyung! Mind if I call you JB-hyung? JB?” Jaebum blinked, raising his eyebrows as he was surprised someone would bother to give him a nickname. So he answered him that he liked it. “JB~” Youngjae smiled widely.

Suddenly, Jaebum took out his jacket and put it on the younger's shoulders. “You should've covered you better. You'll catch a cold.” Youngjae blinked, keeping the jacket on him with his hands. The older smiled. “I have to go. Bye Youngjae, and keep it as a gift.” He gently kissed his forehead and left the park, leaving the young boy blushing in surprise.

Jaebum reminded him his brother as well…

The next day was another free day from school so as usual, Youngjae went to the park. This time, he was hoping that he would meet Jaebum again. He would take the opportunity to give him back his jacket. Meanwhile, he kept it on his shoulders. Youngjae strolled around, talked to the parents, the grandparents and the children. It was a bright day, everyone was happy, but Jaebum didn't come.

The day after, Youngjae went to school, the jacket in his bag because who knows, maybe he would see Jaebum this time. As the morning was over, he walked through the hallways and he heard a new topic from the other students. “Daemin, did you see the new student?” The latter nodded, saying that he was tall and handsome, wearing a big and black earring on the right. Don't tell me that- “I can't agree more!”

Youngjae just ignored them as he kept walking to the canteen. When he arrived, he took his food, walked to take a seat but suddenly, someone bumped into him from behind, making him drop his tray and, of course, his food. He dumbly stared at it on the floor while most of the people around him were looking at him. Then, he felt a hand on his shoulder, and he turned his head to face the person behind him. It was one of his classmates, Kyujun. He is the strongest and is often involved in fights against other students for some reasons, but he was really nice. “Youngjae, are you okay?” The young boy nodded sightly. “I- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that to you.” Youngjae lifted his head and his eyes widened a bit. Jaebum was behind Kyujun, and he had a little bruise on the cheek, like he was having a fight with the other. “Do you- Do you need help? I will clean for you, because it's my fault, not yours.” Youngjae looked at Kyujun without saying anything as the latter left to take a broom.

Jaebum and Youngjae looked at each others, silently, while people around them were muttering stuff about them. “Kyujun already got into a fight against the new student!” “Puahaha, the newbie has no chance here. He'll leave as fast as he came.” “Poor baby Youngjae though.” Youngjae didn't care about them. He was just very surprised to see Jaebum here, in this school. Guess he was the new student everyone was talking about. Plus, he had the big and black earring on the right, his left ear.

“H- Hi, JB.” Youngjae smiled sightly, with an almost forced smile. The other boy blinked then smiled back, greeting him as well. Since everyone's attention was still on them, it was pretty awkward.

And Kyujun came back to clean. Youngjae looked at him, silently telling him that he didn't have to do that. But the fighter didn't mind and he quickly finished cleaning. Meanwhile, the young boy took his new food and finally got to take a seat, alone, his mind full of thoughts.

At the end of the day, Youngjae was heading to the park and at the exit of the school, he noticed someone waiting. It was Jaebum. What is he doing? Who is he waiting for? Youngjae thought. So, he passed him and he heard the older shouting. “Youngjae!” The boy stopped walking to face him as the latter caught up. “Why are you leaving without me?” Jaebum chuckled and Youngjae just shrugged.

“I love this place, this park, the persons here.” Jaebum nodded at what Youngjae said. Then the latter realized something. “Oh! By the way, I wanted to give you your jacket!” He opened his bag and looked inside.

Jaebum shook his head and put a hand on Youngjae's to stop him. “No, I told you I don't want it. It's yours now.” He smiled softly. “Not that it's good to be thrown away, but I want you to keep it.” Shyly, Youngjae closed his bag and smiled a bit, thanking his hyung. “No need to thank me, it's normal.” They smiled at each others.

Just like his brother…

As the time passed by, the two boys were even closer to each others than before. Two months later, Jaebum invited Youngjae to go to the cinema. They watched a sci-fi movie and Jaebum loved it a lot, but it was just fine for the younger boy.

Then, after the cinema, as there was no school this day, they went to the restaurant to properly eat, because popcorns weren't enough. They chose to eat fries with chicken and some ketchup, because why not. May be classic, but after the cinema, that was what they wanted to eat. “You need to get some fat in these cheeks of yours!” Youngjae told Jaebum while trying to pinch his cheeks. Eventually, the latter whined and pouted, even though it wasn't his style, making Youngjae roll his eyes, and they laughed together.

While eating, Youngjae noticed something so he stared at Jaebum while he kept eating. Then, he lifted his head to look at his dongsaeng, raising an eyebrow. “Is there anything wrong, Youngjae?” Youngjae nodded slightly and proceeded to wipe the small amount of ketchup on the corner of the older's mouth with a tissue. At the contact, Jaebum blushed. “H- Hum o- okay thank- thank you.”

Meanwhile, Youngjae eyesmiled. “No problem, JB-hyung.”

Later this day, Jaebum walked Youngjae home. The young boy was a bit tired, but he enjoyed everything they have done. Jaebum was a really nice and handsome person, just like his brother. Youngjae missed him so much… maybe he was seeing him in Jaebum, and that may be why he was liking him a bit too much… wait what? “There we are, young boy.” Jaebum smiled to Youngjae as they arrived in front of the younger's house.

He bowed. “Thanks, hyung.” He smiled tiredly and the older hugged him tightly, making him widen his eyes and blush a bit.

Then, Jaebum let him go with a smile. “Today was fun. I hope you had fun as well!” Youngjae nodded. “Good. Now I have to leave you…” The older boy sighed and Youngjae looked down. Jaebum lifted his head with two fingers under his chin. “Hey, don't be sad. It's just a goodbye, we'll see each others soon, I promise you!” He grinned and his dongsaeng smiled. “Well… See you soon, and take care.” He leaned forward and kissed him on the forehead, making him blush more. Then he walked away, leaving Youngjae standing on the doorway, not able to move.

Eventually, his mother opened the door. “Youngjae? What are you waiting for?” Hearing his name made him turn to look at her. He apologized and went into his bedroom.

Youngjae sat on his bed, thinking about the day, and what he did with his hyung. Without realizing, he kept smiling while daydreaming. It was so amazing, like it was one of the best days of his life, even though it sounded a bit boring, but it wasn't with just anyone! He was with Jaebum, and no one else. Jaebum wasn't anyone, he was Youngjae's sunshine, and big brother. Youngjae wanted him to be by his sides, right now. He felt the need to be with him, to hear his voice, to feel his skin…

Youngjae shook his head. What was he thinking about? What's going on with me…? He sighed deeply. He certainly needed some sleep.

Bright day, perfect day. Youngjae was strolling through the park, once again. He sat on a bench, as if he was waiting for someone but, honestly, he just sat there for the sake of being sat. “Bye problems~” Youngjae smiled brightly to himself whilst chuckling like a happy child. The park was deserted. The kids and all weren't there. Youngjae was all alone. But suddenly, someone arrived and sat next to him.

Youngjae turned his head only to widen his eyes. Either he was dreaming, or he was able to see ghosts. Either way, that couldn't be real. “B- Br- Brother…?” The man on his right looked at him. “H- How…” After a few seconds, he smiled at the young boy who wasn't able to speak again.

After spending a few minutes staring at each others, his brother got to his feet as Youngjae was about to say something else. He walked away, then stopped to look at his little brother to tell him something, but the latter didn't get it so he got up and followed him, still shocked by the sudden situation.

The sky was getting darker and darker, dark clouds coming from everywhere and taking place above their heads. Suddenly, Youngjae heard voices from around him. He stopped walking to turn his head, look behind him, everywhere. He saw them. The bullies. “Oh, what a surprise. Choi Youngjae~” A girl, who seemed to be the leader of the group, spoke up as she clenched her fists with a smirk on her face, looking into Youngjae's eyes. The poor boy was paralyzed by fear. He wasn't able to do anything. The other members of the group walked closer to him, smirking and ready to punch him right in the face. Youngjae couldn't fight back because he was weak. So weak. “Poor little thing~” She laughed with her group. “Guys, go for it!” She shouted and they started to come even closer to him to punch him.

Youngjae tried to scream, but he couldn't so he closed his eyes and covered his head with his hands. “Don't you dare touching my brother!” Youngjae widened his eyes and saw his brother fighting the bullies. He was alone, but he managed to fight them. They were strong and weren't holding their power, meaning that they could have killed Youngjae if he wasn't there to protect him. Tears began falling from the sky, as if it was crying from all the blood leaving these people.

Youngjae stayed still, paralyzed from head to toe. He closed his eyes, once again, scared to see the rough war taking place in front of him. After a moment, he heard someone else he never thought he would hear. “Youngjae-yah! I do this… for you!” He opened his eyes and stared at him.

He was getting rid of the bullies. By killing them. It was raining hard but it was like nothing could stop him. They were scared of him but they had to fight for their lives. “Jae… Jaebum-hyung…” Youngjae's voice was shaking from fear. Fear to lose someone important to him. Someone he cared about. Someone he loved… Jaebum took Youngjae's brother's place and had scares everywhere on his body. His clothes were ripped and covered in blood. He was injured. He was suffering. Youngjae was suffering. Suffering from seeing him hurt. He felt like he was watching a horror movie… wait, no, he felt like living it, not just watching. All the bodies… the corpses… on the floor… the blood… the anger in Jaebum's eyes… It was beyond scary. Youngjae wanted to stop it, to take the remote and press the Stop button, or leave the scene, leave the disaster, but he couldn't. It was way too hard for him. All he wanted at the moment was to wake up from this nightmare or whatever it was.

But suddenly, the leader of the bullies came out of nowhere behind Jaebum. Youngjae wanted to warn him, but it was already too late because Jaebum couldn't dodge it. She had a metal stick in her hands and she hit Jaebum's head, hard enough to make him fall to the point where he stopped moving, and breathing. Youngjae was even more scared. What was he supposed to do? Running away. To save his own life. “It's your turn, young boy!” The leader shouted as she ran to him, making him flinch to death. He had to leave, to run away from this murderer, but he was paralyzed. His eyes were locked on her, then on his hyung's corpse. Jaebum… And as the girl was about to hit him, he closed his eyes and woke up in his bed with sweats everywhere, screaming. His scream wasn't loud enough to wake his parents and he was glad. He was glad to know that everything was just a nightmare, nothing more than that.

Youngjae rubbed his face and yawned. Then, he took his phone on the table next to him and looked at the time. 4:29AM… He sighed deeply and proceeded to get up. He was more than tired and wanted to sleep again, but he had to wake up around 6AM for school so he decided not to do that. He was scared he'd be late if he did.

He went into the kitchen and took a glass of water. The room was totally silent and dark, even though the moon was visible through the window, like in horror movies. Youngjae took a sit at the table and stared at his own face in the water. He looked messy, tired, and pitiful. He was still asking himself why this nightmare happened, why were there the bullies from middle school, and more important: Jaebum… who sacrificed himself for him. Sure, there was his big brother too since he missed him so much, but Jaebum? The young boy thought about how he looked at him when he was fighting the bullies… and it made his heart skip a beat. This look had all Jaebum's feelings, like he loved Youngjae so much he was willing to do anything for him. Youngjae blushed and shook his head, telling himself that there was no way he could be in love with his hyung. But the more he thought about that, his heart was beating faster and his cheeks were redder. So he took his glass and drank its content. Fresh water… exactly what I needed. He sighed and headed back to his room.

Youngjae's eyelids were clearly closed. He was sleeping with a little smile like a baby, that looked cute. But suddenly, something hit his head, waking him. He winced at the pain and proceeded to sit properly, then he opened his eyes only to see an angry math teacher. “Mr. Choi, nights are made for sleeps. Maybe you were too busy this night so you have to sleep during my lesson.” Youngjae blinked as his classmates were laughing at him, saying that he must have been busy doing “things” with Jaebum. His face turned red and he looked down as the teacher scolded the other students.

The lesson ended well, Youngjae managed to do his best even though he was really tired. He had a dream whilst sleeping for what seemed like twenty minutes. There was Jaebum, once again. It wasn't a nightmare this time, it was just Jaebum… being nice with Youngjae… telling him how cute he was… kissing him… Something he never though he would have a dream about.

Since it was lunch, he had to find Jaebum to eat with him, like usually. Looked like Jaebum found him first. “Hey, Youngjae-yah!” Youngjae slightly jumped at the sound of his voice, then he looked at his face, blushed a bit and looked down. He couldn't look at him in the eyes after that. “Are you alright? You don't look well.” Youngjae nodded and Jaebum blinked. “Hm… okay then. Let's go eat.” The older smiled and they both went to the canteen.

Food of the day: Salad, tomatoes, eggs, mayo and cucumbers. Those cucumbers were hidden deep inside the plate. So when Jaebum started eating, Youngjae noticed something familiar, and green. Cucumbers… He flinched.

Jaebum lifted his head to look at him, an eyebrow raised. “Youngjae? Are you okay?” The younger boy flinched again and stared at the latter in silent. A few seconds later, Jaebum blinked. “Huh… Youngjae?” Youngjae looked down at his plate and took his fork to pick the cucumbers inside. Then, he showed him.

“You see these, hyung?” Jaebum nodded in confusion. “Those little things there, on my fork… do you know who they are?” The older raised an eyebrow, not sure about what to answer.

“Huh… cucumbers-”

“Yes but no!” Youngjae shook his fork in front of him. “These things are my ennemies!” Jaebum remained speechless. What was he supposed to say anyway? “Can you imagine what would've happened if I started eating before you? I'd die!” He blinked.

“Okay, give them to me and we stop talking about that, alright?” Youngjae stayed silent for a short moment then proceeded to put all his cucumbers into his hyung's plate. “Good boy.” Jaebum smiled as he the younger's hair. People around them were staring. They wondered if both of them were gay or something.

Youngjae was strolling in the park, enjoying the good weather with a bright smile on his face. The sun was totally visible, only some clouds were there in the sky. It wasn't too cold, wasn't too hot; just the perfect temperature. He wasn't alone and felt like he was the happiest boy of the world. Then, he spotted the children having fun not so far from him. Right next to them were their parents, their grandparents. They were happily watching the kids, as usually. The young boy turned his head to look at his tall friend. “Jaebum-hyung~ If only you knew how amazing you are~” They smiled at each others, and chuckled, while walking.

“You're amazing too, you know.” Jaebum put an arm around Youngjae's shoulders. “My wonderful Youngjae~” The younger blushed and the older chuckled again. He pinched his dongsaeng's cheek with a wide smile. “You're so cuuute~” Youngjae blushed even more and had to slap his hand away to hide his embarrassment with his own hands. Jaebum blinked a bit then smiled again. “Why are you hiding your cute cheeks? I wanna see them~” He laughed and proceeded to kiss his nose. Youngjae couldn't contain it anymore, his face went totally red.

“Wh- Why are you doing this to me!?” He shouted, still embarrassed, making Jaebum laugh.

“Because my heart told me to.” He answered whilst smiling warmly. Youngjae felt like the time was frozen. His heart skipped a beat and he clearly knew that he wanted it. They stared into each others' eyes and noticed the sparkles in them. Silently and slowly, both of them leaned forward until their lips meet. Youngjae felt butterflies in his stomach, it was weird but pretty nice… He closed his eyes, then, after a short while, he felt something odd on his mouth. He slowly opened his eyes and Jaebum has disappeared. The young boy wasn't in the park anymore. He was… at school. In the garden or something, on a bench. The weird thing was his schoolbag.

“Another dream with hyung…” He sighed. “Why is it happening to me, seriously?” He thought for a short moment, then brought an hand to his chest, where his heart was beating a bit fast. He bit his bottom lip. “I guess… that I really fell in love with him…” A little smile appeared on his face as he was thinking about Jaebum. Then, he shook his head and opened his bag to take a look at his schedule. He took his phone and looked at the time, only to widen his eyes. “Oh , I'm super late!” He put everything in order and ran to his class.

––––– ☁ –––––

Youngjae was on his bed, trying to relax. It was the end of the day and he wasn't calm. How was he supposed to be calm after having three dreams involving his hyung in the same day and realizing that he was in love with him? He couldn't. Eventually, it was hard to believe that he had three dreams like that in less than a day.

Five days later, Youngjae was still struggling with his feelings. He had other dreams with JB, and it was being harder to resist the urge to put his lips on his hyung's. He had to bite his lip and sometimes, he did it so hard blood came out. On the other hand, Jaebum was being worried about him. He didn't know what to do to help him.

Both of them were walking home. They weren't together, they just left each others at school to go home by themselves. Youngjae was humming a happy song whilst whilst walking as the weather was good. But minutes later, he felt water pouring on his head. The sky was pretty cloudy but not dark, still it was raining. He sighed as he didn't have any umbrella to cover him, then he started to walk faster. Suddenly, someone arrived next to him and caught his arm. He turned his head only to see a man. A drunk man. “Hey, pretty lonely boy. You look…” He eyed Youngjae's body. “…very interesting.” The young boy started to have goosebumps as he looked at the man, who seemed to be a e. He tried to run away, but the latter wasn't going to let him go. “Where are you trying to go, pretty boy? Don't you want to come with me?” Youngjae was shaking from fear.

“N- No!!” The drunk man laughed. Youngjae didn't know what to do, what to say, but all he needed was Jaebum… All of a sudden, the man put a hand on Youngjae's thigh, and that's when he started to scream, punching the latter in his head. But he wasn't strong enough to make him stop. The tears were coming out of his eyes.

“Eat that, bastard!” The man released Youngjae to fall on the floor. The young boy widened his eyes as he looked at his savior. It was Jaebum… Then, the older boy took him in his arms, caressing his head. “Youngjae, are you alright?” He nodded, still crying silently, but it wasn't that noticeable since it was raining. “I had a bad feeling… about you… so I came here as fast as possible to be sure that you're okay…” Jaebum smiled warmly. But someone pulled him back, separating him from Youngjae.

“What do you think you're trying to do!? You want him too, right? Sorry, but it's first come, first serve!” The drunk man threw a fist toward Jaebum, who managed to dodge it. And they fought. Both of them were pretty strong. It was a real nightmare. Youngjae hoped that it was just another dream so everything would be alright, but something in the back of his head was telling him that it wasn't. It was real. He wasn't going to believe it. At all.

After a moment of not being able to move, he saw what he didn't want to see: the two men on the floor. The drunk man seemed… dead… And Jaebum looked alive, but very injured. Though his eyes were closed. Youngjae ran to him, very worried. “Hyung! Hyung, please, answer me!” Jaebum slowly opened his eyes to look at him.

“Youngjae… I'm… I'm so sorry…” He sounded weak.

But Youngjae shook his head. “Nuh- No, don't say that! You did that to… to save me! I'm very thankful to you, you're the… the best person I've ever met in my entire life, I-” His tears were falling from his eyes, it was being hard for him to speak. “I don't want to lose you! Please, be alright!”

“Don't worry about me, Youngjae… I'm okay…” Jaebum smiled.

“No you're not! I perfectly know you and I can see that you're not okay!” Youngjae yelled as he shook his head.

“Youngjae… I don't want to see you sad… I want you to be happy… Please, smile…” The younger boy raised his eyebrows, but proceeded to force a smile, for him. Then, Jaebum his hair. “Good boy… I'm proud of you…” He slowly sat up to give him his earring. “Here, take it… I love it a lot, so I want you to have it.” Youngjae blinked whilst staring, then he took it and Jaebum hugged him tightly. “As long as you're happy, I'm alright. Even if I'm not here anymore, I will still be by your side, no matter what… okay?” Youngjae nodded. “Good.” Jaebum released him a bit only to kiss him. Youngjae widened his eyes, then kissed him back, still crying.

A few seconds later, his hyung broke the kiss and stared into his eyes. “Youngjae… I love you… Never forget that…” He put his head on Youngjae's chest, and smiled, eyes closed. Youngjae looked at Jaebum. He cried even more.

“I love you too…” He managed to whisper as he his hair.

“Youngjae?” Youngjae turned his head to look at Kyujun, who called him. “Are you okay?”

Youngjae chuckled. “Thanks, but don't worry about me. I'm alright.”

“Don't you miss him?” Kyujun asked as he raised an eyebrow. Youngjae bit his lip and looked down. He nodded. He was regretting that he didn't take the opportunity to tell his hyung how much he loved him earlier. Now it was way too late.

He smiled softly, with a sad face. “I miss him so much…”
