— Inspiration: Honestly, I was never a fan of BAP's music until I came across 1004 (Angel). It really caught my attention because the song sounded like they grew more maturely into the music industry. I'm going to research a bit more on them just so I get a feel for what I want as their characters. I've also been fascinated with Asian (mostly Japanese) mythology. This is the first time I've stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to write a "somewhat" supernatural story. It's going to be a bit confusing since I'm combining what I know from Japanese mythology with Aesop's "The Fox and the Crow" fable. I hope it's all to your liking!

Foreword

The tale goes:

A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree.

"That's for me, as I am Master Fox," said the Fox, and he walked up to the foot of the tree.

"Good day, Mister Crow," he cried. "How well you are looking today: how glossy your feathers; how bright your eye. I feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure does; let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the King of Birds."

The Crow lifted up his head and began to caw his best, but the moment he opened his mouth the piece of cheese fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by the Fox.

"That will do," said he. "That was all I wanted. In exchange for your cheese I will give you a piece of advice for the future: "Do not trust flatterers."

—————

Thousands and thousands of years later, fairytales and the supernatural have turned themselves into nothing but fables and old tales to teach little children important morals and values. Things have changed since the beginning of time. But there was one thing that was still constant even after several millenniums - the foxes and the crows are sworn enemies. Ever since the first fox and the first crow came to be, the moment they met, their encounter dispersed into an all-out, never-ending war. Not a year goes by when there's a battle between the two. After the thousandth year, one clan claims God's fruit - now transfigured as a human. Whoever devours God's fruit claims great knowledge and unknown powers bestowed onto them.

This year should be no different.

Bang Yongguk, the son of Crows shall step forward soon as the head of his clan. Tall, with dark, penetrating eyes and black hair, he carries himself with pride and impressive, humble beauty. Aside from his retainers (Himchan and Zelo), he keeps to himself; even within the clan, he never shares his thoughts or ideas - it was clear he was a special one. He trusts no one and is very perceptive despite his young age. He desires nothing but power - but is there more that he wants and doesn't realize? With the future of his clan in his hands, he is prepared to end this on-going war and finally bring peace. And he will do so, with or without God's fruit in his hands.

Jung Daehyun, the son of Foxes will also soon be known as the head of his clan. Despite how his ancestors were like, he is much quieter than his own beings. He stands out with his soft, golden hair and innocent-like eyes. His intuitive nature is what got him to where he is now. His retainers (Yongjae and Jongup) are none other than his childhood friends who have stuck by his side for as long as he could remember. He was weak since birth, but has grown stronger day by day - to prove his worth. He's lost many in the war between foxes and crows. With powers he's gathered on his own, he plans to end it with the help of God's fruit.

Once one of them devours God's fruit, the all-out battle between two great clans continue - however, there was one thing the prophecies never forshadowed. It was an impossible thought, nothing comes first except for honor - tradition - integrity. That is how the spirit world rules. But much like tradition, folklores, and myths, history fades. Spirits and monsters have become more human as years go by. Feelings start to become visible - almost tangible to the touch - especially in the aspects of love.

Soo Haeun will soon realize that the world she had always known to be ordinary is far more than that. Living solemnly a quiet life to herself, she visits a local shrine to pray for a healthy life, a life filled with adventure. She has been lonely for quite some time - often being sick - she's unable to explore or venture on her own. Yet she has no one to care for her, it was a hard life living.

Until one day, she gets on her knees to pray to the heavens and falls into a world of spirits and mythical creatures.
