Description
(hospital!au) None of these twelve guys expected to be working for one of the top medical centers in South Korea, but somehow, they are.
Jongdae (the new guy), Luhan, and Yifan are night-shift nurses while Chanyeol, Yixing, and Sehun cover the day-shift, Baekhyun is the daytime receptionist while Zitao is the nighttime one. Junmyeon is the confused IT specialist. Minseok and Jongin are EMTs (who like visiting the ER way too much to just be transporting people who have "severe" colds), and Kyungsoo doesn't know how he got into this whole mess.
Featuring Jungsu, Chilhyun, Yunho, Qian, and others as doctors who have no idea how their ER managed to survive throughout the years with these idiots running the place.

SMC = Samsung Medical Center, located in Irwon-Dong of Gangnam-Gu, Seoul, South Korea
EMT/EMS = emergency technical technicians/emergency medical services; these are the guys you always see in shows that work in ambulances and always rush people to the ER
IT = information technologist; these are the people we always call to help fix our computers, etc.
MC/minor care/urgent care = usually the area of the emergency department where patients with non-lifethreatening conditions go to be checked out (usually those with colds, sprains, etc.)
epinephrine = used to treat allergic reactions, help bring back people to life (resuscitate) after sudden death (cardiac arrest)
triage = the process of assessing vitals, conditions, and initial complaints of patients in the waiting room and then assigning levels of urgency to those patients
triage nurse = the assigned nurse for the day to do the job explained above
consult = when patients come into the ER and need to be (emergently) admitted to ICU or a different floor, the ER doctor will make a small icon of a green phone appear next to the patient's name on the computerized screen that has the layout of the ER and the patients' last names in their designated rooms. the green phone will turn yellow once the receptionist has called that specific doctor (usually their primary care physician or even a specialist, ie. cardiologist or heart doctor) and when they call back, that is when both doctors will converse and talk about the patient's condition and get a second opinion whether the patient should be admitted or discharged home to follow up with their primary care doctor the next day
intubation = where a plastic tube (usually called an et tube) gets inserted inside a patient's mouth towards the lungs to help them breathe. an ambu bag connects to the outer end (or a machine) so it can be used to pump air into the person's lungs if their condition is severe or the patient is incredibly combative and agitated and is needed for patient stabilization. several medications are also used to help relax the body and everything.

okay so. i'm back to working in the ER and i keep envisioning exo as nurses while i just sit there and do my thing, and somehow this came into fruition with a little encouragement and help from littlebrat ;u;
i'll be using Samsung Medical Center as the basis where these twelve dummies work, and these ficlets will be centered in the ER since that's the department i know best. people i know and have seen work in the ER will be portrayed by some of these exo men in here, so yes. most of these ficlets have happened in real life. (i'll also be using the format of the ER where i work at because ;; the first chapter should have descriptions of where rooms are and everything, i can include a map if you guys want later?)
hopefully, this can also serve as an educational type of fic with all the comedy and fluff that's going to be in it ;u;
