` a grotesque masquerade ball

Description

` YOU ARE INVITED TO THE ROYALS' MASQUERADE BALL.

Once upon a time, princes found their true loves in a secret ball. Royalty would hide their apperance through fanciful masks laced with fairy dust and mirth. No one would ever know the identity of their love until the ball ended. They would quietly giggle at the listless suitors asking for their hand in marriage. Except behind those chalked smiles hid another purpose, a game. Siblings would become the ringleader for hours, hiding their own kin behind riddles and acidic insults. Suitors became heroes and princes and princesses became villains, waiting for prey. It happened until one of the victims proved themselves worthy of a royal's hand in marriage.

In the twisted castle, only the most courageous will unveil their glittering masquerade mask, and the others will be strangled by their own mask. A masquerade ball has never felt so hideous before. Welcome to the Masquerade, don't leave the beautiful gowns and the glamorous heels behind.

Foreword

Author's Note: FINALLY! I'm super excited for this story. Completely excited, it has three things I love, ulzzangs, fairy tales and masquerade balls. Gosh, gosh, gosh. I'm also very pleased to say that this is also a contest entry for Shoes of a Unicorn Writing Contest. I'm always super pumped when a contest has really good prompts and this contest has such good ones. I'll be using the bonus prompt: "Air is the element of freedom" - Uncle Iroh, Avatar the Last Airbender. And because Uncle Iroh is actually the real MVP. Let's be honest, the whole ZukoxUncle Iroh thing is actually the OTP.

But this story is still in the works. I'm surprised that this was something I actually stuck with. It's not like most of my stories where I sit down and I'm like okay, I'm going to write a chapter fic at this rate and it's going to be amazing and I'm going to stick with it. It's been a long process though. The characters I get to write with are pretty interesting to me. The titles in the description will make sense when you get to certain parts of the story. And I think I made Jiho super boring. I'm sorry, he's kind of the damsel in distress for a reason. His personality isn't shown throughout the story, but there are major characters and then there's Jiho. I don't know. He's pretty boss as a damsel in distress.

Also, I decided to put Jae Hyun and Hanyoung as characters because they're mentioned a lot, but they aren't major characters. They pretty much fuel the two protagonists and though they should be in the cover. I didn't think it would matter that much. Which is why their pictures are grayscaled.

Also, there are going to be so many fairy tale references that it's just ridiculous. The time setting is a bit weird. I must admit. It's in the times of castles and European fairy tales, but the clothing and language is more modern than I thought it would because I like modern fairytales. Get it? Get it?

Warning: May have triggers. Just letting you know because there's  a bunch of sad stuff.

Please enjoy the story, I hope it's befitting to your tastes.
