"What?" Her eyes clouded as she tried to hold her despair in.

"I just don-don't see us working anymore." He whispered hesitantly as he gently her hair and stared into her deep glittering eyes.

"Why?! I demand an answer!" She screamed, but coughed halfway as one too many tears had made its way into .

"Stop"  Was the only word he managed to pass through his gritted teeth.

"No" She took a step forward.

"That's enough!" His temper had gotten the better of him as he slapped away her hands.

With dead eyes and knees she sunk into the mud. The plummeting rain muffled her sobs as she watched him disappear through the night.
