Distance (Is Measured By The Memories We Hold)

Description

Nobody is perfect, and sadly, Kim Jongdae is not an exception.

Foreword

To Jung Cho, Kim Jongdae was just the boy in her class and neighborhood back in Katy, Texas who was an amateur pro-golfer and never really around during golf season. Occasionally they had swapped answers and had classes together, but otherwise, they were nothing more than just acquaintances.

After dropping her pre-med track and switching from her biomedical engineering major due to a traumatic accident, Cho finds herself as a songwriter employed by SM Entertainment in Seoul, South Korea. And it just so happens that she starts to see Jongdae a little more often than not.

And then suddenly all at once.

She pseudo-confidently steps into Lee Sooman's office just weeks after her interview. Inside, her heart is palpitating and pounding heavily; so heavily that she thinks she could collapse from hyperventilating. Her interviewer seemed to like her to a certain extent and wrote a lot on his clipboard during said time slot.

"Well, you're an interesting one," Sooman addresses a little too informally for a first time meeting and Cho bows her head in respect. "Dropped biomedical engineering for music. How did you still graduate in a timely fashion?"

"I minored in music at the time and the university was very flexible in changing my majors. Therefore, I had some requisites done already."

"Where did you go to college?"

"Washinton University in St. Louis in the United States, sir."

"I see, I see. A very respectable college. Well, I'd like to formally congratulate you. You have been hired as a songwriter for our company. I trust that you can keep up with our demand, as we're a very busy company."

"Yes, sir. I will certainly try my best," Cho bows again, joy evident on her face when she looks back up. She can see a twinkle in the man's eyes and softly smiles.

Sooman stands and she follows as he sticks his hand out for a handshake. Cho accepts the handshake and bows yet again. "Welcome to our family. This place will soon become your second home."

"I look forward to working with you and the company. Thank you for hiring me."

His secretary escorts her down to the ground floor where she bows again in gratitude. As she walks towards the main doors of the building, another figure passes by her and she glances at him instinctively. The jawline is familiar and she racks her head as to why it is.

Jongdae...?

I wonder how he's doing...

The plot is mine, but the characters are not. I'm using actual places (yes Katy, Texas, U.S.A. exists, is real, whatever you want to call it)

Action will be taken if plagiarized. You are warned.
