Sticky Keys

Description

It's been two years since Kyungsoo found Jongin in an online chatroom. It was a rough day and Kyungsoo needed someone to talk to immediately, Jongin was that person. What started off as some awkward consoling with a few too many emoticons on Jongin's part turned into something more. The conversations started getting longer and more frequent and Kyungsoo found Jongin to be his escape from reality. Though they were two entirely different people living in opposite sides of the country, Kyungsoo still fell for Jongin. It's been a year and a half since Jongin became Kyungsoo's boyfriend and things have been stickier ever since. Being with Jongin was wrong on so many levels. Whenever Jongin speaks about meeting up one of these days Kyungsoo gets sick to his stomach, because he has a secret.

Trigger Warning(s): Abuse, Depression, and Alcoholism

Foreword

It all starts with an outing...

After the fifth invite Kyungsoo finally let his co-worker drag him to a club downtown because he needed to 'loosen up', whatever that meant. Kyungsoo never liked loud places such as the place he was at. He couldn't even make out the name of the hell hole he was to spend his time at because the neon lights were so bright. He preferred lounges; they were filled with more civilized people than the animalistic beasts that frolicked around intoxicated in the club. It was going to be a long night Kyungsoo deemed once his co worker ditched him to go talk to some tipsy brunette with too much makeup. Almost like an obstacle course Kyungsoo dodges oncoming bodies, ducks whenever a vacant bottle is chucked into the air for the floor to catch, and he avoids any danger that's ahead of him. Which is everywhere. Kyungsoo only feels safe when he reaches the bar in the back. The ill sounding music rings through his ear and he can barely hear what the mixologists is asking him. Taking a chance Kyungsoo shouts beer and to his luck the mixologist went away. He takes his seat in a sturdy wooden bar chair and chooses to stare at the aged wooden oak counter instead of the drunk thrashing bodies.

Add someone new...

Kyungsoo hasn't been in the club for half an hour and he already wants to bail. The alcohol is cheap, it smells too sweaty, and he's sure his ears are bleeding because of the horrendous music. It's when some guy sits next to him at the bar when things change. Kyungsoo is plotting escape plans and a lot of petty excuses for his co-worker when he feels a finger tap his shoulder. Kyungsoo turns and see's somoeone new. The man's face looked like it was carved by people of higher power. His eyes were a honey brown, lips a little on the small side but not lacking none the less, teeth so bright it was almost blinding under the led lights, and black hair so soft Kyungsoo wanted to lay in it. Kyungsoo thought the tap was a pure accident, believing that the gorgeous man didn't want anything to do with him. Until the man spoke.

"Hello my name is Dongjin," He introduced. Kyungsoo could barely hear the introduction yet he nods his head. The man holds out his hand for Kyungsoo to shake, which Kyungsoo is hesitant about, until he realizes that it's just a formal hand shake.

"Kyungsoo," Kyungsoo replies.

Mix in a tablespoon of romance...

It all happened so fast. One moment Kyungsoo and Dongjin are at the bar talking aimlessly about nothing important, small talk mostly while sipping on second-rate alcohol. The next moment they've just finished their sixth date and Dongjin has his lips against Kyungsoo's. There was something about Dongjin that Kyungsoo found interesting. Maybe it was the way that he always managed to smell like expensive cologne no matter the outing, or the way he always knew exactly what to say, or maybe it was the way he never explained too much about himself. Or maybe that was just mysterious? There was always this vibe around Dongjin that Kyungsoo got whenever they were together. It was a stomach flipping feeling that Kyungsoo thought was love at the time. But it was entirely different feeling that Kyungsoo was too naive to pay close attention to.  His gut was telling him to go away.

Add 1 living change...

It's seven months into their relationship and Kyungsoo thinks everything is going fine. He and Dongjin are still going strong and then Dongjin gives him an offer; He asked Kyungsoo to move in with him. Like before, it all seemed so fast. Kyungsoo never balanced out the pros and the cons. He was too blind to think of every possible outcome that could have come out of moving in with someone he's only known for less than a year.

So he said yes.

A couple of weeks later Kyungsoo moves from his small one bedroom apartment and moves into his boyfriends fairly spaced apartment. It was a lot to take in at first because everything was new to Kyungsoo. The things that he grew accustomed to in his own apartment were no longer there, it was all foreign. Even if Kyungsoo knew a lot about his boyfriend he knew nothing about pet peeves, or rules of the house, so he was nervous. It took a couple of days for Kyungsoo to get used to everything. Whenever he was unsure his boyfriend would kiss him lightly and tell him it would all be alright.

Pour in two bottles of alcohol...

The more time Kyungsoo stayed in Dongjin's apartment, the more he found out about who Dongjin really was and he was not comfortable with it at all. Dongjin drank a lot. Ranging from cheap whiskies to vodkas with high ABV percentages, he downed them all.  Every night after a long day at work he'd go straight to the alcohol without giving Kyungsoo the time of day. Kyungsoo learned that Dongjin got annoyed very easily. Whenever he asked a question about where something was Dongjin was quick to crack and shout. First, Kyungsoo thought it was because of exhaustion at work but Dongjin started shouting more and more until one day...

Kyungsoo got hit.

It was the most shocking thing that ever happened to Kyungsoo. Even more shocking than the time some kid pushed him off the swings and caused him to break his arm. Dongjin's hand landed heavily on his cheek after he finally had enough of the screaming and shouted back. Kyungsoo was dumbfounded as he pulled his hand up to his cheek, it stung badly. Immediately Dongjin started apologizing over and over again but Kyungsoo wasn't listening. He was focused on leaving. With haste Kyungsoo walked to the bedroom and started packing his bag attempting to get out as fast as possible until he was pushed against the wall.

Dongjin threatened Kyungsoo. He told Kyungsoo sharply that if he ever thought about leaving he'd find Kyungsoo and make sure he never saw daylight again. Just by the way his eyes deepened with rage and how low his voice was, Kyungsoo knew he was serious. Dongjin leaned in and attacked Kyungsoo's neck with his lips and Kyungsoo couldn't do anything but let the tears fall down his cheeks.

Being hit was not a one time thing. It got more and more frequent at the weeks past by and Kyungsoo couldn't take it. It started off as heavy slaps but it turned into punches and kicks, once Dongjin even bit him. No matter how many times Kyungsoo tried to leave, he wasn't able to escape he was trapped. There was no one to tell either. Dongjin cut Kyungsoo off from everyone he was close to. Kyungsoo was to wake up, hide the bruises, go to work, and come home. He could only go out with Dongjin. If not then Kyungsoo would face the consequences.

Everything was so wrong. Kyungsoo never saw it coming; the abuse. He couldn't take it at all. Every night he'd find himself crying to sleep, feeling all alone as his boyfriend was in the other room drinking away his sanity. Kyungsoo wasn't ready to leave just yet. He felt like something good was in store for him in the future if he held on tighter and long enough.

That faithful night came when Dongjin stormed out of the house after multiple hits to Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo was crying his eyes out and he wanted to talk to someone. He needed to talk to someone. Though it hurt, Kyungsoo limped his injured body over to his laptop and went to a chatroom he overheard his co worker talking about a few weeks ago. Authentication was a struggle since tears clouded Kyungsoo's eyes and he was barely able to hault the wheezing. With a final click, Kyungsoo was verified and in a chatroom. It took a few times for him to talk to someone decent after a couple of ertive men asked for too much of him. Kyungsoo wanted someone to talk to and he found someone. Though the username was dancingking94, Jongin became someone very important in Kyungsoo's life.

This is a kaisoo three shot based of this prompt made on tumblr. I'm not sure if it's been made yet but this prompt has been on my mind for awhile.
