Chapter 99

“Step a little bit closer.” His steady hands guided her through the grassy road.

 

Her boyfriend had her blindfolded since they stepped out of the car. “Is it far ahead?”

 

“We’re almost there! Jamkkanman. Stand still…” He let go of her hands bit by bit and suddenly kissed her cheeks. Kekeke! this is fun.

 

“Yah! How dare you take advantage!” Taeyeon freaked out. “You’re so unfair! I hate you, Dookong-appa! I hate YOU!” She reached for him but she failed. Blame this blindfold for blocking my sight!

 

Wooyoung giggled, his girlfriend looked so cute while wiggling her short arms. “You can’t catch me!” He kissed her again on the other cheek and ran behind her.

 

“Aish! You pervert! Wait ‘till I get you!” The kid leader stumbled upon a rock. “AAHH!”

 

“OMO!” He had her in his arms just in time. “Gwaenchana?”  He removed her blindfold while his heart pounded hard with worry and rested her under a tree.

 

Taeyeon was panting out of nervousness. It was a close shave; her face will surely hit the rock if not for him. She just looked at his eyes. “GOTCHA!” She pushed him flat on the ground and jumped over him like a wrestler. It’s payback time!

 

“Ugh!” Wooyoung coughed out. He was caught off guard and could hardly stand.

 

The kid leader laughed like an ahjumma. “You can’t run away now! REVENGE!” She pinned his head on the ground and planted kisses all over his face. “Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!”

 

The guy felt so helpless that all he could do was paddle his legs up and down. I won’t steal a kiss from her EVER AGAIN! He could barely breathe. “Dookong-umma! Hajimaaa!”Acting unconscious was the only way he could think of to make her stop.

 

Taeyeon noticed he’s not moving at all so she stopped kissing him. She gently tapped his cheeks. “Dookong-appa?” No response. She stared on her boyfriend’s face and noticed him half-smiling. “Yah!” She slapped him hard.

 

“Ouch!” Wooyoung immediately touched his cheek. “What’s that for?”

 

“For making me worry by acting unconscious!” She stood up and crossed her arms with a pout on her face. “What are you looking at? GET UP!”

 

“I only did that so you’d stop!” He explained. “Or you really enjoyed kissing me that much?” The guy sported a naughty grin.

 

“You started it! I just took my revenge! PERVERT!” She fanned her face.

 

Keke… so cute! Wooyoung raised his eyebrow. “Me? A pervert? You even pinned me and planted a lot of kisses all over my face. YOU are the pervert.” He stuck out his tongue. “ByunTaeng!”

 

 

Taeyeon rolled her eyes. “No I’m not!” Her face started to turn red. “You are the pervert!”

 

“Aniyo. YOU.”

 

“You!”

 

“You.”

 

“YOU!”

 

Then came total silence. They realized it was pointless to accuse each other, and felt even guiltier for calling such a name.

 

“Arasso, I admit it. I am the pervert.” Wooyoung pointed to himself.

 

Taeyeon shook her head, “Aniyo, I am the pervert.”

 

“I am.”

 

“I AM!”

 

“Fine. We are perverts.” Wooyoung stated.

 

The kid leader laughed. “Let’s stick together then.” She opened her arms and welcomed her boyfriend’s embrace. “Saranghae Dookong-appa.”

 

He brushed her hair out of her face and kissed her forehead. “Dookong-umma, sa-rang-hae.”

 

“Why are we here in the first place?” They went in a forest-like place near Wooyoung’s family’s ancestral home.

 

“I want to show you something.” He led her in front of a well-built tree house. “I used to play here when I was a kid.”

 

Taeyeon was glad to see it and dragged him excitedly. “This is so cool! Go go ssing!”

From the tree house, one could take a glimpse of the neighboring houses around the ancestral home. The wind was cool and a beautiful kite was flying on the sky.

 

“I love it here! “ The kid leader said.

 

The guy took some snacks out of his backpack. “Come here first. Let’s eat.” He opened a bottle of apple juice for her and fed her with a coffee bun.

 

“Your family’s coffee buns are really good!” She took a big piece and munched it like a kid.

 

Wooyoung bowed. “Gomawo. Wanna know the secret of that delicious bun?”

 

Taeyeon nodded. “Neh, if you don’t mind.” She grinned and pinched his cheek. “It must be something special, Dookong-appa.”

 

“Quite.” He winked. “It has no special ingredient at all. It all lies on WHO’S making it.”

 

The kid leader wrinkled her forehead. “What do you mean?”

 

“The family follows ONE strict rule: The person who makes the buns must be in love.” He confessed. “Pretty weird, huh?”

 

She just laughed. “Neh, life is a bit quirky at times.”

 

“AHA! Speaking of ‘life’… Let’s make a Life List!”  Wooyoung suggested. He took sheets of paper and pens for each of them. “Write down the things you’d like to do before you die.”

 

They both found a comfy place to think. Wooyoung stayed near the window while Taeyeon laid flat on the floor.

 

“Are you done?” He asked her. “Let’s show each other what we wrote.”

 

They sat on a thick branch of the tree.

 

“Who’ll go first?” The kid leader carefully prepared her list.

 

“The lady of course!” Wooyoung replied. “Don’t worry Dookong-umma, I’ll pay attention.”

 

She let out a sigh and blinked her eyes before reading. “Here it goes! Kim Taeyeon’s life list…”

 

 

 

~Play with dolls (Because I played with tops and guns back then, kekeke)

~Learn how to use my left hand properly even for once^^

~Go to Mexico and see beautiful cactuses!

~Live a simple, uncomplicated life away from the spotlight. (Heol... How I wish~)

 

 

“That’s all I could think of as of now.” She shyly spoke. “Mianhae, Dookong-appa.”

 

He tapped his girlfriend’s shoulder. “That’s fine. Not bad for a start.” He took his own list and showed it to her.

 

“This… is Jang Wooyoung’s life list.”

Taeyeon took the paper and turned it upside down. “Are you kidding?”

 

“Aniyo.” Wooyoung took a ring from his pocket. “Will you marry me?”

 

        

 

The kid leader was overwhelmed of his sudden proposal. The ring sparkled on her sight as her heart pounded hard. He was not joking after all. I’m not dreaming! This is REAL!

 

“Kim Taeyeon, will you bake coffee buns with me forever?”

 

“Yes!” She sweetly posed her million-dollar smile. “I’d love to do that, Jang Wooyoung.” She willingly accepted the ring on her finger. “Saranghae.” The kid leader can’t stop laughing when she saw her boyfriend’s precious reaction.

 

OH MY GOODNESS, SHE JUST SAID YES! OH BOY! OH BOY! YOU’RE THE MAN!  The guy proudly thought. He was ecstatic that moment that he waved his hands up in the air. “YES! It’s a YES! Dookong-umma, Saranghaeeee! Aaah!”

 

THUD!

 

Wooyoung fell from the tree. He landed with his face flat on the grassy road.

 

“OMO! Dookong-appa!” Taeyeon screamed. “Gwaenchana?”

 

The guy quickly got up and widely smiled. “I’m alright! I’m totally alright!” He flexed his muscles like Johnny Bravo. “Hee! Ha! Hee!”  He acted like it doesn’t hurt at all. Holy Heavens! I feel so dizzy and my back hurts an AWFUL lot!

 

She cracked up at his funny feat, but little by little her smile faded. OMONAAAAA!

 

“What’s with that pale face?” Wooyoung stroke his final pose like a body builder. “Oh gosh, I’m sweating now.”

 

“DOOKONG-APPA! THAT’S NOT SWEAT! IT’S BLOOD FROM YOUR EYEBROW! IT’S BEEN CUT!”
