Chapter 38

Little by little, leaves started to fall from huge trees. Plants changed its color from green to red and yellow. Nature prepared itself for taking a rest. SNSD’s recordings were done and the final audio was the only thing needed to kickoff the practice. Sooyoung, Seohyun, and Taeyeon woke up earlier than the rest.

“My big brother’s getting married three days from now.” Taeyeon sighed.

“I’m excited for our comeback!” Seohyun jumped on her bed.

Hyoyeon sat up on her bed and told the maknae to stop. “I’m still sleepy. Please stop, you’re making too much noise. I promise we’d jump on our beds together later.”

“Breakfast is ready!” Sooyoung carried a pan around the house and kept on hitting it with a spatula.

“Dang! Sooyoung! Are you a monk or something?” Tiffany narrowed her eyes as she made her way to the bathroom.

Sunny greeted everyone with a smile. “That won’t work on Jessica. Cut my head off if I’m wrong.”

The girls heard a loud scream on one of the rooms. “Aaaaaah!” it was no one else but Yuri. She came running out of her room.

“Yuri-unnie bit her tongue when Sooyoung-unnie banged the pan near her ear!” Yoona shouted.

They were almost done eating when Jessica woke up. “How’s everyone?” she sat among them and smelled everything before putting food on her plate.

Seohyun giggled. “Sica-unnie has never changed. Don’t worry, everything’s cucumber-free.” Maknae tells no lies.

Since YoonYul tricked her the ice princess makes sure to smell food before putting t on her plate. They gave her breakfast in bed one ordinary day only to find out that her omelette with powderlike bits of cucumber. Jessica’s eyes went so puffy that she swore to smell her food first if the girls prepared it.

“I’m totally telling chaebol boy you woke up late.” Tiffany looked at her while chewing some bacon. “I’m just joking, girl!” she gave Jessica a warm smile.

“I’ll get going now.” Taeyeon stood up.”Wedding rehearsals for my dear brother’s gonna start today. Wish me luck for the long trip.” She was all set to leave.

Sunny also went up and slipped money to Taeyeon’s pocket and whispered on her ear. “Buy me chestnuts.” She mimicked Taeyeon’s warnings before a member leaves the house. “Yah! Don’t come back late or you’ll sleep on the doormat! You should be here on time as promised! Remember you are So Nyuh Shi Dae! Think of our image!”

Taeyeon was shocked to hear the small girl nagging so fast. The rest laughed on Sunny’s feat.

“Now you know what it feels like! Good job, Sunny!” Hyoyeon clapped and raised the small girl’s hand.

Taeyeon arrived on their house on a good mood. She was excited to see her siblings. She headed straight to the living room and saw her mother talking with Wooyoung.

“Ah, my beautiful daughter is here! Wooyoung arrived early and guess what? He gave me cosmetics!” Mrs. Kim was very happy.

The guy greeted Taeyeon and gave her a small bag. “This one’s for you. I hope you like it.”

The kid leader’s mood was so good that day so she accepted his gift right away. “Gomawo”, she looked inside and was delighted to see a pack full of cactus-shaped jelly candies.

“Your father and siblings hasn’t returned yet. They went out to check the last preparations and give out the remaining invites. Jiwoong went to a jeweller to buy a wedding ring.” Her mother was left all alone because she was expected to come home that day.

“I hope they come back soon, I miss them so much.” Taeyeon looked above the fireplace where their family portrait hung.

Wooyoung found it interesting. “Your family’s quite big and you look so happy together. Everyone’s good looking too!”

Mrs. Kim smiled and breathed out. “That portrait is going to be removed soon. We’ll have a new one taken when my son gets married. Jiwoong's bride will be the newest addition to our family portrait.”

Taeyeon thought it was a dream. She recalled happy moments with her brother; playing guns and tops while chasing each other around their house. She he heard someone sniffing behind her and saw Wooyoung tapping her crying mother’s back.

“Your brother is going to settle down. It won’t be long until we send you walking down the aisle.” Mrs. Kim cried out loud.

“Umma, don’t talk about those things. I’m not thinking of getting married yet, not now.” The kid leader rushed to the old lady and hugged her.

Wooyoung pouted. “How about me?”

Taeyeon showed him her clenched fist and glared. He bit his lip before he could get into any trouble.

Mrs. Kim wiped her tears and held her daughter’s hands. “You’re not getting any younger. It’s about time for you to have a boyfriend. Who knows? Just try to look around.”

It was like music to Wooyoung’s ears. He giggled as he silently clapped.

“We’re here!” Taeyeon’s little sister came running. “Unnie, I miss you so much!”

The kid leader bended down and opened her arms. “I miss you too Hayeon-ah!”

“Wah! Unnie! You came with 2PM Wooyoung. Cool!” Hayeon bowed her head. “Annyeonghaseyo, Kim Hayeon imnida!”

The guy cutely waved his hand to greet the little girl and bowed before Mr. Kim.

“Mannaso bangapsumnida. Thank you in advance for being the wedding singer of my son.” The old man looks kind but Wooyoung could tell he’s strict and a man of few words.

“I’m a wedding singer, too!” Taeyeon whined. “Why is everybody into Wooyoung?” She pouted her lips and sighed as if she’s gonna cry.

Mr. Kim grinned. He missed his daughter’s antics as well. Even if Taeyeon wasn’t an idol back then, he has always been her biggest fan. “Ah, my dear daughter, come here and I’ll hug you tight. We’re happy to see you too, and no one could ever replace you. You are Kim Taeyeon!”

Wooyoung saw the deep bond between the father and daughter. She’s sweet to her dad and no doubt she’s his favorite. He saw a small frame over the table and looked at it closely. It was a picture of Mr. Kim with little Taeyeon on his lap. It’s a stolen shot while they were playing a little boat.

They went to a nearby church to rehearse. Jiwoong came with his fiancée. Wooyoung and Taeyeon will sing in tune with the violins and a piano.

Wooyoung grinned as he looked on the instruments, “I’m nervous, but I think I’d enjoy singing on a wedding.” He talked to Taeyeon while browsing on the musical sheets.

She paused and looked at him. “Don’t put me to shame Jang Wooyoung.” Her face was serious. The kid leader was very meticulous on her craft; she wants everything to be ready and well taken care of.

Jiwoong went near them. He was so happy to see them. “Neomu kamsahaeyo. Taeyeon and Wooyoung fighting!” he raised his fist and winked.

“Ugh! Oppa! Hajima!” Taeyeon covered her two eyes. Wooyoung found it cute; the two siblings share the charms. Aegyo runs in their family.

They started to practice when the setup was completed. They sang Like A Star, Nagging, and You Bring me Joy as a duet. Taeyeon sang another solo.

Everybody was mesmerized on their voices. The piano and the violins added much on the songs’ beauty. The rehearsal went well. The bride-to-be gave out sandwiches and canned juice to everyone. Taeyeon and Wooyoung sat on a quiet corner. They took a break while talking to each other.

The kid leader looked at the lady with smiling eyes. “My future sister-in-law is nice. Isn’t she?”

“But I’m nicer, Taeyeon.”

“Whatever Wooyoung, Just eat your sandwich.” She was happily munching her food when he suddenly held her chin and wiped the mess around her lips.

“Don’t mess up with your mustard next time. Always think of your image.” He whispered as he fixed his hanky.

She felt shy and started to eat quietly. Her mind was wowed by the fact that Wooyoung really cares so much for her that he even talked about her image. Taeyeon felt guilty for treating him bad.

“Why did you suddenly become quiet?” the guy snapped her out of deep thoughts.

The kid leader shook her head and looked at Wooyoung. “Ah...Nothing. Are you still hungry? I’ll get more sandwiches for you.”
