Chapter 106

People turned their heads when they passed by, and a lucky few shared an elevator ride with this hot couple. Shim Changmin and Choi Sooyoung stood high above the crowd. Some wondered why this couple had no one against them, but it’s simply because they have been very vocal about their relationship.

“We have fifteen minutes before the movie starts.” Changmin looked at his watch. “How does monster nachos, corndog, and large cola sound?”

“Magnificent.” Sooyoung clasped her hands. “Oppa, don’t forget beef and cheese add-ons!”

The guy raised his thumb and gave his girlfriend a wink.

“I didn’t know you’re a fan of fantasy movies.” The movie hasn’t even begun but the tall girl started to take bites of her corndog.

“Well… not quite. I like suspense movies more. I just heard this one’s really nice.”

“From whom? Ah, let me guess… from the older cheesy Kwons?” She was referring to Yunho and BoA. “Geez, they are fantasy freaks.”

Keke, eating a corndog left my pretty shikshin a ketchup mustache… cute. Changmin lightly pushed up her chin, looked at her in the eyes, and smacked her lips.

Sooyoung was caught off guard… again. He always does that whenever he notices spilling food around her lips; may it be ice cream, coffee froth, or even a piece of rice. Strange but true. “How many times am I going to tell you? Not-in-pub-lic.”

“Wae? Everybody knows you’re my girl. Plus it’s dark in here so no one saw it.” He slipped his hand on her back. “Ooh, it’s somewhat cold in here. Can you please cuddle me?” His puppy eyes gleamed in the dark. “Puh-leaaaase?”

Kyaaaaaaaaaaaa! So adorable! His aegyo drives me crazy!She bit her lip to keep herself from squealing. “Arasso, come closer.” She slightly tilted facing him and leaned his head on her shoulder. “Feeling better now?”

The guy was very pleased. “Neh. So much better.” He constantly rubbed his hand on her arm. Her candylike scent, my nose loves it so much…

The whole cinema was in total silence when the movie started. Who would even want to miss a single scene from the final instalment of The Twilight Saga? They couple was not able to watch in on its premiere night because Changmin have schedules and he insisted they must watch it together.

Even though engrossed on watching the movie, they were able to keep each other good company with a help of a little skinship, glancing at each other from time to time while eating snacks. The movie ended after a couple of hours, and everybody applauded for a well-made masterpiece. However, the crowd were a bit confused when they heard a Korean song in place of its official soundtrack; and even more surprised when pictures of Changmin and Sooyoung showed up on the big screen. From the first picture they took together as co-trainees up to present time in tune of Evergreen, Changmin’s own masterpiece.

Sooyoung’s mouth gaped in awe, and it took her quite a while to absorb what’s been happening. She covered her lips with her hands as tears of joy raced out her eyes while watching the video.

The audience stayed on their seats and seemed to enjoy the feat; some looked around to search for the couple.

 

Just as planned… Changmin remained quiet at his seat and let his girlfriend savour every moment, rubbing her back gently every now and then. When his self-made video was about to end he proudly led her in front of everyone, holding her hand as they made their way down. A spotlight followed their every move.

Everyone felt like they were a part of another movie in the making. In a way, the couple has touched their hearts.

Standing before a big crowd, the tall girl was still emotional while she warmly smiled to everyone.

The guy went down on his knees and offered her a precious ring. “Choi Sooyoung, will you be my wife?”

The mob was silent as they anticipate for her answer.

Sooyoung’s voice cracked in between tears. “Neh.”

Loud cheers were heard among the audience. Some were deeply moved, some did a fanchant, and some took fancams.

He was extremely happy and that made him burst out in tears as well. After sharing a sweet kiss for everyone to see, he took a small booklet off his coat. “This is my diary. I’ll give this to you so you’d understand me better. I wanted you to know what I was like before, and what thoughts I have in mind before marrying you.”
 

She looked at it and put it close to her chest. “Thanks for making me feel so loved. Shim Changmin, saranghae.”

It became a very sensational moviehouse experience.

Sunny’s eyes grew big like watermelons. “MAP-SO-SA! Girlssssssssssss!”

Taeyeon, Tiffany, Yoona, and Hyoyeon rushed to her bed to check what’s going on. They saw the short girl staring on her tablet.

“Changmin-oppa proposed to our Sooyoung.”

“JINJJA?”

She showed them a fancam taken at the moviehouse.

“Daebak.” Yoona can only sigh. “It’s every girl’s dream.”

Tiffany can’t resist her clapping habit. “Omigosh! Omigosh!”

“Whatta proposal. Changmin-oppa is amajjing!” Taeyeon smiled.

“Auntie Choi would love this! Dream come true.” Hyoyeon added.

Their girl talk was interrupted by a sudden phone call.

“Oppa.” Sunny wasn’t in a mood for telephone conversations.

“My father wants to talk to us. Get dressed, I’m on my way.”

Minister Lee fell ill after the media incident. He felt distraught over the turnout of events for his family. He collapsed in the middle of a formal session once. Since then, he started to consider an early retirement to save face.

It was Sunny’s first time to set foot on Sungmin’s house. They were greeted by his mother; a graceful woman looked really intelligent.

“Having a beautiful girl beside you doesn’t mean you don’t have to greet your mother anymore.”

“Eomeoni, “ Sungmin kissed his mother’s cheek and wrapped his arms around her. “I’m still your boy and no one can change that.” He then sported a cute pout, making his mother pinch his cheek.

Aigoo, I’ve never seen him like that. Sunny thinks he became too attached to his mother. It felt so awkward that she wanted to cover her eyes.

The guy noticed the stiff atmosphere so he thought of introducing her. “Eomeoni, she is Sunny. Um… my girlfriend.”

“Annyeonghaseyo.” The short girl thought blankly and ended up waving her hand instead of bowing her head.

Sungmin’s mother laughed. “You look so cute, my dear. I like you.”

Sunny felt flattered on the compliment. “Kamsahamnida.”

“Eomeoni, where’s abeoji?” He took the short girl’s hand.

“He’s waiting for you in his study. Please be gentle with him.”

The old man has been staring on a sheet of paper the whole day. It was a well-written letter expressing his intentions of retirement.

“Abeoji.”

He turned his head when he heard a familiar voice. “I’ve been waiting for you two. Have a seat.”

The couple saw a different Minister Lee than the usual; he looked weary and they noticed his sudden loss of weight.

“Are you guys happy with each other?”

Sunny and Sungmin simply looked at each other.

Minister Lee removed his glasses. “Answer me. Are you guys happy with each other?”

“Neh, abeoji.”

They both bowed their heads down. “Chesonghamnida.”

“Then go get married.” The old man spoke softly, without any traces of hate and resentment.

“But…”

“Just do it. Get married.” It sounded more of a command than a mere suggestion. “That way I could have peace in myself.”

“Kamsahamnida, abeoji. Kamsahamnida.”
