One February evening, there was a grand ball that was only open to the top car companies in the world. You were invited, being Jaejoong’s wife. Yoochun didn’t have a partner so of course, Ahyoung gladly offred to be his.
Jaejoong and you went up the grand marble staircase to the beautiful manor on a hill.
You accidently stumbled on your high heel. “Ow.” You pouted. “Here. Take my arm.” Jaejoong held it out.
You looked up at him. He gave you an encouraging smile and a nod.
You straightened up and warily slipped your arm through his. Jaejoong gave you another smile and your heart fluttered. The two of you entered the ball room together.
Many people greeted him. They recognized you and greeted you at once. They commented on how gorgeous you looked tonight. You politely bowed back with an amiable smile. Jaejoong looked at you and a grin grew on his face. *She does look beautiful tonight, doesn’t she?*
“Jaejoong!” A voice called. Both of you turned around to see Ahyoung and Yoochun.
Your confidence fell at once. She looked beautiful in her mini satin purple dress with diamond sequins at the top.
“Hey! You look amazing!” Ahyoung threw her arms around Jaejoong’s neck. “Thanks. You look beautiful, Ahyoung.” He smiled sincerely. Your shoulders deflated. *How come he didn’t tell me that? Do I not look beautiful tonight?*
Yoochun looked at you and his entire face lit up. “Heejoon, you look amazing.” You gave him a small, polite smile, “Thank you.”
You and Ahyoung met eyes. “I, um, like your dress.” You complimented. “Thanks.” She didn’t return the favor.
“I see Toyota’s CEO over there. I’ll be right back.” Yoochun left. Ahyoung eagerly hugged his arm and left with him.
“Let’s go talk to them over there. Come on.” Jaejoong led the way.
In the middle of the social party, the lights dimmed.
“What’s going on?” You whispered. “It isn’t a ball for anything.” Jaejoong chuckled.
One by one, couples went to the dance floor.
“Do we have to dance, too?!” You panicked. “Don’t tell me you never danced before.” He raised an eyebrow.
“I did!” *Just not with you.* Just the thought of being so close to him made your heart beat faster.
“Let’s go.” Jaejoong took your hand. Your eyes widened as he led you to the dance floor. Jaejoong faced you and you gulped. His arm slipped around your waist. *I’m going to faint!* You thought.
Jaejoong took your free hand and cradled it in his palm. “You know, other people are going to think I forced you to dance with me.” He gave you an amused smile. “You technically did.” You tried to sound tough but your voice croaked instead. You quickly cleared your throat in embarrassment. “Come on. Lighten up. Don’t you like dancing?” Jaejoong gave you a smile and a wink. Your heart did that flip-floppy thing again. *I do but you’re making me crazy. Again.* You looked away from his gaze, hoping that your heartbeat would go back to its normal pace.
Jaejoong and you unconsciously came closer and closer until your cheek actually touched his shoulder. *He has a really broad shoulder and…* You looked up at him *I never noticed how tall he was.* Jaejoong could smell the scent of jasmine and violet on your hair. The material of your dress felt smooth and silky under his fingertips. He held you ever-so-gently as if you were delicate glass. Jaejoong recognized a familiar necklace on your neck. He realized it was his Christmas present to you. A smile came on his face.
The song ended and a new one was about to begin. You and Jaejoong weren’t even thinking of separating. Both of you were okay with staying like this the entire night long.
However, Yoochun had other plans. He lightly tapped your shoulder.
You and Jaejoong broke apart. *What now?* He thought in irritance.
“You know that wish you owe me?” Yoochun smiled.
Jaejoong’s eyes snapped towards you. *Wish?! What wish?! You only owe me wishes! What are you?! A genie?! Giving wishes out to everyone?!*
“Oh yeah…for the Christmas present. Mmhmm.” You nodded.
“Well I’d like to wish for a dance with you.” Yoochun smiled.
*Say no!* Jaejoong used his mind power but it didn’t work.
“Sure.” You nodded.
Jaejoong stepped back and watched Yoochun take his place. For a brief moment, he regretted having Yoochun as his best friend. Jaejoong stepped back into the shadow with a sigh.
Ahyoung came over, “Where’s Yoochun?” Jaejoong nodded at you. Her eyes widened *I go to the bathroom for 2 minutes and he goes to dance with her? Why?* Ahyoung looked at Jaejoong, “So are you going to ask me to dance?” He straightened up and led her to the dance floor.
You held one hand out for Yoochun to take. But he didn’t. “I have another method of dancing.” You curiously inclined your head. Your eyes rounded as he slipped both his arms around your waist. Your nose was literally touching his. “Er…what do I do with my arms?” “Where do you think?” His eyes were teasing. You wound them around his neck very carefully. This position was more intimate with Jaejoong and you felt slightly uncomfortable.
“I’m sorry I forced you to grant my wish.” Yoochun apologized. You smiled and shook your head, “I had to grant one anyways and this isn’t a bad wish at all.”
“You like my dancing style?” He kidded. You just smiled along.
The two of you talked about random things. It was nice catching up with him again.
Jaejoong and Ahyoung were both watching you. He stiffened *They’re way too close. I need him to get away from her now.* She turned her gaze to Jaejoong. Her face fell when she realized he was looking at you, too. *Why do both you and Yoochun look only at her now? Is she that special? Did you forget all about me? I thought I was important to you two. Especially you, Kim Jaejoong. Are you changing now?*
Ahyoung stepped back. Jaejoong looked at her, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m going to get a drink.” Grumbling, she walked away.
He was too preoccupied with you and Yoochun to care at the moment.
