Cooking with Chef Jaejoong
After cooking class on Friday, you came home to try out what you learned. You looked at your notes and added precise amounts of the ingredients. You tasted the stew and tilted your head. *It’s not bad but it’s missing something…*
“What are you doing?”
“AH!” You jumped and dropped the spoon.
Jaejoong caught the spoon before it could clatter onto the floor. You grabbed it back, “W-what are you doing here?!”
“I came to pick up my documents.” Jaejoong held the green folder up and raised an eyebrow, “Are you doing one of your cooking experiments again?”
You blocked his view from the stove, “Go away.” Jaejoong peered over, “Is that bean paste stew?”
“Go back to work!” You pushed him but he came back and sniffed the air, “Yup. Bean paste stew.”
Jaejoong yanked the spoon from you. “Hey!” You yelped. He took a taste of the stew. “This is bland.”
“I know.” You pouted. “I was trying to figure out what went wrong.”
Jaejoong looked inside the stew. “You babo. You didn’t add any vegetables.” “Huh?” You peered inside the pot. “Oh.”
“You were too focused on the soup itself that you didn’t bother making it into a real stew.” Jaejoong drew up his sleeves and went to the refridgerator.
You crossed your arms, “Don’t you have work to do?”
“I have enough time to teach you some cooking skills.” Jaejoong tossed an onion into the air and caught it.
“Show-off.” You snorted. Yet, you were interested and leaned in. You watched him expertly dice the vegetables. “Wow…” You were amazed by his speed and accuracy. You envied anyone who could slice like that. You were about to put the vegetables in but he pushed your hands away.
“I will do it. You can’t just dump the vegetables in. Food that looks good tastes good, too.” Jaejoong started to organize the vegetables by color
. “Why are you the director of a car company again? You should be a chef.” You said. He chuckled, “I hope that is a compliment.” “It is.” You beamed.
“There.” Jaejoong smiled in satisfaction. You clapped, “It’s amazing!” Jaejoong grinned. “I just hope it tastes just as good.” You gave him a suspicious look. Jaejoong crossed his arms and raised his chin, “Don’t worry. It will be. You just sit and wait.” You sat on the stool and rested your arms on the counter.
Jaejoong cleaned up all the mess. “Hey, you did most of this. So why do I have to clean up-“ He turned around. You were asleep. *This girl falls asleep so easily.*
Jaejoong watched you and a smile grew on his face. He pulled out his phone and started taking pictures. At the 3rdpicture, you opened your eyes. Jaejoong froze. *Shit. I was caught.*
You sat up, “What are you doing?! Are you taking pictures of me sleeping?! You creeper! Delete them!” You hopped out of your seat and reached for his phone.
“No way!” Jaejoong held the phone all the way up.
You jumped up and down and grabbed his arm. But he just switched the phone to his other arm. “Jaejoong oppa! Delete my pictures!”
“Why?!” Jaejoong struggled to protect his phone.
“Because they’re ugly!” You squealed. You grabbed his hand with the phone in it.
Jaejoong held on tighter and pinned you against the refrigerator. “I’m not going to delete your pictures anytime soon so just give up.” “No! I don’t like it when I sleep! I’m ugly!” You protested. Jaejoong grabbed your hand to keep you from taking his phone away. “How do you know that?! You never even saw yourself sleep.”
“I just know, okay?! Now gimme!” You squealed.
Jaejoong pinned both your wrists to the refrigerator. “Trust me,” He looked into your eyes, “You’re anything BUT ugly when you sleep.”
You softened. “How do you know?” You whispered.
*Because I watch you when you’re sleeping and I love seeing you sleep.* Jaejoong replied, “I just know…”
The two of you gazed into each other’s eyes, trying to figure the other one out. His eyes landed on your lips and his heart beat accelerated upwards. *Something is wrong with my heart! My heartbeat shot off like a rocket all of a sudden and I can’t control it!* You just stood there, afraid to breathe. You tried hard to think about other things so that your own heartbeat wouldn’t start going wild. But when Jaejoong’s face neared yours, you lost all concentration. *Are we going to kiss for the 3rdtime?! But this time, no one is forcing us to kiss.*
Jaejoong and you both closed your eyes. Right when his lips were a millimeter away, someone came inside, “Jaejoong?”
Both of you opened your eyes and he stepped away from you. “Ahyoung?” His eyes widened.
*What the- how did she get in?!* You were beyond annoyed at her for ruining the moment.
“How did you get in here?” Jaejoong asked.
“The front door was unlocked. I knocked a couple times, didn’t you hear?” She put her bag down. “No.” He shook his head.
Ahyoung glanced at you and warily asked him, “I wasn’t interrupting anything…was I?”
Both you and Jaejoong turned red. He shook his head, “No, we were about to eat. Do you want to eat, too?”
Ahyoung shook his head, “Actually I reserved a place at the sushi restaurant. I thought we could eat out for dinner.” “Oh. Sure. Go get ready, ~~~~~~~~.” Jaejoong said. “Um, actually…I only reserved 3 seats.” Ahyoung stated. “You, me, and ~~~~~~~ are 3 people..” Jaejoong pointed out.
“You’re forgetting Yoochun.” She sternly crossed her arms. *Why would I reserve for her instead of Yoochun?* “Oh.” He thought. *Why couldn’t she just reserve for 4? Maybe Yoochun doesn’t have to come.* He was about to suggest that when you said, “It’s all right. I have dinner ready here anyways. Um, you should go with her, Jaejoong oppa.”
“You sure?” He asked. “She already said you could go.” Ahyoung said.
“Go.” You nodded. “All right…eat the stew, okay? It’s probably good.” Jaejoong said. You nodded. “Let’s go.” He told Ahyoung. She triumphantly smiled and left with him.
You heard the front door close and sighed. *I let her steal him away from me again! Whatever. They belong together anyways.* Melancholy, you set up the table with the food. You ate a spoonful of rice and sipped the stew. *He’s right. It is good. It would’ve been better if he was here to eat with me.* Your shoulders deflated.
