Birthday Present

On Saturday afternoon, you came downstairs to be stopped by Jaejoong. He handed you an envelope.

“What is this?” You opened it and pulled out the invitation.

“Next Saturday, I’m going to have my birthday party at Midnight Bar. And of course, you’re invited.” Jaejoong grinned.

Your eyes rounded, “IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY NEXT SATURDAY?!” He shrugged, “It’s actually on Thursday but it feels weird having a party then.”

You stared at the invitation *It’s his birthday. It’s his first birthday that we’re actually celebrating together.*

“Don’t forget my present.” Jaejoong winked and went upstairs.

You grasped the situation and started panicking *It’s his birthday in less than a week! What do I do?!* You called Hyunbin up, “OPPA! I NEED YOU TO GATHER ALL THE LATEST MALE FASHIONABLE ITEMS! I’LL BE THERE IN 20 MINUTES!”

20 minutes later, you were in one of the privately closed rooms of the mall. Your eyes glittered at all the items in the room.

Hyunbin raised an eyebrow, “This is why I wasted 20 minutes of my life? So that you can get a birthday present for that disgusting leech?”

“What about this?!” You held out a silver watch. “How about I get you something that’s from our garbage stock?” He growled.

“Oppa~ come on! I need help! This is the first birthday of Jaejoong oppa that I’ll spend with him!” You whined. “So?” He asked.

“Oppa!”

“It might be your last, too, so what’s the big deal?” Hyunbin asked.

You put your hands on your hips and gave him a look. He sighed, “Okay, what can I help with?”

You made him try on different clothes. Every time he came out, you would imagine the clothes in Jaejoong. “No.” You shook your head for the umpteenth time. Hyunbin sighed and went back in. He came back out in a striped sweater.

You put your fingers together to make a square and closed one eye to examine him. *Hmmm. I could imagine Jaejoong oppa wearing something like that.* “Okay!” You beamed.

Hyunbin came back out and handed you the sweater.

“I think Jaejoong oppa has broader shoulders than you so he needs a bigger size.” You replied. “No, he doesn’t.” He put the sweater in the bag. You gave it back, “Yes, he does!” “No, he doesn’t!” Hyunbin gave you a dark look, “Trust me. No one, and I repeat NO ONE, has bigger shoulders than me, all right?! Take it or leave it!”

“Fine, fine.” You snatched the sweater back. You saw a simple silver ring hanging from a black leather necklace. “…Can I get that, too?” You asked.

“This?” Hyunbin held it out. You nodded. He put it in a case and gave it to you.

“Thank you.” You beamed.

Hyunbin leaned against the counter with his hands in his pockets and raised an eyebrow, “Aren’t you being too excited for his birthday?” “Huh?” You blinked at him in puzzlement. He crossed his arms and looked straight at you, “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were actually happy for his birthday.”

“What’s to be sad about?” You asked.

“I thought you didn’t like him.” Hyunbin pointed out.

“I don’t hate him.” You casually shrugged. He stared at you. “I just want his birthday to be special, okay?” You went back to goggling at the presents.

Hyunbin tilted his head *Exactly but why? It’s not like you’re actually in love with him. Right?*
