It was a rainy Sunday. You wanted to go outside but not alone. You would’ve asked Dongwook and Hyunbin to play with you but they were all away on business trips.
Jaejoong came downstairs in sweatpants and sweater, ready to head for the gym. He slung the towel over his shoulder and headed towards the front door. All of a sudden, he heard a heavy sigh and stopped. Jaejoong saw you sitting on your knees on the sofa facing the window. Your arms were laying on the sofa and your chin was resting on your arms.
You heaved another sigh and looked out the window with puppy eyes. *Rain, rain go away. Don’t come again another day.*
Jaejoong shrugged and headed towards the door but he heard you sigh for the third time. He closed his eyes and squeezed the doorknob. *Is she going to just sigh the day away?* Jaejoong opened his eyes and looked at you.
Your back looked sad and lonely. He realized he hadn’t really been paying attention to you lately. As artificial as this marriage was, you were still his wife. Jaejoong tossed the towel on the coat hanger and came over. “Hey.”
You sat up. “Oh, it’s you.”
“Yeah, it’s me.” Jaejoong made a face and sat down. “What are you doing?”
You sank down onto the seat with another one of your earth-splitting sighs, “Absolutely nothing. I hate the rain. I can’t do anything.”
“Call up your friends. I’m sure they’re more than willing to free you.” Jaejoong sarcastically said.
“I already tried but Hyunbin oppa is in Japan and Dongwook oppa is in China.” You said. *Oh really?* He sat up. You hugged your knees to your chest with a pout, “Now I’m alone.”
“Thanks. It’s like I don’t even exist.” Jaejoong threw his hands up. You remained silent.
“Tell you what.” Jaejoong turned to you. “Today, I’ll play with you.”
You blinked at him, “Are you serious?”
“Why would I be lying?” He asked.
“Why would you play with me?” You retorted.
“You are my wife, right?” Jaejoong asked. “To other’s eyes, yes.” You said.
“I just wanted to be nice since I know I haven’t paid much attention to you lately. But if you want me to buzz off, I will.” Jaejoong stood up.
“Wait!” You called. He turned around.
“…What will we exactly play?” You tilted your head.
“YES! I get to collect $200 again!” Jaejoong pumped his fists and took the fake cash. You pouted and tossed your dice. “How can you be so good at this game?! I was stuck in jail 3 times! I haven’t bought that much lands yet AND I wasted all my money paying your rent!”
Jaejoong grinned, “It was your mistake. How could you even think of playing Monopoly against a professional entrepreneur?” You frowned *I play against Hyunbin and Dongwook oppas and they’re big entrepreneurs, too, but I win all the time.* “And you rolled a 3.” Jaejoong pointed out.
You took your figure and hopped three squares down. “A-ha! You landed on my estate! Pay up!” Jaejoong held his hand out.
You slapped the remaining $10 in his hand, “That’s all I have. I’m over. I have no money left to play.” You hugged the cushion and scowled.
“I’ll let you get a loan.” Jaejoong grinned. “Loan?” You blinked.
“Yeah. I’m the banker. I’ll give you a loan.” Jaejoong said. You held out your hand but he held the tray of money away, “On one condition.” “What?” You asked. “For every $100 you take, you owe me a wish.” Jaejoong said.
“What kind of wish?” You suspiciously looked at him. Jaejoong casually shrugged, “Nothing much. Just little favors. Like how I asked you to get something for me from Yoochun."
*If that’s all then…* “Araso.” You shrugged. “Why not?”
“Great. So how much do you want?” Jaejoong grinned. You thought about it then answered, “$1000.” *Does she not know that is 10 wishes or does she not care?* Jaejoong gave the fake money to you.
The game continued once more but you didn’t improve much. You lost all your money again. “I’m through! I don’t like this game!” You crossed your arms in dissatisfaction. Jaejoong chuckled, “You should never become the CEO. You’ll lose all your business.” He cleaned up all the pieces and put the box away. You lay on the couch and looked outside. It was still raining.
Jaejoong came back, “All right! Now for my first wish!” You looked at him. “I’m hungry. I wish for lunch.” He said.
*Lunch?* You blinked. “I’ll be in my office. Call me when you’re done.” Jaejoong went upstairs.
You sat up and scratched your head. *Hmm. What do I get him for lunch?*
Half an hour later, you called Jaejoong down.
*Finished already?* He stopped on the staircase when he saw you paying the delivery boy.
“Thank you.” You closed the door. You looked up a Jaejoong, “Hurry up or this will cool down.” He warily followed you into the dining room. “Here.” You gave him the utensils and the omelet. You started to spray ketchup on your own omelet.
“You know…when I asked for lunch, I meant for you to cook. Not to order something. I could’ve done that.” Jaejoong stated. “You said that you wished for lunch, not for me to cook. Be more specific next time.” You teased. “But I really wanted to see you cook.” Jaejoong grumbled.
You thoughtfully bit the edge of your spoon *He must be really serious about wanting a wife that can cook…I’ll see what I can do about it.*
A couple hours passed. Jaejoong was working in his office and you were still downstairs. He received a call from Ahyoung, asking to meet up. Jaejoong changed and went downstairs, “Hey, I’m going-“ He stopped when he saw you asleep on the couch. You were curled up on your side and hugging a pillow to your chest.
Jaejoong softened, “Babo. Don’t sleep in the cold or your mouth will twist.” He ot a blanket and pulled it over you. You snuggled into the warmth. Jaejoong smiled and quietly walked to the door. He glanced at you once more before heading out. Jaejoong went into his car and looked at the mansion with a sigh. *Why do I feel so guilty leaving her behind like this? Whatever. She’ll be fine. She doesn’t need me.* He pulled the car out of the driveway and sped off.
Half an hour later, you woke up from your nap. You sat up while rubbing your eyes *Oh. Where’d this blanket come from?* You put the pillow down and headed upstairs. You gently knocked on his bedroom door, “Jaejoong oppa? Are you there?” You carefully opened the door and peeked inside. But no one was in there. You checked his study room, too, but it was empty also. *Did he go somewhere?*
You went back to the living room and sank onto the sofa. You didn’t realize it before when he was here, but now that you were completely alone, you felt forlorn and gloomy.
You sighed and hugged the cushion once again. *I hate to admit it but I realize it when he is missing now. I wish he was still here…*
