Post-engagement - comedy dbsk jaejoong jyj korean romance - main story image

A A A A

The engagement ceremony was short and simple. The only guests were the two families. The adults were delighted that you and Jaejoong were so willing. Only if they knew what was really in your and his mind.

After the engagement, you and Jaejoong went separate ways. You went to Dongwook’s house for dinner. You rang the doorbell and Hyunbin opened the door.

“I thought this was Lee Dongwook’s house.” You teased.

“Well if it isn’t Mrs. Kim Jaejoong.” He batted his lashes at you.

“Jerk.” You kicked his leg. “YAH!” Hyunbin yelped as he jumped up and down. Dongwook chuckled, “Welcome.”

“Hi, oppa~ I brought some wine.” You held it out. “Thank you.” Dongwook smiled and put it in his collection.

Hyunbin limped over, “Hey! How come you never bring me wine?”

You ignored him, “I’m going to go wash my hands.” “You know where the bathroom is.” Dongwook said.

“Deaf snob.” Hyunbin snorted. “I heard that!” You called back. Dongwook laughed.

You washed your hands and came back to find pasta on the table. “Waaa~ Dongwook oppa did you really make all this?” You were amazed. “Yeah. I don’t know if it’s any good though.” He modestly said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

“It’s better than Hyunbin oppa’s cooking.” You beamed. “Hey! The instructions on the back of the stupid ramen were wrong! No wonder only common people read them! They’re for people with IQ of 2 digits!” Hyunbin snapped. You and Dongwook laughed at the memory of the burnt ramen on that camping trip.

The 3 of you ate dinner then gathered in the living room to chat. You sat on the sofa with your legs across the cushions. You hugged a pillow as you swirled the grape juice in your wine glass.

“You should have some alcohol on this kind of day.” Hyunbin held out the wine bottle. You shook your hand, “One glass and I knock out.” “Exactly. Don’t you want to forget about today?” He asked.

“Oh yeah. How did your engagement go?” Dongwook asked. You shrugged, “Not very exciting.”

“Of course not. You and Jaejoong are really good actors. I wonder what your parents will do once they find out this is all just play.” Hyunbin mused. “Throw a fit and make her marry the next billionaire they meet.” Dongwook smirked.

“Then I better be married then- OW!” The pillow bonked off Hyunbin’s face. “YAH! I SWEAR TO GOD! IF SOMETHING GETS ON MY TRACKSUIT AGAIN OR IF MY NOSE IS ANY LESS HIGH THAN IT WAS BEFORE, BEST FRIEND OR NOT, I WILL SUE YOU!”

You stuck your tongue out at him. He rolled his eyes, “So childish.”

“You’re even more childish for making her that way.” Dongwook argued. You grinned triumphantly.

“Okay, I don’t understand why you’re always on her side! You were friends with me since we were born, dammit!” Hyunbin snapped.

“It’s cause I’m so cute~” You joked. “I’m cute, too. See?” Hyunbin winked.

This time, Dongwook threw a pillow at him. “YAH! AISH! YOU TWO!” Hyunbin swore. You and Dongwook laughed and hi-fived each other. Grumbling something about a conspiracy, Hyunbin went to wash his hands.

You sipped your juice and settled back.

“So now you’re Kim Jaejoong’s fiancé.” Dongwook said. “Ugh. Don’t remind me.” You made a face. “You honestly hate it that much?” He asked. You nodded, “I can’t stand the guy. He’s so cocky; he makes Hyunbin oppa look timid.” “That’s a lot of arrogance right there.” Dongwook sipped his wine in agreement.

You put your wine glass on the sofa and yawned, “I can’t wait until this marriage blows off.”

Dongwook nodded, “Don’t worry. It’ll all be over soon. It’s not like you two will really fall in love and stay together forever, right?”

“Right.” You lay your head on the sofa and drifted off to sleep.

Hyunbin came back, “Hey, where’s the towel-“

Dongwook put a finger to his lips and nodded at you. Hyunbin looked at you and stopped talking.

Dongwook held out his hand, “Hand me that blanket over there.” Hyunbin brought it over. Dongwook took it and pulled it over you. The two of them sat back down and watched you.

Dongwook tilted his head and watched you, “You have to admit. Our best friend is an angel.”

“Pfft. Yeah, when she’s not talking.” Hyunbin said.

Dongwook grinned, “I bet you’re more upset over this engagement than anyone else.”

“Please. It’s all fake. Anyone can see that. Sooner or later, they’ll split up and we’ll never have to see Kim Jaejoong again.” Hyunbin rolled his eyes.

“I wonder if he’ll treat her nicely while they are together.” Dongwook wondered as he slid his finger around the glass.

“If he makes a single tear fall from her eye, I’ll kill him.” Hyunbin simply put as he sipped his wine.

Dongwook laughed, “You would.”

“I would.” Hyunbin shrugged with a smile your way.

Meanwhile, Jaejoong was at Midnight bar with Ahyoung and Yoochun. Ahyoung sat between them in her velvet red dress. They had ordered cocktails and were drinking while chatting about old times and new. Ahyoung laughed at Yoochun’s drink.

Jaejoong smiled at how gorgeous she looked in the candlelight. *I’m lucky to even be her friend.*

Yoochun looked at him, “How did your engagement go?” Ahyoung curiously looked at him, too. Jaejoong’s smile fell. *Why does he have to mention this in front of her?* He looked away and focused on his 3rdcocktail.

Ahyoung rested her elbows on the table and looked at him, “Are you really…getting married to the girl that ruined my dress?”

“Let’s call her by her name now. She deserves that much respect.” Yoochun gently chided.

“No!” Ahyoung pouted. She was also childish, if not more, than you. “I’m still mad at her for ruining my dress and my night. Now she’s stealing my best friend.”

Jaejoong looked up in interest, “Yoo Ahyoung. Don’t tell me you’re jealous that I’m getting married.” She looked away as she casually stabbed a kiki with her fork, “Not exactly jealous…”

Jaejoong raised an eyebrow. “I just don’t like her!” Ahyoung blurted.

“Why?” He asked. “Because for obvious reasons and because…she’s taking you away from me. I can’t believe there will be another girl in your life now.” Her eyes softened in sadness.

Jaejoong was touched. He didn’t know he had meant so much to her. “Ahyoung, you’ll always be the number one girl in my life. Forever and always.” She smiled, happy at his promise.

“In means of that, let’s make a toast. To Jaejoong’s engagement.” Yoochun held up his cocktail.

“To best friends for life!” Ahyoung beamed.

Jaejoong clinked his glass with hers. “…To love.” He looked right at her as he drank.
