The continent of Serce was divided into four kingdoms - Cyphus, Encis, Lamina, and Virgula. But people in the Three Kingdoms believe that Virgula is just a legend. It was a land separate from them, too far into the sea of Lacrimae to be reached by Laminian trade boats and be seen by Cyphian inventions.

Stories were told about how Virgula is a kingdom of magic. It was believed to be the First Land. Spiritual people believe it was where the goddess Azrin stayed at as she shaped the whole of Serce. That it was the kingdom that she favored the most. But according to legends, Virgula vanished alongside her after the defeat of Bezna, the nightmare that sprung out of human evil.

The truth is, Virgula exists. There's a point where the vast ocean of Lacrimae is met by the red waters of Cruor, and in the middle of that sea is the land where Virgulians reside. And outside the castle walls built by the first King of Virgula is the ruins of Arcanum, underneath it is where the Bezna was believed to be imprisoned.

Pithos is a city outside the wall. It is where the legends about Virgula being a land of magic come true. But non-believers think of it as a place for crazy people who think they have magic in them.

Unlike before, only few have a strong enough tie with their spiritual beliefs to be blessed with special abilities. Those people either hide their powers for life or travel to Pithos for acceptance. Asanda Raen, a teenage girl, is one that was born in Pithos by parents who left the safety of the walls.

She was sleeping when soft snake hisses woke her up. Cold enveloped her as realization hit. Her eyes, normally brown, turned reptilian gold. The boy sleeping on her right stirred awake, took a look at her, and became alert. Slippery voice unlike her own came through , stringing words that will be soon known as the Prophecy of Pithos.

When the sleeping awakens
The shadows shall be taken
Vow of Azrin be true
White from red do what is due
Seek from the lands across
Power from what was lost
For the evil will rise again
Only blood will save us then
