Paper Heart

Description

Sometimes being accepted in society wasn’t all that easy. Actually, it was never easy in the first place. And once you were accepted, if you make a mistake and all the good traits that you once had would vanish as if it never existed, forgotten just because of a flaw that was once revealed, and would be written in the minds of others, for God knows how long.

Jessica wonders how it would be if mistakes were never made or if they were made, it wouldn’t ruin who she was in the eyes of others, more importantly to those who mattered in her life being. A chance was all she needed, yet to everyone it was the hardest thing to give. Begging was an option, but now it wasn’t, it was something she’s supposed to do but chose not to.

It was quite unfair that the social status of yours was big enough to destroy what you were before. If someone who did nothing for a living carelessly threw an empty wrapper out to the streets, no one would give a damn about it. But if you’re the president’s daughter and did the same thing, the next headline would be all about you and only you.

She didn’t want any of it. The pile of loot that she’d always receive for her to smile and be the person everyone wants to be, the extravagant house she’d never dare called home, the people who seemed to care but really didn’t. She was forced to the community because she was born with the family name, and she has no right to complain, not a single bit.

Like any other teenage girl, happiness was what she wanted. Bottling up all her anger, frustration and everything in between, she made a rushed decision that was never close to the term “clever”. She dressed up to not be identified, gone aimlessly at a bar, faked her ID, had fun, got wasted and the next thing she knew, she wasn’t that best of a shape shifter after all. Looking at the TV it displayed her with some people, not whom she knew of, chewing another’s face off, calling her a would be something very common after the news was revealed.

Jessica Jung, the one who was caught lip locking with a random male stripper at a bar.

It was ironic how before she was the Jessica Jung who was kind, proper and keen, the daughter of the President who’d work so hard to make the country perfect as it is.

Being the talk of the town, she never liked it one bit, neither did her parents who she never loved. The grudging feeling in her mind was forced to be contained, each sentence she said as an apology to the press made a venomous feel to her tongue.

She was saying sorry for being careless,
She was saying sorry for her actions,

She was saying sorry for being a person who made a mistake.

--

She kept tapping her pen for almost half an hour now, the professor in front wasn’t making sense at all from the history of the presidents till the love story of him and his wife which she could care less about. She watched everyone take down notes and she glanced at her notebook, it wasn’t touched from the moment it landed in her desk.

“Tiffany, if you think that the pen would randomly just write some notes, well you thought wrong.”

She peeked through her right to where the sound came from and it was none other than Sooyoung, the best friend that played a big role in her life. She was the one that insisted Tiffany to live in her dorm rather than spending thousands to pay for her own, at first she denied the offer thinking it was too much, but after numerous pleads of Sooyoung, convincing her that it was okay, they settled in together.

Whenever she had a problem, Sooyoung was there and was ready to listen to her every worry. Sooyoung was a special person to her, the best friend she always wanted.

“Well if he seemed to know all the blabbers he’s been saying for the past 30 minutes then maybe my hand would’ve wrote some letters already.” She casually said looking at the clock that read 4:30 which means another 30 minutes would need to pass before she gets the chance to plop on her bed.

“As much as I want to agree you can’t deny the fact that he’ll be the God when it comes to the finals and all you could do is stare at the examination paper hoping it would magically be caught on fire.” Sooyoung chuckled, erasing some words that needs revision.

Tiffany let out a sigh, sooyoung was right but nevertheless it didn’t change her mind. Instead of writing down she slickly opened her bag and took a hold of her phone.

Lurking around some websites, she accidentally clicked on one of the articles that was posted just today.

“Jung Jessica sets out a statement towards the scandal, confirming that it was indeed true, and apologized for her actions.” She mumbled while scanning her phone, on the other hand sooyoung was about to ask tiffany a question but she saw the latter fiddling with the device, “Tiffany I told you to—“

“I don’t know why she’d even bother to go to a club if she’ll apologize after being caught.”

“What are you talking about?”

She turned her phone to meet sooyoung’s curious eyes, “So that’s why she’s been absent for the past two weeks.”

“She has everything and she threw it away. What a waste. Now everybody sees her as some .” Tiffany expressed, in her view, she was never the one who could buy a dress on the spot once her eyes first landed in it. She needed to work hard just to get what she wanted, while the ever so great Jessica Jung everyone talks about can just swipe her card and purchase it without exerting a single sweat.

It was ever so stupid to make such a decision when she had it all.

Sooyoung propped her chin before ranting out, “Well, I don’t know about the real her, nor do you. She made a mistake, big deal, it’s not like you haven’t kissed someone at a bar before.”

“But she’s the president’s daughter for heaven’s sake, she could buy fourteen different cars without raising a pinkie.” Tiffany huffed, surely envious of what Jessica had that she didn’t.

Sooyoung knew this would be going nowhere so she just nodded in response turning her attention back to the professor that Tiffany wasn’t fond of.

The other brunette still stared at the phone, wondering what ifs, what ifs that included the, what if she was as rich as Jessica, what if she was pretty as her, what if she was the president’s daughter. She would’ve become the luckiest living person on earth.

Two social statuses were different, one being the typical person, and one being the topper of the main dish.

Two different personalities, one being the outgoing and delusional and one being primed and proper

Two different hearts, one being unfazed and never once felt love and one being similar, to a paper heart.

Author's Note: Hey there! Jujungie Here, with a JeTi story. I didn't give much insights of Tiffany and her background, but the whole story would revolve around her view so I guess it wouldn't be a problem. :)

Hopefully everything goes well, I don't know how to do this author's note thing, so please forgive me for being an awkward turtle here. :(
