Taekwoon silently watched Sanghyuk curled up in their bed. The younger lycanthrope looked so small, so fragile that Leo couldn’t help but want to protect him. To be completely honest, when he had first heard that Sanghyuk was the only survivor of the Northern Pack, he hadn’t believed that a pup like him could be the last hope of the whole pack. He’d even said as much right to the younger’s face when they first met.
He deeply regretted that now. Sanghyuk had proven countless times just how strong his spirit was, how capable he was in the battle field, and how useful he was at home helping the rest of their pack. It was no wonder his pack had sent him away, placed all their hopes and dreams upon his shoulders. They must have known what he was able to do, how great he could become. They must have known that he wouldn’t just survive, but bring pride to the pack name and ensure that no one ever forgot that they had existed.
Or maybe they had other reasons for sending Sanghyuk off, saving him from the bloody horror that befell the Northern Pack. Taekwoon had long suspected that Sanghyuk’s pack had wanted more from him then to just live on and carry on their memory. No, he suspected that they had wanted him to rebuild their pack, making it stronger. Maybe they even wanted Sanghyuk to seek revenge upon those who had killed the rest of the werewolves.
But neither of those things were going to happen.
Sanghyuk was him mate and this was their pack. Taekwoon also was not about to let his beloved run off to get revenge upon those who killed his original pack. The Northern Pack was known to be some of the strongest fighters of all werewolf kind. Whoever, or whatever, had killed them all save for Sanghyuk had to be strong, stronger than one lone lycanthrope. Taekwoon would rather die himself then see Sanghyuk felled by some unknown beast.
“Taekwoon,” Sanghyuk called out, voice heavy with sleep, “Where are you?” Taekwoon watched with soft eyes as Sanghyuk reached out, running his fingers over the place Taekwoon normally slept and frowning when he realized how cold the sheets were.
“Here,” Taekwoon replied, “by the window.” Sanghyuk rolled over slightly so that he could face his mate.
“Come to bed,” Sanghyuk said, holding out a hand as if to beckon Taekwoon over, “it’s cold.”
“Alright,” Taekwoon smiled slightly, moving over to his side of the bed and curling up beside Sanghyuk.
The younger let out a small sigh of contentment as he pressed himself against Taekwoon as tightly as he could. Taekwoon smiled softly, wrapping his arms around Sanghyuk and placing a kiss on the crown of his head.
No, Taekwoon didn’t care what the Northern Pack’s original plan was for their last hope. The only thing that mattered to him was that Sanghyuk belonged to him.
A/N: I like it. But I’m unsure if I should keep it going. I mean, I want to keep it going, but it could also work as a stand-alone type thing. ….I really like this one, so I think I just might make it a series.
