Ravi was in pain. More specifically, he was in a great deal of emotional pain. Not only had he had to leave Sanghyuk, but now he had been told that the king of the monsters – Leo – had an interest in Sanghyuk. Leo was not really the monster king. Not yet anyway. No, he could only be officially named king after finding a queen to rule by his side.

After years of Leo denying suitor after suitor, the young monster prince had decided on a queen. It was just bad luck for Ravi that the one Leo had decided upon was Sanghyuk. Although that did explain why he’d been able to stay with the human for so long, he wished that there had been some other reason. Any other reason.

“Ravi,” Leo said, voice quiet but still demanding attention, “I have arranged for you to share a dorm room with Sanghyuk. You will be his personal guard. I expect you to protect him with your life.”

“Yes, my lord,” Ravi nodded, bowing his head not just as a sign of respect but to hide the tears that wanted to fall.

His hands were tied on the matter. He could not go against his king – or future king – and try to take Sanghyuk for himself. Not unless he wished for a painful end. Yet, he didn’t think that he could just stand by and watch as another stole the heart of the one he loved.

“You may go,” Leo said, “N will help you find a suitable disguise so that you can look like a normal human. Ask him about finding you a new name as well, something that will fit.”

“Yes, my lord,” Ravi bowed again before leaving.

Outside the room was N, waiting for him. The older monster opened his arms, inviting Ravi to cry upon his shoulder. Ravi did exactly that.

A/N: I feel bad for Ravi. He really can’t do anything, can he? Either he tries for Sanghyuk’s heart and is killed for it, or he stands by and watches another take the one he loves which would also kill him.
