Leo sat in the window seat, looking down at the street below. More specifically, at the people passing by below. Since finding a home with Sanghyuk and Hakyeon, he’d taken a liking to people watching. Before, he couldn’t stand it for fear of locking eyes with someone who’d take him home and abuse him like many of his past owners. But he didn’t have to worry about that now because Sanghyuk was his owner and Sanghyuk would never abandon him.

“Leo,” Sanghyuk called, pulling his attention away from the people, “can you come here for a minute?”

“What’s up?” the cat boy asked, following the sound of Sanghyuk’s voice to the human’s room. Well, more like their room since Sanghyuk let Leo sleep with him at night.

Leo opened the door and was more than a little surprised to see Sanghyuk putting things in a suitcase. The poor cat boy had no idea what was going on. Was Sanghyuk leaving? Without him? Leo flat out refused to let that happen. He would never let Sanghyuk go anywhere without him.

“I’m going home for a few days,” Sanghyuk explained when he noticed how panicked Leo looked, “it’s just for a couple of days. My mother fell and hurt herself. My dad is on a business trip right now and can’t look after her.”

“You don’t have any siblings?” Leo frowned.

“None that can look after my mom right now,” Sanghyuk sighed, “it will only be for a few days, Leo. I’ll be back before you know it.”

“How long before you leave?” Leo asked, not vocalizing his thought that he always noticed when Sanghyuk wasn’t there.

“Tomorrow night,” Sanghyuk said, “please be good for Hakyeon, alright? I know he can be clingy and I know how you hate that, but please try. For me?”

“Fine,” Leo muttered before leaving the bedroom. The cat boy curled up on the couch and sulked, silently wishing that Sanghyuk didn’t have to leave or that he would at least take Leo with him.

That night wasn’t much better. Leo pressed himself tightly against Sanghyuk’s side, almost liked he expected Sanghyuk to vanish at any moment. The cat boy kept wondering if Sanghyuk would come back at all, if maybe this was all part of a master plan to leave him alone again. Maybe Sanghyuk wanted to get away from him because he wasn’t a good pet. Maybe Sanghyuk didn’t really like him. thoughts like that kept running through Leo’s mind until the wee hours of the morning when he finally fell asleep.

Leo woke up several hours later. He didn’t have to open his eyes to know that he was in a car and that knowledge terrified him. Nothing good ever came from him being in a car. Every time he was in one, it was because his owner was getting rid of him. Leo didn’t want to open his eyes, to see whoever was in the driver’s seat, but he slowly opened them anyway and found Sanghyuk.

“You’re awake,” Sanghyuk smiled when he noticed that Leo was up from the corner of his eye, “good. You must have been really tired because you didn’t wake up when I carried you to the car.”

“What’s going on?” Leo asked, fighting the urge to curl up in a ball and cry. He really liked Sanghyuk – and Hakyeon – and he couldn’t stand the thought of leaving his owner. Was Sanghyuk really getting rid of him?

“You were so upset yesterday,” Sanghyuk explained, not looking away from the road, “that I couldn’t leave you at home. so I called my mom when I woke up this morning and told her I was going to bring you along. Hakyeon hyung helped me pack some stuff for you and now here we are.”

“I’m going with you?” Leo asked, not sure if he believed it.

“Yeah,” Sanghyuk nodded, looking at Leo quickly before returning his focus to what he was doing, “my mom’s looking forewords to meeting you. just remember to be good, alright?”

“Ok,” Leo smiled slightly, his fears of being abandoned by his beloved master gone from his head.
