“AH!” Sanghyuk’s scream woke everyone in the house.

Taekwoon didn’t waste any time getting out of bed and rushing into the younger werewolf’s room. He was quick to locate Sanghyuk, pressed up against the wall farthest from his bed and eyes frozen upon the thing that had caused him to scream. Taekwoon followed his gaze and found a young boy dressed in rags and looking like he’s just crawled out of the ground.

Or maybe that was the after effects of watching a zombie movie with Sanghyuk.

“Who are you?” Taekwoon growled, quickly putting himself between the boy and Sanghyuk.

“Who are you?” the boy replied. his voice was deeper than Taekwoon had expected, more mature, and it made him question just how old the boy really was.

“What’s going on?” Taekwoon’s father asked, entering the room and turning on the lights.

“This stranger was in Sanghyuk’s room,” Taekwoon explained, “must have snuck in. he doesn’t smell of our pack.”

“Of course I don’t,” the boy – or man? – shrugged, “I’m part of Sanghyuk’s pack.”

“We’re his pack,” Taekwoon growled, backing up a little so that he was closer to Sanghyuk.

“His old pack,” the other werewolf rolled his eyes and Taekwoon realized that that the boy was probably around his age. He only looked young because of his oversized cloths and underfed body.

“Jaehwan?” Sanghyuk breathed, eyes widening as disbelief and hope swirled in them.

“Yeah,” Jaehwan nodded, “I’ve been looking for you for weeks, Hyukkie.”

“How did you find me?” Sanghyuk asked, rushing past Taekwoon to hug the other, “And how did you survive?”

“I was back home and caught your scent,” Jaehwan explained, “from there I followed the scouts keeping an eye on the place here since they smelled of the same pack as you. As for how I survived, my dad took me on that hunting trip, remember? When we got back, everyone was gone.”

“Wait,” Taekwoon’s father said, drawing the attention of the two hugging werewolves, “are you telling me that other members of the Northern pack survived? It’s not just Sanghyuk?”

“I only know of myself and my father,” Jaehwan admitted, “and he passed away a few years ago.”

Taekwoon simply watched from the side lines, wishing that Jaehwan would let go of Sanghyuk and leave. Taekwoon didn’t want him here, not if he was going to touch and talk to Sanghyuk with such familiarity. Clearly, they had been close and Taekwoon was very jealous of that. he wanted so badly to be the one Sanghyuk was close to, the one he had fond memories of.

Taekwoon wished that it really had been a zombie.
