History always ends up repeating itself in some way or another. After the Devolution occurred, the world stumbled back into what it was centuries ago, under empires. Advancements in technology allowed the Kim Dynasty to rule over the entire population of the eastern hemisphere, not that it was as enormous as it was in 2014 BD (Before Devolution), and the western hemisphere was taken over by a new government headed by the Nam-Liberty party. Both empires focused on rebuilding their land and cities, improving on their own side of the earth and not paying attention to the other. As time went on, slaves were brought back into the labor system, and the people of the empires were sorted out into ranks. 

Prince Kim Sunggyu never really understood why those of the past had given up on monarchies; he always thought that democracies took too long to make decisions and things ran much more smoothly under one ruling family. However, he was also one of the more "old-thinking" princes, craving for things that were currently labeled as unnecessary and unimportant—things like adrenaline, friendship, and love. So, when western hemisphere slaves started to be traded to the eastern hemisphere (secretly, for interactions between the two sides were strictly regulated), Sunggyu found himself intrigued by a western slave that went by the name: Lee Sungyeol.
