Twenty Four

Naeun watched in amusement as her best friend indulged herself in her cooking. She had decided to kidnap Haru during lunch break since Kris had a business meeting to attend the whole day and brought her to her apartment. She prepared some beef, vegetables and some few side dishes along with kimchi to eat with rice for lunch, and she was amazed to see Haru gobbling up the food on the table like as if she hadn't eaten for three days.

"Yah, slow down." she said, her voice laced with amusement as Haru coughed. "Sorry, but I've been missing your cooking." Haru replied sheepishly and tried to control herself from eating like a pig. She used to love it whenever Naeun cooks for her, and apparently she still loves it now. "You look like you haven't eaten for months," her best friend commented. Haru chuckled and shook her head. "I've been a bit tired lately, and because of that none of the food I make looks appetizing. I've been eating less lately, which angers Kris, but nothing seems to be my liking."

"Are you stressed?" Naeun asked, worried now. Haru tends to eat less whenever she's stress, and even if she's hungry, she'll find no food appetizing enough for her and ends up not eating at all. I should inform Kris about that so he can take care of her better whenever this happens, Naeun reminded herself. "Anyways, how's your life?" she suddenly asked, causing Haru to choke on her food. "Y-Yah!" Haru exclaimed with a red face. "What kind of question is that?" she asked and her best friend shrugged. "A serious one."

"Why would you ask that?" The other shrugged once more before taking a bite of kimchi. "I'm just curious. Is he treating you well?" Haru blushed harder and Naeun snickered. "He's that good, huh?" she chuckled, ignoring the other's embarrassed glare. "It's been what, two weeks since you got back from the honeymoon, right? Tell me, are you enjoying your life?" Haru sighed loudly, choosing to give up whining and trying to shut her best friend up when she knew she was going to lose in the end.

"Yes, I enjoy my life. Though I'm still having a hard time getting used to it." she admitted, causing Naeun to frown. "Really? How come?" "He's really considerate, you know? Sure, there are times when he lets his hormone win, but he would give me time to rest before he starts... y'know." She was really embarrassed talking about it, but Naeun was her best friend so she didn't feel all that bad. "So in other words, you don't have all the time?" she asked and Haru shook her head. "Nope. I used to hear the other employees imagining him in bed, you know?" Haru suddenly recalled. "They imagined him as a beast in bed, and that he was all the time."

"It's the total opposite, isn't it?" Naeun giggled and Haru nodded sheepishly. "He's really gently with me and he always make sure that I'm okay after all our sessions." Her friend laughed gleefully before shrieking in excitement. "Girl, you're in love~" she suddenly sang. "No I'm not!" she denied, but her cheeks were flushed. "But I don't deny that I am attracted to him." Naeun snorted at this. "Who doesn't?" she asked and Haru glared at her playfully before they laughed. After lunch, Naeun took out a bottle of yogurt drink from the fridge and poured a cup for herself. She didn't bother pouring one for her best friend because she knew Haru never did like yogurt drinks. "I need to be back at the office soon, best." Haru told her as she walked into the kitchen after fixing her makeup. She tilted her head to the side when she saw the drink.

"What's that?" she asked, looking like an interested kid. Naeun smiled at her cute expression. "Yogurt. You know, the one you don't like." Haru then walked towards her and took a whiff of the smell. "It smells like mixed fruits." she commented. "It is." Naeun responded as she turned to the sink to wash the glass. "Can I have a try?" the other suddenly asked. The former turned back in astonishment and raised a brow. "Are you sure? You said you didn't like it before because it's a bit sour." Haru seemed to be thinking before she nodded. "Yeah, I can use a little bit of sour." Her best friend gave her a long glance before nodding and pouring her a glass. She watched as Haru took a small sip of the drink for taste.

"Mmmm..." she hummed in delight before beginning to chug down the whole glass. "Guess taste buds changed too now that you're married huh?" Naeun teased. "Shut it. I needed something sour and this works." Haru retorts with a snort. Naeun rolled her eyes and waited till she was done before they walked out of the apartment to send Haru back to the office.

"Who'd you eat lunch with today?" Kyungsoo asked as he sat at Haru's desk, waiting for her to finish going through the file in her hands. "Naeun kidnapped me to have lunch with her at her apartment," the other replied without taking her eyes off the folder. "Hmm, I thought I saw her earlier." the man commented. "Anyways, what'd you think? I would've asked Luhan but he's at the meeting with Kris and Suho." Haru remained silent for a moment longer, eyes still not leaving the folder in her hands as she read through the details. "The budget is a bit high though," she commented and looks up to the male. "If anything happens, it's quite a loss for Wu Enterprise."

"That's why I'm asking for your opinion, Mrs. Wu." Kyungsoo responded with an eye roll. Haru giggled and nodded. "Well, my opinion and advice is that we wait till Luhan gets back and discuss it with him. The project is pretty much eye-catching, but the budget is too high for my liking. But if Luhan says yes and Kris approves it, you're going to be hella busy, Soo." Kyungsoo nodded with a sigh. "It's not like I wanted to but we have to fulfill our quota. It's going to be so tiring." "And you're planning to have it in Jeju?" Haru asked and the other nodded. "Yeah, but not everyone's involved. Sadly, I have to be involved." 

Haru chuckled at the man's misfortune before turning her eyes to the door when it opened, revealing a bright and cheerful Baekhyun from behind the door. Just as she was about to wave at him, a wave of nausea hits her and she jumps up from her chair and immediately ran to the toilet. She threw out all the food she had for lunch, and tears began to pour down her face due to the pain. "Haru? Haru! Are you okay?!" she hears Baekhyun shouting from outside the cubicle. Urgh, don't tell me he followed me all the way inside? she wondered. She wiped away her tears and slowly walked out to the sink, ignoring Baekhyun who immediately ran to her side.
