SIMPLE BLEND POSTER TUTORIAL
This is a very simple angst tutorial.
The most important aspect of angst is the images. You must choose images that convey this feeling. DO NOT USE A HAPPY PIC! That's a no-no!
(I didn't post screencaps this time. I provided the images I used and a video.)
PHOTOSHOP
1. Create a new image (File>New...>change the settings accordingly). Drag and drop the gray texture into the poster (this will be the background). Then drag the images into the new poster and arrange them how you'd like, resizing the images if necessary.

2. Blend the images together using whichever technique your prefer, be it lasso, eraser, or mask.
3. Now add stock photos to support the mood, and also give an idea of what the story is about. Because this is angst/dark, I chose a stock photo that gave off a lonely feel. Desaturate all the images.
4. Add Text. Give it a glow effect (Right click on the text layer in the layer manager > Blending Options > Outer Glow)
5. TEXTURE TIME! Before you add your texture, create a new layer and make a duplicate of your image (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E). Set this layer to soft light. Now close the eye so it's not visible, and drag and drop the textures you want to use into the poster. (In this tutorial I used a simple texture with a spotch of color and set it to 'screen', but you can stop here! However, if you want a darker/angsty-er look and then used a grunge texture and set it to 'multiply')
FINISHED!
GIMP
1. Create a new image (File>New...>change the settings accordingly). 'Copy' and 'Paste as...> new layer' the gray texture into the poster (this will be the background).

4. Add Text. Give it a glow effect (Duplicate the layer. Invert the color white. Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Move this layer below the black text)
However, if you want a darker/angsty-er look and then used a grunge texture and set it to 'multiply').
FINISHED!
VIDEO
The first half of the video is the PS tutorial and the second half is the GIMP tutorial.
TEXTURE VARIATIONS
The first one was set to 'screen'. The rest were set to 'multiply'
