Easy, Romantic, Comedy Poster Tutorial
This is a little tutorial on how to make a simple romantic comedy poster.
Images used:

PHOTOSHOP
1. Create new image. Set size according to your preference. I used 650 x 500. Using the paint bucket, fill canvas with color of your choice. I used blue.

2. Using a big round brush, create a large white 'flare'.

3. Move your pre-cut image onto your canvas (by means of either dragging or pasting).
4. Create a new layer and paint a squiggly thing onto it. (May substitute with a cloud or even just a box)

5. Copy and paste the stars onto the poster. Move the layer below the 'squiggly/cloud/box'. Duplicate layer then go to Edit > Transform > Rotate 90 CCW. Move it to the otherside of the poster.

6. Duplicate and rotate it so that the stars are somewhat straight up. Move layer below characters and set the mode to soft light.
7. Create a new layer below the star layer and paint the swirl underneath it. Change the angle of the brush by adjusting its dynamic.

8. Desaturate the characters and adjust the brightness.

9. Add text. Right click on the text layer in the layer manager and click blending options. Click drop shadow and stroke. Change the red to a while in the stroke options.

10. Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and duplicate the poster (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E) and set the layer to soft light. Adjust opacity according to preference.

GIMP
1. Create new image. Set size according to your preference. I used 700 x 500. Using the paint bucket, fill canvas with color of your choice. I used blue.

2. Using a big round brush, create a large white 'flare'.

3. Move your pre-cut images onto canvas (select all > copy > paste as > new layer).

4. Create a new layer and paint a squiggly thing onto it (May substitute with a cloud or even just a box). If you don't know how to add brushes, you can apply step 7 here.

5. Copy the stars and paste as new layer onto the poster. Move the layer below the 'squiggly/cloud/box'. Duplicate layer then go to Layer > Transform > Rotate 90 Counter-clockwise. Move it to the otherside of the poster.

6. Duplicate and rotate it so that the stars are somewhat straight up. Move layer below characters and set the mode to soft light.

7. Copy the swirls and paste as new layer onto the poster. Go to Color > Invert. Then move that layer below the stars layers and set it to screen.

8. Desaturate the characters and adjust the brightness.

9. Add text.

10. Go to Layer > New from visible. Set the layer to soft light and change the opacity to 50.
