There were fifteen Kingdoms. Each possesed powers that one could only dream of...
Fifteen stepped down to make things even.
Fourteen was killed by ten.
Thirteen left to set things right and
Eleven was taken again.
"Move on!", they whispered furiously and you reluctantly obeyed. From your past conversations with your father, you recall that the halls of the dungeon were over miles long. You weren't sure how far you were by now though.
The two guards kept dragging you forward and you wanted to tell them to stop. The day you were caught they made you wear a rag dress made out rough cotton. The absence of your underdress made it even more torturing. You tried to speak but they gripped you harder, making you swallow your words. You shuffled on.
After what seemed like hours, the guards finally reached a wooden door. By the looks of it, you concluded that whoever was inside wasn't a threat. All the same, you shook in fear as they turned the key. Before you could observe your surroundings, they shut the door, leaving only a few streaks of light from the torches outside.
It took a few minutes for your eyes to adjust. The corridors outside were dark and damp, but the cell was even more black. You stood there, quiet, trying to use your ears whilst your eyes were of no use. An eerie silence covered the cell and you could hear stagger breaths at the corner of the area.
"Hello?", you whispered. You certainly sounded much more confident than you felt. You waited.
You whipped around towards the source of the voice. Your eyes were starting to adjust and finally found the outline of a old man.
He was crouched down low in the corner and looked up at you with twinkled eyes. You could now see the details of the wrinkles around his eyes and his very long, white beard. His face held so much power, emotions, experience, and wisdom, it was so hard to look away. He chuckled when he saw you goggling over his face and motioned for you to sit down. You did so.
"First time I suppose?", he spoke deeply. His voice did not shake and held the strength of a young man. Looking at him again, you saw that he once was strong, but now the dungeons had ruined him. Still, you could sense the power that he still possessed and you felt that he could kill all the guards in the area if he wanted to. You felt the need to speak formally and be polite, he seemed to be in a high position. Which didn't make sense since you were both in a cell, hundreds of miles below ground.
"Yes sir.", you semi-whispered. The man looked at you, surprised and replied with his deep voice.
"Oh no need for that, call me Horus."
You shook your head, "I think I'm more comfortable with 'sir', sir."
He nodded, understanding.
"Uhm, I don't want to be rude but how've long have you been here sir?", you sat criss-crossed and listened intently.
Horus smiled at your interest and looked out the door, as if he was sad about what was out there, but not afraid. "I think it's been a few hundred years."
"A-a few hun-hundred?", you whispered, shocked.
"No, just five years.", he chuckled and you sighed in relief.
"What were you caught for sir?", you asked again. You were getting much more comfortable and Horus seemed to make the mood that way.
"For being me.", he spoke flatly. A hint of anger could be found and his eyes flashed dangerously.
"I…I don't understand.", you whispered again. By now, you forgot all about your troubles and focused on the man only.
"It's difficult to explain. Not exactly the time really….Well, if time allows it."
You looked at him puzzled. "I'm sorry, but I still don't quite get it."
He sighed and looked at you. Despite the lack of light you could see the wisdom, the power, the emotions, the experiences. You felt like he could crush the whole kingdom and flee in a second. Why doesn't he though? Your head filled with questions as he answered, " It all begins with the original Fifteen and a power-seeking rebel."
to be continued...
