A Gambling Chance

Description

Sasuke knew that their forces were slowly but surely getting beaten by Obito and Madara. So he took a gamble, and sent himself to the past to try and fix this. Sadly, not everything went right. A Sasuke time-travel fic.

Foreword

The fourth shinobi war. There were shouts from the people fighting alongside him. Jutsu after jutsu was launched at the Juubi. Even with the help of the previous Hokages, they were still outmatched. Obito was relentless in his attack.

He hated saying this, but he knew they were losing. Something needs to be done to stop this, fast. He wracked his mind for a solution, and one came to the forefront of his mind. The Time Rewind Manipulation seal. He remembered Orochimaru mentioning it as one of his backup plans should things get awry. However, it requires a massive amount of chakra to activate, could only send one individual back, and is currently untested. Not much information was known about the seal. What Orochimaru himself managed to gather was it would transfer a person into a certain period on that person's past. But without knowing how they were transferred--was it the mind, body, or just the memories, replacing the younger version of the person itself or merging the two? Will it effect the current timeline?--the seal was too big of a risk, and Orochimaru decided not to use it.

Sasuke decided that he would try to take that risk.

So when it was his and Naruto's time to rest and be healed, he striked up a hushed conversation with his teammates which eventually led to him retrieving the seal from Orochimaru's hideout. The three of them hid themselves in a small crevice near the entrance of the cave, carefully masking their chakra as best as they can. Naruto used his chakra to fuel the seal and him doing the sequence needed to activate the seal while Sakura supervised them, making sure that nothing went wrong.

As the seal started to glow, he smirked confidently at his teammates, quite probably for the last time, and Naruto grinned and Sakura smiled softly at him--both determined yet worried and wishing him the best of luck. That was the last thing he remembered before the world twisted and everything went black.
