EPILOGUE

Dara woke up when she felt absence on the other side of the bed. She rubbed her eyes to adjust on the darkness of the room and realized that Jiyong wasn’t really there. She carefully stood up from their bed and made her way out of the room to find her husband. She went to the last room at the end of the corridor where their son was sleeping and peeked inside, thinking he might be there but there was no trace of her husband. She smiled at sight of her sleeping son. Ah In who was three was evidently a complete copy of his father.

She went inside. Carefully and silently, she went to her sleeping son and adjusted his blanket. Ah In murmured something but continuously slept. Dara placed her hand on her son’s chest and savored the warmth and feeling of his breathing. When she was sure that her son’s settled, she carefully left the room. Quite sure where to find her husband, she went back to their room.

She went to the room adjacent to theirs where their daughter, Haneul was sleeping but also found that Jiyong wasn’t there. She was about to leave the room only to hear her husband’s voice which was coming from the terrace. She immediately went to where his voice was coming from and found her husband seated at a rocking chair with their daughter peacefully sleeping, wrapped in his arms. He was singing a lullaby to their daughter and when he felt her presence, stopped and looked up at her.

“She was crying a while ago.” He said softly before standing up and walked towards her. Dara was about to reach for their daughter but Jiyong told her that he’ll manage.
