ChanYeol and KyungSoo were best friends since they were kids. Ever since both of them can recall, a lot of their childhood’s firsts were shared together. First time to ride a bike, first time to get food poisoned, first crush, and even the first heartbreak.

Again, were best friends.

During their final year in elementary school, ChanYeol’s father got a job offer which required the whole family to relocate. This of course gutted ChanYeol and KyungSoo, but they didn’t have any choice. Promises of keeping in touch and being best friends forever were exchanged. Hands wildly waving in the air, as the elder guy looked through the window of their car, heartbroken to leave that one place where all his fond memories were built. One final look at his friend who was rooted in front of their house, crying like a baby. That would be the last time they’d ever see each other, or even talk to one another.

Days turned to weeks as weeks turned to months. The promise of keeping in touch, forgotten as they both learned how to move on. They were kids back then after all. How can anyone ever hold them to their words?

“KyungSoo~yah!” BaekHyun shouted, “What’s wrong with you? I’ve been talking to myself for the past 5 minutes now!” KyungSoo snaps back to reality and blinks his eyes at his bestfriend.

Bestfriend, why did his heart suddenly ache when he thought of the word?

”Mianhe Baek, I’ve just so many things in my mind right now.” He thoughtfully thumbs through the books in front of them as if trying to avoid a conversation.

“Well, we do have a lot on our plate right now, what with the exams approaching.” BaekHyun sighs and joins the guy beside him as they now aimlessly flip through the pages of a random book they picked up.

The summer breeze did nothing to appease the anxiety they now both feel. The only consolation to this was the semestral vacation after their finals.

But little did they know that their freshman year isn’t simply going to end uneventful. Destiny has a way of screwing people up, but good. And KyungSoo is in for the ride of his life.
